many of us do NOT think that your argument is rational, and to be quite truthful, it is grossly irrational. those who come here ILLEGALLY immediately display their disrespect for our laws and then continue to disrespect us by not even making an effort to learn our language. they do learn how to bilk the system and, i for one, do NOT want my tax dollars to pay for any of their benefits. having served and fought for our country, i find it grossly insulting when i see them carrying the mexican flag and never see them carrying an american flag. i want my tax dollars to be spent on veterans who have fought for our country and never one cent spent on those who have come here ILLEGALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I didn't call anyone a fag, or stupid, and also used proper punctuation so my point was understood. You may not agree with me, but I wasn't emotional or unreasonable with any of my responses.

So if someone moves here with a 1 year old, and the 1 year old goes to school and lives in the US his whole life, and gets good grades, and earns a scholarship, he shouldn't get it because his parents brought him here when he was 1 yrs old? Doesn't make sense to me to punish the kid.

The argument (not sure if you said it or someone else, just in general) that you are taking this away from other kids is a bit out there. There are tons of scholarship opportunities out there and most kids who really want to go to school and work hard can find plenty of scholarships.

Why should an illegal even be attending a state funded college to begin with?

I'm not bringing anyone in, they are here because of demand. Who's life is worse off? Most of these guys on this forum like to brag about how much money they have. How about we bring them out of the shadows, give them a number so they can help pay for the schools and hospitals, so they can get things like car insurance, health insurance. I respect your opinion though, cause you do articulate real concerns and points. Buster's argument back to me, is to call me a fag, yet he thinks he's so clever and smart.

Yes I am clever and smart compared to you...Possibly the stupidest argument in the history of the internet....Having ILLEGALS and that means "illegal" here in this country frees you up to be a more productive,by spending hours upon hours on a sports message board...How you or anyone else can see that as wrong is mind blowing...You are simply stupid and I mean that...You are a true dumbass and if therx had any dignity they would immediately fire someone that makes such a stupid statement...You are acting like this job is worthy of even being considered a job in the real world...I would actually say 99% of the illegals would laugh at your belief that you are doing them a favor by not taking a job they have in order to do what you do...HaHa...I would say you spend however many hours you are required to on here per day and the other hours chasing shade around the house....

please read my response again. i never stated that you insulted anyone or "was emotional or unreasonable" so i do not understand your response. i stated, in no uncertain terms, that i find your argument irrational rather than rational. as you are entitled to your opinion, so am i entitled to my opinion. the use of the term "irrational" had nothing to do with using the words "fag or stupid" (which you did not) but rather the logic and facts of your argument.

Why should an illegal get to pay in-state tuition at a rate far less than an American born student from across the state border? It makes no sense to me.

You can't even type a complete sentence. I don't care if I get fired from being mod, I do this cause I enjoy it, and I'm in a position where I don't have to work anymore, because I'm retired and have paid all my debts off at 40 years old. I did everything the right way, and don't need a scapegoat nor make excuses.

I'm fine with pathway to citizenship. Not blanket amnesty but something where it is like a 3-5 year process.

Just saying merit based is the way forward. For most of US history you really didn't need merit based because most of the good jobs just took manual labor and sweat from the brow or whatever you call it. Everyone was basically on equal footing and we were building a country.

Now that we have an economy that is more knowledge/skill based it makes a lot less sense to just flood the country with people that have no skills. Maybe Americans wouldn't pick crops in 109 degree weather but they would work in hospitality and food service if wages weren't being undercut by people coming from real poverty, abject poverty. The free market works but there are inefficiencies and the US having Mexico on its border is 1 of them.

If you did it the right way, why do you accept people being in our country and not paying the same taxes you had to pay?

I don't, I want them to be documented and pay taxes. I don't think building a wall, or deporting 12 million people are realistic solutions. Both those solutions cost money, not so much the wall, but the deportation of 12 million people will cost a lot of money, and will probably erode some of our privacy rights to get it done. I say let them be documented, work, pay taxes, get health insurance, ect.

HaHa again...I actually thought I was done here, but evidently not...This fucking stupid 40 year old illegal supporting fuck actually typed this below on top of the fact he typed that illegals makes it easier for him to benefit all of us here to be more productive...So most here like to brag about what they have and here you are saying the same thing...You are pathetic...

but are they paying taxes? I don't think most illegals are

I would have to disagree here. My take is that if the illegals are working, they are working with a false ssn#, so when taxes are taken out of their checks, it's not gong into their retirement or any government accounts for them individually. They will never have enough "credits" when it comes time to get social security or Medicade.

Yeah, most do pay payroll taxes. That isn't really the issue though.

I mean, would the Warriors let me run point with 4 mins left in this finals game? Probably not. Try to think of it like that, America is the Warriors.

But my main issue is we actually pass state laws that allow the illegals here now to receive state benefits like in state tuition despite their immigration status and it baffles me as to why we do that.

Agreed with some sort of path to citizenship, but we need to fix the current system first. We do not want other illegals to have the mind set that once they make it over here (illegally) they can stay and if they have a baby on our soil they get to to stay too.

Why aren't we talking about what happens to wages if we let all those people into the workforce?

Thats simple, let's look at those cities you are citing. Mostly liberal cities. I honestly believe a liberal would prefer open boarders.

Can we answer the question why sanctuary cities get any federal monies when they are ignoring a federal law
