Ask a Fundamentalist Baptist to honestly answer if they believe Catholics are going to heaven.

Of course, barman, you understand that I find your beliefs no less crazy than the Fundies.

:toast:

Not a shock.

Good news is that you'll never get any rap from me about how your failure to plug in with my belief system will put you on the express elevator car DOWN.....seventh level, High Broil

What about the thief on the cross? I do think it's Biblical to say that grace is imputed to the believer, and salvation is immediate and eternal. I would also say that salvation is independent of actions. Salvation is not dependant on performance. If it were, we would all go to hell.

So I would offer that the Bible does in fact preach this. It is not the end-all, and may in fact be oversimplification, but I do agree with it in general. How else can you come to God and be saved, other than to humble yourself and ask him to save you?

I guess you misunderstood me. Either that or I wasnt clear.

What I meant is that you cant just say a few words to be saved. You actually have to BELIEVE what you are praying.

There is a huge difference.

The proof will be in the pudding as to how you live your life from that point forward.

I'm not Baptist, but most of Catholicism is in complete opposition to the Gospel. Do I believe most Catholics are going to heaven? No.

Ah, it's been a while since your last anti-Catholic rant Illini, good to see you're still in top form bud.

Will Jews go to Hell as well?

And what about Parital Jews like me (23.4%)??

Need to know if I'm slotted for the afterlife oven, as it were.

Good question Barman. I think you need at least 25% bloodlines to enter the pearly gates. You are screwed. Burn in Hell....

My question above was sort of tongue and cheek.

"Many" would agree that it makes no difference. Most Bible believers would agree that any man is saved that truly believes with all his heart that Jesus was the son of God, repents, and follows him.

Hippie,

I used to spend a lot of time in Rome on business, and enjoyed
visiting all the historic sites.

In one Roman Catholic church, they had the tomb of a 16 century
Catholic Missionary to China, and they were still collecting indulgences
with a sign that said they were asking for money: "for the salvation
of this missionary"

I'm amazed that the RC Church still gets away with this. Considering Luther
railed against this behavior 500 years ago.

Johann Tetzel (1465 – 11 August 1519) was a German Dominican preacher remembered for selling indulgences and for a couplet attributed to him, "As soon as a coin in the coffer rings / the soul from purgatory springs."[1] In 1517, Tetzel was trying to raise money for the ongoing construction of St. Peter's Basilica and it is believed that Martin Luther was inspired to write his Ninety-Five Theses, in part, due to Tetzel's actions during this period of time.[2]

I view the RC Church in general as a corruption of true Christianity, but I don't judge individual souls. I have close friends who are Roman Catholic, and I believe these individuals are Christians.

I also believe as does Illini that the RC Church is full of false doctrine.

I believe that historically the Popes have been steeped in corruption,
and find it amazing that people actually believe that the Pope could be
infallible given that history of blatant corruption.

No kidding. My college professor at ASU who taught the Reformation class I took back in the '90s was a German Catholic.

Even he mocked the indulgences.

That man was the best professor I have ever had. Rienhold Keirmeyer (sp?).

His stories of 1945 in Germany when he was 10 years old as the American tanks came rolling into town were priceless.

His "office" was the local bar across the street. His Mexican wife would always pick him up and drop him off for obvious reasons...

We're All Going To Hell

All you Mormons who like cussing, you are going to hell
All you preachers who like fucking, you are going to hell
Little boys that choke the chicken, you are going to hell
It’s the nature of evolution, the dinosaurs went to hell

-CHORUS-
Hell hell hell it’s a wonderful place
It’s a place of fire and brimstone

All you Christian politicians, you are going to hell
Magic Jesus apparitions send you to hell
Buddhist monks without god you are going to hell
Those of you dissecting frogs, you are going to hell

All you Catholics wearing condoms, you are going to hell
All us fatties eating bonbons, we are going to hell
Unbaptized babies learn to limbo, purgatory is hell
And your religion is a gamble and you are going to hell

CHORUS

Check this shit out x 2
It’s gunna change your life x2

There once was a man who thought that if he ate all the pages in the bible he could kill most anything
In 1913 he died of a stroke when he tried to eat the book of kings

Eat the book of kings x2

Personally I don't believe anyone goes to "hell". I believe it's not a literal place. The principle of punishment is only necessary for the reform of an individual and to serve as a deterrent to bad behavior. If we are given enough lifetimes we will all develop our characters enough so that we will learn what is right and what is wrong and how to treat others accordingly. When a person turns from such behavior there is no need for punishment.

To think that certain individuals will go to everlasting punishment is to subscribe to the idea that God is not smart enough to reform an individual. It would be to admit that God does not know how to convince a person to believe in him. If you believe in an all-knowing God then no one is beyond redemtpion.

The only place on Earth that may be Totally unaffected Will Be Australia Where This Movie Was Filmed....hmmm? Mr Cage, Care To Share With Us?

Knowing is a 2009 science fiction film directed by Alex Proyas and starring Nicolas Cage. The project was originally attached to a number of directors under Columbia Pictures

In 2009, the time capsule is opened and the drawings are given to the current students. A boy named Caleb receives Lucinda's envelope. His father John Koestler, a widower and professor of astrophysics at MIT takes notice in the paper, and he soon realizes that part of these digits form dates and death tolls of every major disaster over the past fifty years.

John and a fellow professor forecast that a massive solar flare will soon reach Earth, and the final disaster on Lucinda's paper will indeed be global in scale

I believe we are in the age of Pisces now which is the symbol of the fish which is also the symbol for Jesus. Many think that the Age of Aquarius starts when the Age of Pisces ends which according to the Mayan Long Count calendar has an end-date of December 21, 2012

Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”

- Matthew 24

"And behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall be a man meet you, BEARING A PITCHER OF WATER, follow him into the house where he entereth in"

- Luke 22:10

The Sanskrit name of Aquarius in Hindu astrology is Kumbha "pitcher".

As I’ve mentioned in past articles, activity on our sun has been minimal over the last year. Within the last 30 days, there have been no sunspots visible. With few or no storms on the sun, the energy output has decreased about 0.1 percent. Although the percentage seems insignificant, global temperatures have cooled from the peak in the late 1990s.

A new movie (I won’t say which one in case you haven’t seen it) suggests that a super solar flare would literally wipe out all life on Earth.
