@ Mixed:"Yaroshenko is strong, but Novikov was only 15 seconds ahead of Carl Johan after the shooting. If I had run the last lap, we would have the silver medal now." (Ferry)
Ooookaaayy.....:ohno:

@Women's Individual today: Gone with the wind?
This could turn out to be kind of a lottery! No way I will touch outright or podium today. Looking into some matchups now.

it s a dangerous race with the penalty minutes, but i still like some matchupsHenkel over Ioureva @ 1.82Henkel in top form...Ioureva was a late scratch yesterday due to illness (not sure if this is the real reason, but i still go with the confident german) Bailley over Wilhelm @ 2.06ofcause wilhelm is always dangerous, but sofar something is wrong with shooting...she had 3 errors in sprint and 4 in persuit, while bailley was better going 1+2 and decent running Berger over Jonsson @ 1.75 !! 2 units!!going against the swedes again here. Both were same in shooting so far (both 1+1), but Jonsson also has one more race already (no break)..in addition Berger is way superior in the tracki am thi nking about Jonsson over Makaraiinen (terrible shooting and why did she not start in persuit???)and how good is Gwizdon ?? thinking about a fade vs. Denkinger or more likely win over Rogstadt

You read my mind man , I was looking at all these plays , I think Gwizdon can beat few people , maybe against Denkinger and sure against Rogstadt

weather news

News Newsletterabonnement 2008-02-13 • Men’s official training delayed Strong winds at the stadium mean changes to today’s programme. This morning the IBU and the World Championships’ organisers have held a meeting to discuss whether the day’s programme will be affected by the weather. The strong winds currently blowing on Östersund and the biathlon stadium mean that it is not possible to hold the men’s official training as planned, at 11.00 - 12.30. It has thus been moved to 13.30 - 15.30 at will therefore be at the same time as the unofficial training.SMHI say that the wind may now increase in strength at around 10.00, but should also start to drop after lunch. An area of cloud will also move in over the county in association with this, which may mean patchy snowfall. The temperature will remain around zero.Further information about changes will be announced through the morning.

I will try to fade Wilhelm today .

Here is my first pick :

13 February

Biathlon - Women: World Championships 15km Individual

Start time : 17.15 CET

Head to head

Kati Wilhelm vs Andrea Henkel

My pick is Andrea Henkel to finish ahead of Kati Wilhelm

10 units to win 5.5 units

Wilhelm with 3 errors in sprint and 4 errors in pursuit makes total of 7 errors in 2 races and Andrea Henkel is 10/10 + 20/20 !!! No error so far after 2 races 30 shots made out of 30 and 2 gold medals . Wilhelm might be angry and try something today but I can hardly see her change that form in just 3 days . Henkel is same level with Wilhelm in running and maybe even better so if Wilhelm has same amount of errors which I cant see happen she wont finish ahead of Andrea Henkel and with 1 error more she has no chance .

now it will be decided at 4 pm local time (in 10 min) if the race will take place at all, because of the wind or postponement

I think so, yes. At least it should be no problem to change starters because of "illness" ;) - see Iourieva, etc....

Things calmed down in Ostersund. Right now there's still a max of 7,1m/s, but nothing compared to yesterday (saw >20m/s) and eurosport did show some pictures from the range: that really would've been a funny shooting! So there are both individuals today: 14:05 Women and at 17:15 Men. This is what I like so far:

5u
Henkel over Glagow 1,649 (pin; got that in yesterday, odds down now; 1,62 at ub)
Glagow worse running, worse shooting (so far here); Henkel with no pressure, very confident and she may even be able to compensate one error while Glagow knows that she HAS to leave the range with an excellent shooting if she wants to get a top rank...

2u
Rogstad over Jonsson 2,70 (ub)
These two should be more or less on the same running level atm; 50-50, so odds of 2.70 is fine with me;

- Still like that Gwizdon over Denkinger idea, too. 2,29 (pinny) too high - Denkinger might be superior on the track though, as this will be her first start.
- Won't go against Russians and French because normally they are too good shooters.
- Fading Wilhelm sounds ok if odds are worth it.

14 February

Biathlon - Women: World Championships 15km Individual

Head to head

Magdalena Gwizdon vs Solveig Rogstad

My pick is Magdalena Gwizdon to finish ahead of Solveig Rogstad

3.6 units to win 3 units -120 at pinnaclesports full limits

Gwizdon is much more stable than Rogstad and can run 15 km . Gwizdon running better than Rogstad and I think she will have less errors today than the girl from Norway .

Head to head

Tora Berger vs. Helena Jonsson

My pick is Tora Berger to finish ahead of Helena Jonsson

7.25 units to win 5 units -145 at pinnaclesports

Fair price here but Berger was almost 2 minutes faster in running than Jonsson in 12.5 km pursuit . Both had 1 error in sprint too and Berger was 1 minute faster . Even with 2 errors more Berger has a chance here and thats very huge because they are same level in shooting .

Lol, Brainiac: Henkel shooting 6 errors and still you win!
Damn Glagow finding her form just in time to fuck up my bet.
Wow, Iourieva unreal!

first of all i have to say ia mexhausted: writing down split times and following this event live is really really tough and chaotic...so much going on at the same time all over the track...........besides that: it is realy extrem how much importance the shooting has...a top-runner can maybe get one error on a mediocre one, but as the matchups are usually set on the same skill-level that very rare
