OMT - I see one poster with join date of April, 2006 and 3400 posts who has "RX Junior" below name and another with join date of Oct, 2006 and 1400 posts with "Rx Senior"., so what is the criteria from moving to the Rx Senior status?

I am a newbie. I've been ding straignt ups or parlays. Is there a better way to $$ in? I've heard of systems but I'm not sure where to start or even what it really means. Is there anyone who could give me some help?

Welcome to the RX. I apologize for the delayed response but I have been away two days. As to your question, I will respond to both.

First, since you are just beginning, you should stay with play straight bets only and drop the parlays. It is hard enough to hit a winning percentage on one game let alone two.

As for systems, rather then try and get into the vast amount of systems, trends, etc., I would like to refer you to the single largest bookstore on gambling in the U.S. It is located in Las Vegas and I have been there many, many times. Below is the link to their website. You can browse through the site and also call them using the toll free number and ask any questions you have. They will be happy to help you.

I have noticed this as well since the upgrade to our new software. I have asked Tech Support to provide me with an answer. As soon as I receive a response, I will add it to this thread.

Hey OMT,

I like following your play selections btw. So I've been wondering about this for awhile, what factors, tangibles, trends do bookmakers use to set out a line and the odds for it?

As well, I noticed a lot of the cappers on here have the ability to predict well that a particular play will have a line movement, how do they know that?

Thanks ahead, keep up the good work on the play selections, and GO GIANTS!

Well, these questions are not that easy to answer, but I'll try. First of all bookmakers have all the same information that we do. They won't set a line based on trends but factors like injuries, weather etc. affect the opening line. Remember, the bookmaker is trying to set a line that will receive a fairly balanced amount of action on both sides and determine a number, both side and total and other plays that will accomplish that.

Now as for handicappers that have the ability to predict line movement, there is one word to answer that "Experience". The longer a capper has been watching line movements, the better he/she becomes in anticipating the direction the line will move. However, I have never met anyone, handicapper or bookmaker that can predict line movement 100% of the time accurately.

Hope that answers your questions a bit. Best of luck to you!

Hi Ted,

I got another question for you. I'm pretty sure my books is cheating me.

My question is in regards to underdogs and plus point spread.

Lets just say TEAM A has +3 and TEAM A loses by 3 points, is that a push or a win?

And let say TEAM A has +3 points in a two play teaser with the total of OVER 49, the OVER is 50 and TEAM A loses by 3 points, is this two play teaser a winner or push?

Thanks

btw, if my books is cheating me, you got like a link to somewhere that states the universal rule for this, that way I can stuff this in the face of my books! Thanks again!

A bit off topic...

I thought you guys were trying to limit SSI to just posting as SSI.

In the hockey forum, a new handle he has "metslider" is posting "The Falcon's" computer plays.

Will it never end?

First let me apologize for the delayed response as I have been off since Sunday night at 10 p.m. EST.

Now as to your questions. First if TEAM A is getting 3 points and loses by 3 points, the bet is considered a push or no action. Regarding the teaser, if it is a combination of TEAM A plus 3 points and TEAM A/B Over 49 and the results are that TEAM A loses by 3 points but the Total of TEAM A/B is 50 points, then the following statement as copied from the Betjamaica rules normally is applied by most, but not all, sportsbooks. Some books may have different teaser rules, as they do vary and you should always read the payout rules before making a play.

**A tie in a 2 team teaser will result in No Acion regardless if there is a win or a loss **

As to SSI, we have eliminated all his ghosts and his only username is SSI and his location is Tennessee. As for poster metslider, he is located in New York and is not a ghost but obvious communicating with SSI in posting "The Falcon's Computer Plays". Although we have a registered poster named The Falcon, he has never posted and registered back in September 2004 and I believe there is no connection. Either SSI is calling himself the Falcon or, as he states, The Falcon is a customer of his convenience store who gives him plays. SSI may very well be trying to setup The Falcon (i.e. himself) as a future tout, but to this point, really either he or metslider are simply posting plays under the name of nickname The Falcon and really hasn't broken any rules in doing so. I fully understand your concern and its potential impact on possible newbies but at this stage, until he actually turns tout, he really is no different then any other poster, although for the life of me, I don't know why he goes about it in this manner.

when i enter a thread the replies/view column and the last posted by column is not stretched out all the way causing a lot of empty space under each post. This only happens on one of my pc's, so you know why? Thank you. The main forum page is fine its just when I enter a thread and the extra "replies/views" column becomes visible.

As promised, our tech support has responded with the following reply. Please let me know if this helps your current problem.

This is probably due to using Internet Explorer 7 or Internet Explorer 8 in compatibility mode. Solution is upgrade IE7 to IE8 or take IE8 out of compatibility mode (check the little paper icon to the right of the address bar).

Can you suggest a sportsbook (preferably a sponsor) that takes visa debit cards directly and is highly rated? 5 dimes and betonline won't.

Also, is bodog legitimate?

You'd be better off going with one of the sponsored books here. Also, no clue on the first question you asked. Good luck finding an answer.

First of all, welcome to the RX. I hope you enjoy our site. As to your question regarding books that accept visa debit cards, I would suggest that you that you click on each of the sponsors links above, one at a time, and look at the banking information provided and also call the customer service representatives toll free and ask if they wil accept that method. Personally, I have never used a credit or debit card to make a deposit and therefore am not current as to which books will accept them. Best of luck!

Bodog is a legitimate book, however for my personal needs, I don't use them. The books that we have as our sponsors more then cover my needs with the backing of the RX to assist in any matter should it become an issue. You, as an RX member are entitled to the same support should you decide to open an account with any of our sponsors. Best of luck to you and enjoy!

OMT - I have noticed lately that some posts are "center aligned" instead of the normal "L side" aligned. Why?
