walked the paved road that runs parallel to the lake for one hour and seven minutes. wrote that out long hand just so i could look at it. lol..key to todays hike was the hills and there was plenty....a track coach shared with me once that level ground was almost useless for anything but goin to the mall..soooo,that is where i'm at right now. started to measure distance with the odometer, but thats rather pointless. dont know the exact numbers but up hill half a mile has got to be about the equivalent of 1.5 miles,in terms of energy expended. just goin by the way i feel...this road is perfect place where i can take mia and most of the time let her off the leash. only 3 cars passed in that 67 minutes....will do this same hike sometime at night because in a way it's my favorite time. so peaceful about the only noise is the sound of the water splashin up against the bank...

out there today at 6;30 am and not a boat or fisherman in sight. 77 minutes, and when i got back to the car, sure was ready for this recliner, but it was a good tired. was raised on a farm and it sort of reminds me of how i'd feel after haulin hay or cuttin tobacco all day..most importantly, there is no undue soreness or pain in the feet and legs so i'll soon be ready to go again..yesterday i actually did 90 minutes because i went back out (primarily to meditate) about 11 last night..maybe i can get an early morning and late evening routine goin, but i'll just play it by ear....p.s....little dog was so tired she almost went to sleep in her food.lol

kidman, there are some huge, wooden picnic tables and chairs there where I do a few situps, pushups, sidebends, stuff like that. im always out there for at least 2.5 hrs or more, and i'm never in a hurry. zen meditation, present moment awareness ,etc, are a huge part of my life now. it's just a very (as the kids say) chill atmosphere. nothin but nature and folks who are into that. ps; most vital part of all this is strechin. I wear stopwatch and every 30 min I touch toes for 100 beats, and same with stretchin legs. I don't know what these stretches are called but track coach at Berea college seen me rubbin my ankles and taught me the basics.. what a life saver..kidman I always read yer thread...KEEP THE CONTINUE!

4.6 miles.....Now we are talking.

Nothing less then 3 miles a day....Everyday!

We all have a high school near by with a track.

12 times around is 3 miles.

At each oval do a short jog.

Consistency proves results.

Good luck!

just re-read a lot of this thread again and i'm amazed. i can see now that i could have put more emphasis on nutrition.lol...weight is at 238 right now and i've been walkin 1 mile for about 2 wks....like several guys pointed out to me,what i eat will have more of an impact on weight loss than anything else..i never got under 235 and it's simply because i ate too much..
unloaded 10 lbs of lard in 48 days and I could not be more pleased...
