Journeyman said:yeah but we didn't really see much of him , and maybe that was why...but then again the Ultimate Warrior was pretty brutal in the ring as well and he was one of the very elite at the time.
I am really sorry to hear about Angle though, he was clearly one of the most talented.
That was back when Vinny Mac had a boner (and some suggest that was "literal" as well as figurative) for bodybuilders. The Ultimate Warrior aka Jim Hellwig (now known as simply "The Warrior") had a great (albiet chemically enhanced) physique but was one of the worst in ring "workers" in history. The Warrior is a real crackpot now--somewhere along the way he became a rabid right winger...he was on C-SPAN awhile back speaking to some conservative youth group. It was downright surreal seeing him on C-SPAN.
Hellwig got his start in a quartet of bodybuilders turned wrestlers called "Powerteam USA". One of the other guys in the group was Steve "Flash" Borden, who would become a huge star as "Sting".
Rumor has it that Hellwig was a gay prostitute in the ATL before going into wrestling...
Hellwig was a nightclub bouncer at one point too IIRC before he started wrestling...that's also where Kevin Nash was discovered...
