hey areu....respect that you come and post yer picks regardless, cuz you actually give a reason...but backing any team with tim howard as a keeper, well you are on yer own....if you have seen me post anything about him in the past, you will note that he goes to his knees on the ground quicker than a hooker.......ps. everton were robbed of 3 points in this match..cuz at 3-1 i think there wasn't enough time for newcastle to mount this comeback they came up with today...cheers

I can't argue with that one. Sir Alex dropped him like a hot potato after some costly errors in 2005-06. I train keepers so if you want my analysis of him, here it is for what it's worth:

He's a gutsy keeper and I have seen him do some crazy things to stop the ball. He's not afraid to get hurt. But he still has problems with the ball in the air and that means crosses and corners.

Today the Toffees left him on his own on many occasions. The first goal caught him flat footed and he was not in position. The second was not his fault at all. You have to challenge or at least make a decision and he did.

It's tough to play a match against 14 when you only fielded 11 as the rules state. You can't win them all.

Tough to swallow when you know you had the right side.

But I just hit the over 2.5 (+110) in the Swansea vs. Everton match on Saturday for 3 units.

Two attack minded sides.

Write up to follow Friday.

if both goals count 3-1 and newcastle probably lie down after that...the record counts it as a loss but all us punters know it was the right call....but yeah Tim Howard to keep a clean sheet has never been uttered by me ever.

GL with CL - don't fear the Arsenal ... welcome to the CL montpellier ... 0-3....

Dial I am looking at Benfica as a favorite on the road and at + money. This always gets my attention so please offer an opinion and chime in when I post it if I do. It's the only + money favorite on the board.

In my mind Everton coverd again.

i am certain you meant Porto and I agree.....it's not the group of death but certainly Kiev and PSG will be battling with Benfica for top 2...so you always have to beat up the weakest team and Dinamo certainly should be that. Zagreb certainly playing well but Croatia and Maribor are not the same as Porto....i do wonder how Porto will do in Europe without Hulk....but i don't mind the bet.

england lower levels might interest my betting more than CL - 1st games in group stages can be unpredictible. City +1 if the odds are nice could be worth it...madrid are nothing special so far...who knows. GL.

hey, that's fantastik that you train keepers....growing up(all those years ago)the team i played for at my zenith was the NY State select team...Hubert Birkenmeir was the goalkeepers coach...wonder if you ever come in contact with him at any clinics you may be a part of?...he is still training them to this day...very sweet and knowledgeable guy

Just saw this reply.

I have seen him play before and as far as running into him, I have not. However, he did work with a couple of guys I know. One guy I played with in my teens went to Maryland on a full ticket and worked with him and he did some indoor work with another guy I know who played indoor for Rochester in the 80's. Shit I'm old! LOL.

He is a great guy and I think coming to the USA was the best thing he did. He still coaches the US Youth keepers but that's all I know. He may have a camp running close to home wherever that is now (US or Germany?) not sure.

Dial I was referring to the match on Wednesday. Benfica is a plus money favorite on the road. However I did like Porto today.

Let’s get back on track today and finish strong tomorrow.

West Bromwich Albion vs. Reading

I know this is not a popular match between two very unpopular clubs but I think there is real value in this match compared to others on the docket today and this is about making $$$. I have looked at them all and I have some idea where I would go with them but this match jumped out at me as I dug deeper.

First off I like WBA in this match so let’s examine Reading for a moment. Reading will struggle mightily this season and in their last match versus Spurs looked awful.

Week 1 Reading 1 – 1 Stoke (Reading equalized in the 89’ thanks to a penalty)
Week 2 Chelsea 4 – 2 Reading (Reading played well but robbed by the AR-FIX)
Week 3 Reading 1 – 3 Spurs (Horrible match and Spurs took the match to them)

What do we draw from this? I suspect Reading play far more relaxed on the road and buckle under the pressure at home. However that lack of pressure has them conceding 4 goals. They also had a pretty good away record in the lower division last year.

WBA on the other hand has played very well to date. They have not conceded a goal at home, beating Liverpool 3-0 and Everton 2-0. Their last match against Fulham was marred by a RED Card issued against them at the 38’ down 1-0 at the time eventually losing 3-0.

I’ve watch both teams play and I can’t get passed the fact that Reading are just not ready to be a contender in the EPL. This should be a relaxing match to watch with very little nail biting and an easy cover IMHO.

West Bromwich Albion -0.5 (-130) 4 Units

Did the line go up?

I have West Bromwich Albion -.5 (-179)

still good play?

WOW its that high? There are other books with better odds but the line I got was at 11:00pmET last night. That's up to you but at those odds I may consider a WBA -1 at half your wager but better odds.

LOL. I tailed your over small and Flava's side normal. I've followed Phil for years and he's solid even when he was on other sites. I look forward to some of your totals today.

yeah odds drifted to -163 in europe --- wba have proven they can win by more than 1 this year and last year..so the -1 should still be a decent punt if you think they will win. GL hopefully a two or more goal win so everyone can win.....

We can't do much if the FIX is in (and there are fixes every week) but lets hope these boys are on the level today so we can cash.
