Jimmy Hendrix would disagree w/ you. Most people think of Peter Cetera when they think of Chicago. Those people don't know much about Rock-n-Roll music.

Reading this thread has made me realize how uniquely terrible American made rock really was...... so few listenable bands. I never really thought about that before...... but it seems like pretty much every good group came form the UK.

Most of the great rock bands did come from the UK. But the people who influenced the British bands the most were Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Elvis and many of the old American blues players..

Most of the great rock bands did come from the UK. But the people who influenced the British bands the most were Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Elvis and many of the old American blues players..

Oh yea...... there is a ton of great music that originated in the US. All the great blues and jazz players (Buddy Guy, BB King, Robert Johnson and a thousand others) that influenced the great British rock bands. The great R&B groups..... the great traditional country groups like Hank Willams, Bob Wills, the Carter Family, etc.

I am just saying that American made rock seems to be uniformly awful. America has produced a ton of great music..... just not in the rock genre.
