Name one place in the New Testament where Christ declares himself to be a heterosexual and not gay.

Barman,

If you and your twisted cult want to believe that Jesus was
possibly gay, and that the New Testament leaves that
possibility open, then please go ahead.

Just curious though, if there are others at your "Unity Church"
that use LSD, and push "responsible use of LSD?"

You think that homosexuality is a disease that can be cured and offer your ex-gay friends as proof?

There is a MUCH BETTER CHANCE of you recovering from the mental illness your homophobia is derived from than there is of any individual choosing to switch sides in matters of sexual preference.

Great point.:103631605

I've never asked.

Most of the people I know involved with Unity seem like sensible sorts so I'm pretty sure they would promote responsible use if one were to use any drug.

We of course don't know if Jesus Christ was gay.

No one knows.

Not much in this post with which any sensible Christian could disagree.

Fortunately Christ taught us that life is eternal, so even a crippling mental disease like homophobia can eventually be healed

And now that ZIT has swerved the topic over to the use of psychedelics by Christians, we direct the reader to check out the New Testament passages describing the life and times of that John the Baptist. Now there's a guy who was clearly eating some of those special desert cacti if you know what I mean and I think you do.

Meanwhile, those with an interest in knowing more about the international Christian organization of Unity can read all about it here:

http://www.unity.org/

As PoliticoPub friend PAT PATRIOT notes about his own affiliation with Unity, it's a tremendous waystation for Christians who are a bit worn out with the fear, fire and brimstone being routinely taught by the more fundamentalist sects.

Christian light eh? I just assume reject all this nonsense. Picking and choosing only the parts you like is straight up Zitman territory. I respect everyones right to free worship, but i also respect everyone's right to an opinion in a public forum. My opinion is that what you practice is fucking looney tunes. And the same goes for the bible thumper known as Zit. But if yall are causing nobody harm, i say rock on.

Wow, I can't believe how active this thread got. Arguements about the old testiment, medical proof, choice, etc, etc.

To me, I believe homosexuals are born that way. ITS NOT A CHOICE. It's hard for me to imagine gay people unlearning" to be gay via therepy or counciling.

With the involvment of religeon its tough for them not to embrace these people. There's way too much evidence of christians, catholics hiding in the closet who then end up in some type of scandal. I don't think they can continue to sweep those members under the rug or ignore them. They'd have an easier time just embracing them into their churches.

3-Peet, usually i dont agree with you as most cases your base all your points and arguments in fantasy land far far away from the land of logic, but here you are spot on. Every dog has its day so it seems.

Also, at least try and pretend 'SC is a decent school. Your spelling is that of a 10 grader from Compton much less a graduate of the illustrious Southern Cal.

Besdies, my thoughts are presented to the rest of you fellow shleps on this board (friends included). If someone were paying me for my thoughts then I'd use the spellcheck.

ZIT still having trouble understanding that many sects of Christianity don't condemn homosexuals to a burning Hell Fire

This is a very pointless statement. Who cares about what current sects of christianity are changing their stances on. If they aren't going by scripture then what are they basising their current stances on?! Didn't the Lord warn against leaning on your own understanding? I have little respect for "Christians" who pick and choose what to take from scripture and what to disregard! Whatever is convienient at this juncture right?! Revelation 22: 18-19 gives a final warning: Nobody should add to this scripture and nobody should take anything away from this scripture. However, this is essentially what many "New Age" churches love to do. Not smart, not smart at all!!!:cripwalk:

ATB, the Unity message is pure-D Christian gospel

Love One Another Unconditionally

Forgive One Another Unconditionally

No more. No less.

All other demands made by various sects of Christianity are the "add-ons" to which you smartly refer as being crippling to one's spiritual state of being.

Once we learn to love unconditionally and to forgive unconditionally, we are one with Christ.

Too bad so many folks over the centuries have distorted this very very simple message.

The previous post perhaps of interest to forum friend FLETCH.

As you can see, it's not "christian-lite" per se.

Rather, it's just very very simple Christianity without all the pondering man-made attachments.

One need not even agree in a Higher Intelligence or "deity" to embrace the value of the two core concepts

1) Unconditional love
2) Unconditional forgiveness.

The Old Testament was the old law intended for the Jews. It's not to say that we can't learn something from it, however this particular thread is more geared towards the New Testament and Paul's teachings for the rest of the world.

Attila,

Do a google search on "Unity Church Cult" and
"Charles & Myrtle Fillmore" you'll find that Barman is a member of a classic new age cult.
(He's also an ex-mormon).

He'll be proud to tell you how he talks to dead people, and
believes that anyone with enough faith can do so also.

John 5:31--If I testify about myself, my testimony is not valid.
John 8:14--Even if I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is valid

How can any of you people seriously put any faith in the poorly written, self-contradicting fiction of the Bible? You'd drag us all kicking and screaming into the 13th century, had you your way.

tiznow, your logic doesn't hold. (see Matthew 10:34 "Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.")

It's all a bunch of hooey anyway. Might as well all be Scientologists. Speaking of which, you know how all those Scientologists know what L. Ron Hubbard said is true? Because L. Ron Hubbard said it's true. Does that logic sound familiar to any of you?

I'll be honest Barman, sounds like some strange stuff (and not too Biblical by the way). Just a little more going on than preaching unconditional love and forgiveness wouldn't you say?:cripwalk:
