I was looking at that match and liked the Malaga selection as well. I think they will beat the Greeks too.

Dam I had capped Malaga and I should have played it like you did.

Nice capping on that game.

Didn't watch the Lima/Ander match but I heard it was close. Rolltide had a good point about the rankings and Cyprus being a more challenging league.

Nice work EH!

it really should have been 1-1 ...AELs second goal was the keepers fault..he decided to run out of his area for reasons only he knows...maybe AEL played well enough to get the win though...2-1 works for me esp with your Chelsea over. ;)

it might be hard not to bet the Spain Super Cup so maybe 1 play but definitely no europa...maybe group stage matches but very hard to know if the bigger clubs will bother with a real long cup run just for europa....good value on the lesser home sides but i can never convince myself to pull the trigger.

GL tomorrow...and thanks guys...

Dial,

My take on the Super Cup or in this case El Clasico as well......

It's always a good bet to take the dog in this match up. In the last 10 matches between these two teams the favorite has covered ONCE. My advice if you want to have action on this match is to take Real Madrid +1 if you can get it. Right now it's holding firm at 0.5-1.0.

Also the last six matches have gone over 2.5 goals so the trend has flipped to the over after going 6-1 under in the previous 7 matches to that.

So in a nut shell, these two juggernauts know each other well and I suggest ................ Real Madrid +1 and/or Over 2.5. Or sprinkle 1 unit on the Draw and cross your fingers.

yeah - last 4 cup (super and copa del rey) matches el classico have been overs...a few over 3 so maybe over 2.75 at -125. Pepe might be a big blow for Real and maybe gives Real the edge...tough to know being so early and pepe missing helps the over bet. Probably over for me because stats lean that way and it is always good to watch a match like this and cheer for goals. I haven;t looked at weather or final team news so i'll figure out tomorrow...thanks for the info...

looks like newcastle is leaving a ton of players behind but still have cisse, obertan and Gutierrez so maybe enough class to at least not lose - so Newcastle pk might be an option but we do see english sides not take EUROPA seriously and perhaps lose out to concentrate on a CL spot for next year. And Liverpool at those odds has zero value...i imagine hearts won't put up much of a fight but how someone could back liverpool to win by 2+ on the road is beyond me rightn now. My three leans were Newcastle pk, Inter Milan win, and Molde -0.25 but in the end no actual bets and i see afternoon baseball so perhaps better bets out there today....all i know about baseball is the Blue Jays suck.

One play today though
Thursday August 23rd
Spain Super Cup aka El Classico #11 since 2010
Barcelona v Real Madrid
over 3 goals +100 - 1.00 to win 1 unit
once in awhile i do bet hoping it hits purely because it means i watched another classic soccer match...i think stats prove the over is a good play but any matches like most of us saw last year will suffice for me. Last season Barca won 2-1 in the Copa Del Rey and 3-1 in La Liga in Madrid, they drew 2-2 in the Copa Del Rey and Madrid won 2-1 in Barcelona. They also met in the Super Cup with Barcelona winning 3-2. So 5 matches with 5 over 2.5s in which three matches saw 4+ goals. (actually last 6 H2H have been overs). Certainly Barcelona have continued their goalfest this season beating Real Sociedad 5-1 with Messi scoring twice. (many friendlies went over as well). Real Madrid not so stellar i guess but starting a new campaign vs Valencia was always going to be tricky....certainly plenty of 5+ goal matches in their friendlies. Super Cup is a two leg affair for some reason and the last 5 years and 10 matches 9 have gone over and 8 have been over 3.5s. Not sure it matters but 7 of the last 10 Super Cup featuring Madrid and Barca have been overs but they've only met once since 1997.

Looks like Spanish sides like to display the talents of Spanish football (mostly from an Argentinian and Portuguese) in the Super Cup. And certainly these two sides play very wide open against each other. Pepe should be a noticable absence from Madrid and perhaps gives Barca the slight edge at home. I do think 2-1 Barca but 2-2 3-2 2-3 wouldn't shock me. At least 3 goals looks good enough to play for me.

Overall Record:
39-33-3 +3.63 units
August:
34-26-2 +7.33 units

I like it Dial. The trend is your friend and over has been the trend with these two teams.

I think Hearts will give Liverpool a fight today. I think the problem with Liverpool is MANAGEMENT!

I actually thought the Reds were going to get Laudrup, but he decideded to manage Swansea instead. IMHO, Laudrup is twice the manager Rodgers is. Rodgers is too young, too inexperienced and too unprepared to manager a big team like Liverpool. He really should be in the Championship Division and now he's managing in a Europa League tournament. He's "Out of his League" and he won't last.

The players will see right through him and he will be replaced. Just my $0.02.

BOL. I'm on the sideline but I do want to see if the Reds can rebound.

I just looked it up:

Sir Alex manager since 1974
Arsene Wegner manager since 1984
Robert Mancini 2001
even David Moyes 1998
Brendan Rogers 2008

It is sort of working out for Roberto Di Matteo but you don't have to manage chelsea as much and he hasn't proven it enough yet...who knows how much he actually influenced the CL and cup side wins. I guess Liverpool figured it didn't work for them with Benitez, Hodgson or Dalglish so maybe young blood is the answer. But i agree to be a top 4 you just can't learn the EPL game on the fly...ask AVB

but thanks for the good luck and hopefully an early enough goal or Barca might pass the game to death...0-1 madrid 15 mins in would be very nice

My best guess for the Super Cup is...........

2-2 with a late one to tie!

I think Barca wins it in Madrid next week. The league Champs usually prevail.

Tailed you for 1 unit. Couldn't resist.

Nice work. Great 2nd effort from Di Maria on RM's second goal.

yeah that 2nd madrid goal might prove to be the difference in the cup...you have to wonder what valdes was thinking. I guess over in the return leg ... no reason to stop until it doesn't hit.

Overall Record: 2012-13
40-33-3 +4.63 units
August: 35-26-2 +8.33 units

i will be away all morning so posting my early plays without checking morning team news and odds....not so wise but i post everything i play and i already played some. I'm fishing for some Aurora Trout....if you don't live in northern ontario you probably will never see one...i've caught 4 in 7 years....

Friday August 23rd
German Bundesliga II
Hertha Berlin v Jahn Regensburg
over 2.5 goals -134 - 1.34 to win 1 unit
i am still waiting for hertha to explode for 4+ goals to kick start their new season in the german II. They looked rather flat for the most part vs worms but a few decent saves prevented them from taking a 2-1 lead. Hertha's two II Bundesliga matches were 2-2 and 1-3. They are leaking goals and are forced to use their 3rd keeper again. Jahn might struggle to score this season esp away from home (1-0 lost to 1860) but Hertha looks rather poor in defense. I think hertha have no choice but to go for goals and in doing so may conceed at least once. Hertha are no Bayern Munich but they should take note on the cup crushing Jahn got and hopefully same time of scoreline. In the end i see Hertha netting all 3 and the score being 3-0 or 3-1.

Austria Erst Liga aka Austria II
FC Lustenau v KSV
over 2.5, 3.0 -116 - 1.16 to win 1 unit
in lustenau, 7 of the last 8 h2h matches have been over (2.5 goals) with the lone under being 1-1. (5 out of 6 overs in Kapfenberg). Now they haven't met since 2008 so maybe that stat has less importance then normal. Lustenau with 2 unders in 2 home matches so far this year but 12 overs in 19 home matches last season. KSV 5 overs in 6 matches. KSV only under was a 1-1 at HT. KSV rather desperate for a win and certainly FC Lust in a beatable club. But keeping a clean sheet at this moment is virtually impossible...to me 1-2 minimum scoreline and perhaps 2-2 2-3 ....

Norway Tippeligaen
Odd Grenland v Brann
over 3 goals -116 -1.16 to win 1 unit
another over??? Including a cup match 4 overs 3.5 goals in 6 matches h2h with odd being the home side. Odd 12 overs in 19 matches and Brann 15 overs in 19. At home Odd 7 overs in 9 matches at home and Brann 6 overs in 9 road matches. Getting the 4th goal could be tricky but certainly stats favour at least 3 goals.

---
maybe some of the later afternoon matches but i'll see how these are doing when i get home....probably no german I bet.

Lots of overs. What's your strongest pick?

Also, hope you catch an Aurora. It's a nice looking fish.

i think 3 goals in the austria II is my fav pick...i think KSV do win but cannot keep a clean sheet....hertha over is my least favourite of the 3.

thanks for the fish luck - the aurora trout is actually an interesting story if you ever read up on it....i'll take a 1-2 day with a trout. Haha...
