Hey Ted, I see people talking about games being "garbage". What does this term mean? Thanks!

Can you provide me with an example or two so I can see for myself? Just copy and paste what is being said and I'll try my best to answer you.

What each of these posters is referring to is when a game is so lopsided, for instance the Lakers are way ahead of Atlanta, that the game is not in doubt and it is likely that the bench players will be used in the latter portion of the game and the points scored are simply "garbage" to the final result but could impact a second half play both in side and total as well as the game overall total. In football, the same term is often used as "garbage" yards after the game is no longer in doubt. I hope this helps answer your question and thanks for the links.

It does help, thank you Ted. I can really see that with the second half of the Laker game. Take care.

Hi Eve:

Welcome to the RX. To answer your question, no there is no place where we have one thread for everyone's best bet of the day. Each sports forum has picks by various handicappers and we have the Tracker Forum, where veteran handicappers post their picks and have their record tracked with standings showing their overall performance. I hope this answers your question and best of luck to you.

Welcome to the RX. To answer your question, my familiarity with cycling wagering is non-existent except for futures on the Tour de France. Let me see if I can gather any information on books that might offer cycling wagering and I'll respond back in this thread. Your patience would be appreciated.

I have done a search of a number of sportsbooks and, as of yet, have not found any current cycling wagering but know that the Tour de France definitely will have futures. So what I decided to do was start a new thread in the Offshore Forum on the subject of cycling (see the link below) to see if we can get some responses from our members to help answer your question. The Offshore Forum is a great place to get help from our posters. Keep that in mind for the future. Let's hope we get some responses. I will follow up in this thread giving you my thoughts on books and cycling after we see what others have to say. Thanks for your patience.

No problem. It appears that unless we get more responses saying otherwise, cycling, other then futures on the Tour de France, is not widely, if at all, offered. Which leads me to recommend at least one book that is known for having a wide variety of wagering options that other books don't offer. That would book would be 5Dimes. Many, many books, including our sponsors shown above will offer futures on the Tour de France, so if you plan on wagering on that event, be sure to shop around and best of luck.

OMTed - Good evening. I am not new to betting but I am new to betting baseball. I have a question about the run line. For example tonight, (Mon), Florida was -133 at the ML, but +1.5 at the RL. This game was statistically is in favor of Florida winning with a better pitcher and offence. My question is, why was Florida +1.5 and not -1.5 when I thought it was kinda a sure thing that they would win? And they did by a long shot. Thank you for your time ~

I looked up the opening and closing lines for the Florda/Pittsburgh game in which the Marlins won 10-4. I have the opener as Florida favored -115 on the ML and closing anywhere between -103 and -115, meanwhile I have the Florida RL opener at +1.5 (-210) while closing anywhere from -199 to -225. As you said, normally the favorite would be -1.5 with a + RL, however, there are times when the books will offer +1.5 with a -RL. It is not ordinary but also is no totally unusual either. I realize this doesn't provide the reason a book may do this but don't be surprised if you see it again throughout the season.

Welcome to the RX. To attempt to answer your question. A "sharp" line is one that is very close to what the line should be. A "regular" line could have some softness to it where there may be a advantage to one side or the other.
