Eadie was AX....he was also part of that Machines gimmick with Andre back in 1986. After he left the WWE he sued the WWE to use the Demolition gimmick but lost.

That is interesting...he was a revoltionary no doubt...He has to be pretty old now..I would geuss atleast 65 maybe 70

I remember hearing that Dos Jr. was in his late 30's when he was fighting in PRIDE. Though lying about one's age is pretty common in wrestling, that would put Mil right in the ballpark you suggest...

Everyone in Atlanta knows about Abdullah the Butcher's House of Ribs & Chinese Food. The title only cracks me up. Abdullah started wrestling in 1958 that is a long damn thing.

Thanks...the Masked Superstar, along with The Spoiler (Don Jardine) are probably my all time favorite masked wrestlers. Throw the "Original Asssasin" Jody Hamilton into that mix as well...here's The Spoiler:

I've always wanted to go to his restaurant but have never made it there when I'm in the ATL. Here's a picture from early in his career--well before his pecs started to travel south...

Surprised he just didn't send "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton and "Sweet" Stan Lane aka "The Midnight Express" up to the drive thru...

(or if you wanted to go old school, Eaton and "Loverboy" Dennis Condrey)

It should probably concern the NFL that the most active discussion during their Monday Night game concerns Abdullah the Butcher and Jim Cornette...

Wow...he(Abdullah) was actually in decent shape....I would love to see a 'where are the now' VH1 Style Wrestling Special.

I know a girl who dated the wrestler know as Van Hamer, and typically as so many end up- he was in and out of rehab, and now works on a fishing boat, flat broke living in Ocean City Md.

Real nice thread for tonight. :toast:

Back in the mid to late 70's, ESPN used to show the Texas outfit from 3/3:30 to 4/4:30 Monday thru Friday.

Saw many card at the Bayfront Center and was always able to get a free autograph from some of the particpants. My grandfather and father took me to my first match and after that I was hooked (for a while).

Over the years the promotions have changed/merged, but many of the faces remained. The current crop of performer's don't have one-tenth the talent of those from the as late as the 80's. Many it's a little over stated but, one should get the point being made - many of today's wrestlers are in the sport only to be 'discovered' by Hollywood or other high paying gig.

Some of the better technical ones I had the opportunity to watch were the Funk's (Dory, Junior and latter Terry), the Andersons' (Gene, Ole and Arn) and Bret Hart. Yes, there were others but rather than clog a thread up with a list a yard or so long; these were the ones who made the sport be more real.

I wonder how many remember, even vaguely, the Curry's (Wild Bull and Freddie/Freddy), the Fabulous Kangaroo's, Lord Laton, Lord Alfred Hayes, Ben Justice, the Original Shiek, Pamparo Firpo, Haystacks Calhoun, Wilbur Synder, the Black Jacks. Back then, life in general, was a whole lot safer and simplier.

One of the wrestler's that I found to be nothing more than a joke was Magnium T.A. and his 1 minute win matches. I guess even back then the producers were looking for some eye candy for the gals in the house.

Who's make-up was worse: the Missing Link's (green-slime), Kamala the Ugondun Warrior (white-star) or other (list it)?

Don't watch the current crop to often, maybe once a month, but always get the Wrestle Mania PPV. Last year, had a friend put them all on dvd for me. How many remember, the NWA'a Starcade (Thanksgiving Night)? To me, those were some of the best shows ever put together. I can recall going to an outlet paying $11 and having the time of my life. Now a days, parking is damned near that much. Times certainly have changed and not for the better either.

Sorry about the long read but the mind still had more to offer.

Again, great thread and thanks for refreshing the memories! :103631605

Mike Graham a couple of months back sold his CWF tapes to Vince and alot of it was used in the Dusty Rhodes DVD (The WWE also does a great job with those DVD's I must admit) and they have a classic CWF wrestling show on WWE 24/7 this month with Windham and Terry Allen tagging up, Big John Studd, J.J Dillion just alot of cool old school stuff with Solie on the mike.
