Hi Ted,
What exactly does it mean when one hears it said that we should be a "+ev bettor"?
Thanks

Three Units:

A "+ev bettor" is one who generally makes wagers on underdogs such as taking the points in football or basketball, playing only ML's with plus value, propositions with plus value or any wagering side of any sport with plus value or at worse even money.

Thanks Ted,
Does -110 count as even money, given that that is the price for most NBA and NFL over / unders? Or is that the point, a "+ev bettor" wouldn't touch those at all?

I hate to jump in on OMT's thread, but I've always understood a +ev wager to be any wager, underdog or otherwise, that will let you come out ahead in the long run. For example, if the no-juice price on a game should be +/-142 (according to your own calculations or whatever), and you can bet the favorite at -140, that would be considered a +ev wager.

The particular wager may not necessarily win, but the idea is after hundreds of similar bets you will be in the black.

I may be wrong too...OMT has been at this game a lot longer than I have. That's just my understanding of the phrase.

best of luck

Welcome to the RX. To answer your question let me say I'm guessing that when you say Canadian you mean the CFL. Is that correct? Most of our posters tend to start a separate thread for their daily plays and many provide updated records within those threads. Now you mentioned each round and picks for a certain league. Can you please clarify so I can help you better. Thanks

Thanks for the further explanation. I see you have already started a thread on the league in the Soccer Forum. That's great. Back to your original question. As you can see, in the Soccer Forum, some posters have season long threads and keep adding their plays while others have decided on starting a new thread on a day they have a play. If you decide you want a season long thread, it is not likely to fall off the front page as long as you add your plays routinely because each time you reply, the thread will be bumped to the top of the page. With that in mind, you need only decide how you would like to present your plays as well as information. Best of luck with this new league.

Can you believe someone woke Ted up just to ask him a question about Soccer?

Hi OMT, I was looking around and came across this thread of yours. I figured it would be the perfect place for my first post here. I wanted to get your opinion on something - parlay bets. I have only been sportsbetting about 2 months now, but it seems to me the smart bet could be small parlays (2-3 teams max). A small bet can pay off big and if you win 1 of 3 parlays or so, doesn't it make sense? I have seen a lot of advice to only make straight bets, so I wondered what your years in the biz would advise. I'm sure you want to say it is a personal choice on where to bet and how much, but I am genuinely interested in your opinion. Forum looks great - glad to be here!

First of all, welcome to the RX. As to your question regarding parlays, you will see many, many players who play them, but strictly speaking, the long term percentages of winning money through parlay wagering is against you. The primary reason is it is difficult enough to be on the right side of any single wager let alone trying to be on the correct side on mutiple plays linked together. One could argue that if you were successful enough in playing parlays, you would only need to hit a few to cover those that lost, however, in my 38 years in this business I have never met a player that has the long term discipline to be successful playing parlays. Even those playing straight wagers must grind just to be successful 53% of the time. This may not be the answer you were looking for but you asked for my honest opinion and there you have it. Glad to hear you like the site and here's wishing you the very best of success.:toast:

That's about as straight-forward as it gets! Thanks, Ted, as I appreciate your candor. I have had some relative good luck with parlays but certainly only over a short timespan so your advice means a lot. I certainly look forward to participating here and gleaning as much info about the biz as I can. %^_

Question On Becoming Illegal:

FORMS ARE GOING FAST- SIGN UP TODAY!

(Actual letter from an Iowa resident and sent to his senator)

The Honorable Tom Harkin
731 Hart Senate Office Building
Phone (202) 224 3254
Washington DC, 20510

Dear Senator Harkin,

As a native Iowan and excellent customer of the Internal Revenue Service, I am writing to ask for your assistance. I have contacted the Department of Homeland Security in an effort to determine the process for becoming an illegal alien and they referred me to you.

My primary reason for wishing to change my status from U.S. Citizen to illegal alien stems from the bill which was recently passed by the Senate and for which you voted. If my understanding of this bill's provisions is accurate, as an illegal alien who has been in the United States for five years, all I need to do to become a citizen is to pay a $2,000 fine and income taxes for three of the last five years. I know a good deal when I see one and I am anxious to get the process started before everyone figures it out.

Simply put, those of us who have been here legally have had to pay taxes every year so I'm excited about the prospect of avoiding two years of taxes in return for paying a $2,000 fine. Is there any way that I can apply to be illegal retroactively? This would yield an excellent result for me and my family because we paid heavy taxes in 2004 and 2005.

Additionally, as an illegal alien I could begin using the local emergency room as my primary health care provider. Once I have stopped paying premiums for medical insurance, my accountant figures I could save almost $10,000 a year.

Another benefit in gaining illegal status would be that my daughter would receive preferential treatment relative to her law school applications, as well as 'in-state' tuition rates for many colleges throughout the United States for my son.

Lastly, I understand that illegal status would relieve me of the burden of renewing my driver's license and making those burdensome car insurance premiums. This is very important to me given that I still have college age children driving my car.

If you would provide me with an outline of the process to become illegal (retroactively if possible) and copies of the necessary forms, I would be most appreciative. Thank you for your assistance.

Your Loyal Constituent,
Donald Ruppert Burlington , IA

If we got rid of all laws no one would be in prison! We'd all be free like butterflies. We can then fly gracefully, flapping our wings landing on flower petals.

It shouldn't have the word music at the end. It isn't music, but in fact garbage.
It's good to see that some people can still see the truth about it. :103631605
[there's a few that make sense, but generally it's all a bunch of rattled words bullshit]
somebody should tell all these wannabe rappers to put their SHIT down on paper then sell it in a fuckin book, but then of course nobody would buy it.
BECAUSE IT'S ALL SO FUCKIN STUPID !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
