Meant for Carr thread sorry
I don't want it and do not support it but I think the Colts get one of those shit qb's at #4 or worse even trade up... Cap wise, they are OK...

Irsay is old, meddling more, and then the new head coach just came from Hurts so probably won't be thinking like me.

For some reason when I read these posts, my level of concern for billionaire NFL owners just isn't there. I dunno what it is, but I guess I just lack empathy as a human being. Hopefully they can figure out a way to solve this massive dilemma that I'd call "roster management", maybe we should all say a prayer?
It's not really a matter of taking sides as much as pointing out how screwed up the current system is.

So your average NFL QB had one good year and your team made great strides reaching the Super Bowl!

Fantastic!

Now you have to sign him for 50 million and dismantle half your roster! ?

You don't see anything fundamentally wrong with that?

I see it as fluidity which creates opportunity

Others are free to complain I suppose but we got enough victims out there, don’t think we need to add NFL teams to the list

Just be smart and trade him if he’s not that good and can be replaced. If team A does something stupid then teams B, C, D gain.

Once you start talking $$, that is where you lose fans... These salaries are a joke....

That will be one of my all time best sports moments.... when we meat a breaking point. Now, hey lets pay a 17 tear old 2 million a year because he may be good but probably won't be. This NIL will end up as a disaster.

Well,,, that and the fact that I acknowledge Peyton Manning is the greatest qb of all time. Haha
Where does Brees rank on your all time list

Top 5 without a doubt.

What a golden age of quarterbacking we have seen. Brady, Brees, Peyton... All had the same qualities. quick release, intelligent, accurate, cared more about their craft than their personal lives for better or worse...

1-5

Peyton
Brees
Brady
Marino

5 can be debated... Hate to leave some of the old guys out..... I am sure Otto Graham could sling it in his double wing back power T formation.

This is why I laugh at GM's who are always defending themslves acting like picking a qb at the top of the draft is like 50%...

No, it isn't... All of those guys had exactly the same qualities.

Where they screw up is pretending there are 3-5 of those guys every single draft... Bide your time, talk to the owner, have a draft plan for 3-5 years.... Not in just 2 months.

I remember the chargers gm after they took Leaf.

" well we needed a qb"

Good God, 95% of the teams in the draft need a qb.... What a horrible reason for taking the guy #2 overall. And you would think pre draft there would be obvious red flags... Even Leaf has admitted the obvious red flags in his life.

By the way, I admire Leaf for his post NFL career... Even he said he was a train wreck

Do you want them to trade with Chicago for #1 pick?
Seriously???

I love that you never see a mock draft with the Bears taking a qb when Fields was easily one of the worst qb's in 2022... Didn't he throw for like 2,200 yards.... Not in 1958.... In 2022...

So you like the idea of them staying at number four?

Are you hoping they take the kid from Kentucky or another position?

If I had it my way, trade back to 9-12 and take a left tackle.... Get a 3rd this year and 1st next year. See Drake Maye and his development and then potentially do it next year.

Play Ehlinger all year... Let him know now... He is the guy.. Give him a full calendar year to throw with receivers, etc... Then this time next year you know exactly what you have.

Let these other dumbass teams " win the draft" before the season is kicked off and take a CJ Stroud.

Leaf was almost as big a prospect as Manning and Pol

in the chargers defense Leaf was a huge prospect . Some people had him over manning . Even polian himself said taking manning over leaf was not a total slam dunk at the time

Colts draft

1996: Marvin Harrison mid 1st ( building a piece)
1997: Tarik Glenn ( building a piece)
1998 Peyton ( going for it)
1999 Edgerrin James ( piece to compliment Manning)

It kinda worked out...
