hey, hog; it is good to be back home; had great time w/family in Chicago and walked, jogged, walked, jogged as much as 8 miles per day; it is such a great place for exercise; so much to look at and, as you indicate, keeps boredom from setting in; it's good to see you with new goals for new year but it is important to remember that we cannot get "instant" results; have been w/trainer many times and that is emphasized so much; you must set your goals at something you can sustain, you must not overdo it because you cannot continue at that pace; you appear to be eating right so you're doing the right thing, you just have to be patient and try to keep it interesting; it's the worst job any of us will ever have; yes, i've been to Boonesboro many times and really like it--lot of history there; have also been to fort area over in Winchester; it's new and not lot to see but speaks history; Shakertown is another interesting area; Kentucky has lot of history; will notify you if i'm coming to berea; am teaching 6 classes this semester so won't get there like have in past; it is interesting that two people from berea would meet on board like this; just wish i'd met you sooner; my friend and i go "history" hopping on weekends--he is a bigger history buff than i am and also into the weight loss thing but he only needs to lose about 20 pounds; you and i could probably handle that easier; keep journaling so we can keep in touch, maybe together we can all become less obese

mrhognuts....my trainer started me walking 10 minutes and jogging 5 minutes for 60 minutes...little sore today, but because of all the walking I did for 2 months, it wasn't that bad....I do 60 minutes on the treadmill before all this and he has me walking 10 minutes and running 5 minutes also....makes for a good workout....I do this 3 times a week and vary it up the other 4 days with an occassional day off....

day 8=my usual ninety minutes walkin and twenty stretchin, didnt do any joggin 2nite cause my feet hurt about all day,,gonna try it one more time 2mor,,was a very windy and rainy old night here in berea,i put some kind of a smock type of raincoat on and hit it,,was a nasty night but when i would think about stayin in everything inside of me was sayin,MRHOGNUTS THAT IS WHY YOU ARE OBESE,,GET OFF YOUR FAT ASS,GROW UP AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR CONDITION!! ill never forget hearing dr phil say,"you cant be over weight,if your lifestyle doesnt support it....ye know how some things you hear just stick with ye? i know one thing, these hills are gettin easier(relatively speakin) every night,my legs are so much stronger,i didnt realize how out of walkin shape i was,,what a great feeling it is to look forward to my evenin walk, this is workin for me!

Screw that cold, rainey, nasty weather...tuff walking in that shit....mrhognuts,get into the gym during those nasty days....the treadmill will kick your ass and make you sweat..I really do not see any advantage for you by walking in the nasty weather..I will ask my trainer what he thinks and let you know....

Got a question for Viejo and Hognuts....Do you guys take a day off during the week? I started walking on my treadmill daily about a week ago. First day went till I couldn't go any longer. Each day I have added one minute to my walk time from the prior day. Last night felt pretty good after my walk, and actually did 30 reps on the ab machine. I know its not a lot, but it is a start. I need to get rid of my Corona gut, and my fast food ass. I'm only 5'8" and 235. Trying to kick my smoking habit also. Eating better. Only a week in to it and I feel a lot better. Just wondering if you guys take a day off, or is it 7 days a week? I wasn't sure if the body needed a rest day or not. Thanks for your help guys and inspiration.

ninety minutes this mornin in the snow,,viejo,i have lived in west palm beach and houston texas and the weather bored me to death,,i love the adversity and the more things change,(weather, location)the more curious i become,,when im out there fightin the elements everything stays fresh and i cant wait to see what the next day might bring,,when i eas a young man,i was always movin around, what i found out is,,,i missed the "bad"weather in ky,,,crazy but its true...

hell onwheels, welcome compadre,,when i first started i could only walk every other day, after a couple weeks i learned to push myself on monday, take it easy on tuesday, push myself on wednesday and so forth,,,i didnt really plan it that way but your body will let you know when to take a break..,,after i walk my ass off in the mornin im always thinkin that 2mor i might take a dy off but after 24 hours pass my body is refreshed and ready to go,,,i took about 5 days off durin christmas because i got tired,,after i fulfill this 30 day commitment i might take another week off if i need it,,the trick is to learn the difference between laziness and your body actually needin a break.
