lol....His legacy is ruined cause he hatched that plan to Miami! You sound like 1 of the dudes on 1 of those ESPN shows where they just make stuff up to get a reaction.

Also if you think Pippen might not be top 50 of all time you make me feel stupid for going back and forth with you cause if you think that you don't know bball, sorry.

I mean really, am I saying something so stupid here? Jordan leaves the bulls and Pippen stinks up the court. He was a good player but he was a good player made to look great by having the best player in NBA history on his team. Don't think that's hard to follow but maybe I'm wrong. I'll name 20 right off the bat better than Pippen...just 20.

Olajuwon
Shaq
West
Robertson
Malone
Duncan
Ewing
Russell
G Payton
M Johnson
Stockton
I Thomas
Bryant
L James
D Wade
Nowitzki
Jabbar
E. Baylor
Barkley
Chamberlin

Now really, is he truly better than any of those guys right there?

I'd take Pippen over about 4 guys on that list. Don't feel like getting into arguing his credentials vs those guys though. You say he went into the shitter after MJ retired, he was like 34 years old with a bad back then and led Portland to 1 4th quarter collapse away from being favored to win the NBA title vs the Kobe/Shaq Lakers which were obviously not chopped liver.

In '93-94 he led the Bulls to 55 wins after MJ retired. Pippen was probably the best perimeter defender of all time, excellent passer, rebounder. He led the Bulls in every single category the year MJ retired.

Ask Magic Johnson how good he is, he shut him down in the 91 finals. He didn't win 6 rings by accident.

All Time Scorers in NBA History - Pippen is #48
All Time Assist Leaders in NBA History - Pippen is #26
All Time Rebound Leaders in NBA History - Pippen doesn't register

He's lucky to be #26 on the assist list. Pretty tough not to have an assist when you have the NBA's greatest to pass to. Guy didn't win a ring after Jordan and once refused to enter the end of a playoff game and sat on the bench instead.

Do you really think he's a top 20 NBA player? In all seriousness?

Um, you said he might not be top 50. How did you move the goal post to top 20? Where do you rank him amongst the best perimeter defenders ever? just curious...He was 34 with a bad back when Jordan retired, lol.

To say he might not be top 50, then be told your nuts for saying thatand then comeback with asking if I think hes top 20, c'mon now.

Also fwiw, when I said done w/ thread I meant the LeBrons legacy is forever tainted because he went to Miami.

If someone is saying Pippen might not be top 50 all time its just like too easy.

Dude, you said in post #95 he's one of the top 25 greatest players ever and I say he's borderline top 50 and I'll stick by that. Saying he's one of the top 25 players of all time is like saying Lebron is better than Jordan. It's just not true and the argument is ridiculous. Let's say he was a good perimeter defender. Ok, now what? That makes him top 25 of all time?

Enfuego,

Pippen is not borderline top 50. He is a legit top 40 player of all-time.

I haven't listed out every player and counted. Yeah I think he's top 25-30 all time.

And no I don't think he was a good perimeter defender, I think he was the best perimeter defender I've ever seen. To say "It's just not true and the argument is ridiculous" is just reaching to me. Saying stuff like "Oh he never won without Jordan", when he was 34 with a bad back and took Port to the conf finals. 6 rings, tons of all star appearances, 1 of the best defenders ever, 1 of the most versatile players ever. Also really the prototype of the athletic swingman that is so common in the NBA today.

Its funny cause your a Duke fan too and the best player to comeout of Duke ever was Hill and he was basically the next Pippen before his injury. Just a little irony there...

I don't put Pippen in the top 50.

He barely made the list in 1996, and there have been plenty of players since then which would knock him off the list.

A couple incidents about cry-baby Scottie:

Playoffs 1994, Knicks against Bulls. Phil Jackson draws up a play for Tony Kukoc to take the final shot. So, even though it's a fricken playoff game, Pippen refuses to go in the game. WTF. Kukoc hits the shot to win the game.

7th game of the playoffs 1990, conference finals. Pippen has a headache so he refuses to play. WTF.

Then there was the time in 1994 he spent time in jail for illegal gun possession...

right off compairing james to jordan is stupid. they arent even the same type of player. james is alot more like magic than he is jordan. But if you do want to get technical lebron james will finish he career with better stats in just about every category besides points, and he may pass jordan in points as well. James already has made more 3 pointers, he will pass jordan in assists in 2 years, he will have more rebounds in 3 years, he will have more blocks soon as well. That in no way makes him better than jordan im just saying.

Pippen top 50, but not top 20.
I agree to disagree.
Have to remove Ewing, G. Payton, and I. Thomas and replace with L. Bird, the 'Dr" J. Erving, and Moses Malone.

Gskiman, I just didn't put those guys in there as of course those three are in the top 20. This was a list of 20 greats not the top 20 that I think were better than Pippen. I think Pippen may slide in at 49 if he's lucky.

Stats count in discussions over great NBA players Pats...think that's what you don't get. Great defender yes but what about all the other things that make a player one of greats of all time? The stats are just not there. You can choose to ignore them if you'd like.

As for Duke, C Laettner is considered the greatest player to ever come out of the basketball program but that's another argument for another day.

Hill was clearly better than LAettner in the NBA. I am not talking college career just NBA success.

James currently has 11 points in 5 4th quarters in this series....

He can't take over an NBA finals like Michael....

Not really - that 11 is counting the layup tonight where Dallas let he score because they just didn't want to foul when the game was decided - more like 9

To sum James' actual basketball skills - if u put James in Terry's body I would fucking dominate him - he's very good but he's a top 10 player in the league and this Jordan comparison is a farce and must be making Kobe bounce his head off the wall
