btw Zaire's transfer is really a non-issue IMHO. I just don't think he's that good. I wanted him at Pitt over Max Browne but he's not SEC-title caliber (then again are any UF QB's SEC caliber?) ... much ado about nada

extremely important weekend for the Tide as it's their Sun-Wed camp. Lots of kids show up today...some stay and camp, some just visit with the coaches. Completely loaded group including Zamir White, Justyn Ross, and KJ Henry. Interested in seeing if Armour-Davis will show up. He was set to verbally commit (and most assumed Bama) but backed out 24 hours before the press conference. Other than White and Henry (both are from NC) the camp is largely attended by AL, GA, and LA kids. It's also the barn's annual "big cat weekend" so a lot can always been inferred by which kids leave ttown and head to the plains vs which stay and camp....

lesser known RB, Master Teague, lit it up at Bama camp today. Ran b2b 4.31 and 4.32 40's ... that's insane

he's only 3 star as he plays against very weak competition but could earn Bama offer after this camp. Has recent offers from VT, TN, UGA, ND, and USCe. Not too many kids out there running consistent 4.3's

walterfootball.com put out their way too early 2019 nfl draft mock and have UGA QB Eason going 1st overall.... Bama's monster OT, Jonah Williams, is listed as the 2nd pick

Former John Curtis All-American offensive lineman Willie Allen announced his intentions to transfer from LSU on Sunday night. The 6-foot-7, 310-pound Allen redshirted in 2016, his first year with the Tigers. A former Under Armour All-American, Allen was a four-star recruit according to ESPN and 247 Sports coming out of Curtis.
Allen is the third offensive lineman to transfer from LSU following the 2016 season. Tackle Chidi Okeke and center Andy Dodd also left the program.
Allen is also the second high school All-American to announce his transfer in the last week as Saivion Smith, a former five-star prospect, said he was leaving the school on May 31.

RT, I'm not very excited about it to be honest. I wanted to see what Franks can do, let him take some lumps, and get ready for 2018 to be "the" year. If Zaire starts UF is in the same boat next year.

The Elite 11 Camp just happened. I can't believe the kid from north Georgia, Jaren Williams, is going to stick w/ his Kentucky commitment. Florida has put all it's eggs in the Fields basket, and I'm not sure they'll be able to get him. For a self-proclaimed QB "guru" McElwain can't recruit a QB to save his life (or maybe his job).

Watching the Lady Gators softball right now, playing Game 1 vs Oklahoma in the WCWS.

The Elite 11 Camp just happened.
yeah today was day 3 (final day) an the 12 invited to The Openning Jun 28 and are:

cooper, corral, fields, lawrence, leary, mckee, patterson, rogers, shough, thompson-robinson, tuttle, and williams

i think FLA still has a shot with Williams and still think milton is a possibility. saw some highlights from the weekend and his arm is sick but unfortunately have no idea which direction it will go. reminds me a lot of Phillip Sims who transferred out of Bama after he lost the QB competition to AJ McCarron. Milton has a crazy arm

highlights from the E11 semifinals that ended today:

Strongest Arm

Matt Corral — The USC pledge can drive the ball down the field on go routes or rip the ball through the defense on a dig. In a camp with plenty of live arms, Corral looked to have the best when it came to overall arm strength.
Top Gunslinger

Devin Leary — The N.C. State commit has garnered the reputation of being a bit of a ‘grip and rip’ quarterback. The strong-armed New Jersey native is decisive and looks for the big play instead of constantly settling for the easy check downs. Leary’s playing style is entertaining to watch as he manages the offense.
Best College Fit

Justin Rogers — After watching the TCU commit throughout the weekend, you could not help but think the Bossier City, La. native will thrive in the Horned Frogs offense. The athletic 6-foot-4, 205-pound prospect is capable of getting TCU back to its air raid ways with a big arm. The scary part about Rogers is the fact he still looks to be improving and on an upward trajectory as a player.
Rankings Riser

Quincy Patterson — The Virginia Tech pledge is currently a three-star recruit. That might change after this weekend’s showing. At 6-foot-4, 230-pounds, Patterson was the most physically developed quarterbacks at the camp. Patterson also flashed a strong arm capable of hitting throws down the field. The weekend only help Patterson’s stock.
Gamer

Cammon Cooper — The Washington State commit was in the middle of the pack, at best, through two days of workouts. Then the 7on7 portion of the camp came, and Cooper was lights out good. The 6-foot-4, 200-pound signal caller completed 17 of 20 passes for five scores as he carved up the defense.
Quickest

Re-al Mitchell — The Iowa State pledge is on the shorter side at 5-foot-10. However, the California native proved to be an explosive athlete when asked to move around the pocket or roll out. Mitchell was quick avoiding “pass rushers” in drills, and was extremely comfortable moving outside the confines of the pocket.
Most Improved Day 1 to 3

Carter Bradley — The Jacksonville (Fla.) Providence signal caller was solid during the throwing circuit on Friday. Bradley upped his play during the pro day simulation displaying a strong, accurate arm. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound prospect then saved his best performance for last as he excelled on deep balls during 7on7 play. It appeared Bradley became more and more sure of himself as the weekend went on.
Most Consistent

Jarren Williams — The Kentucky commit was consistently good from start to finish. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound prospect is not as flashy with his play as others, but he was certainly an effective passer. The Georgia native looks to be a very reliable option at the game’s most important position.
Best Mechanics

Jack West — The Stanford pledge remains tall in the pocket, has a quick and compact delivery with a high release point. In all, the 6-foot-4, 217-pound prospect is very sound fundamentally.

[h=2]No ‘Alpha’ Emerged[/h]247Sports’ signature feature is naming an ‘Alpha Dog’ at the various camps and competitions held throughout the year. Tabbing the top quarterback from this Elite 11 Finals proved to be a tough task. Certainly, no signal caller separated from the pack the way Alabama signee Tua Tagovailoa did a year ago.
Perhaps the quarterback that has the strongest argument is USC commit Matt Corral, who was the only quarterback to finish inside the top 5 of 247Sports’ rankings the first two days. However, a 9 of 15 for two touchdown performance during the 7on7 portion, the camp’s most important session, was a middle of the pack outing.
After Saturday’s pro day simulation, it looked as if Corona (Calif.) Centennial’s Tanner McKee had positioned himself to earn the top overall billing. However, as a Church of Latter-day Saints member, McKee did not take part in Sunday’s 7on7, the weekend’s most important event. The 6-foot-6, 220-pound McKee unleashed a series of NFL-like throws during that pro-day, but missing the most important measuring stick of the camp makes it hard to tab McKee in the top spot.
The top performer during the 7on7 portion, Washington State commit Cammon Cooper, was in the lower half the group during the pro day simulation on Saturday night and the throwing circuit the quarterbacks did on day one. He certainly upped his play during the most important session, but was it enough to erase two below average outings previously?
Another quarterback that has an argument for top billing on the weekend is UCLA pledge Dorian Thompson-Robinson. Each day, he improved his standing on 247Sports’ daily rankings landing at No. 11 following the opening day’s throwing circuit, No. 5 after the pro-day simulation, and No. 3 following the 7on7 portion.
The two quarterbacks that most expected to be competing for the to spot heading into the camp, Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields, were only solid. Neither pulled away from the pack like expected, but both certainly flashed an elite skill-set that has them so highly ranked. Both also ended the week with fairly pedestrian 7on7 showings.
[h=2][/h][h=2]Questions about composite 5-stars[/h]Heading into the camp, we stated a desire to see more from a pair of quarterbacks short of a five-star grade at 247Sports, despite being five-stars on the industry-generated composite.
Ohio State commit Emory Jones was inconsistent at both the Atlanta and Charlotte Elite 11 Regionals. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound would unleash an elite-level throw, only to follow it by short hopping his receiver. To be blunt, he was inconsistent. This weekend, Jones came out on fire during day one, but slowly saw his level of play fall off through the week. His consistency was significantly better than his previous performances this spring, but still disappointing he couldn’t keep up his level of play from day one the following two outtings.
Washington commit Jacob Sirmon was the other composite five-star 247Sports had on notice. The No. 28 in the nation ranking next to Sirmon’s name comes with lofty expectations. Unfortunately, the 6-foot-4, 225-pound prospect did not earn a top 11 ranking from 247Sports any of the three days at Elite 11. Simply put, he did not answer the bell this weekend, while others with lower ratings out-shined him regularly during the three open throwing periods.
[h=2][/h][h=2]Sunshine State Sleeper[/h]Jacksonville (Fla.) Providence’s Carter Bradley is currently ranked as the nation’s No. 820 overall prospect in the 2018 class according to the industry generated 247Sports Composite.
However, the 6-foot-3, 195-pound prospect turned in one of the better performances of the Elite 11 Finals earning No. 6 ranking after the pro day simulation and a No. 2 ranking after the 7on7 session by 247Sports. Bradley showed that he belonged in the group of 24 competing in Los Angeles, and registered a better performance than some other signal callers with a higher rating.
Bradley did not earn an invitation to The Opening, but his showing during the pro day simulation and the 7on7 were worthy of advancing.
[h=2][/h][h=2]Cusp of a 4th Star[/h]Two quarterbacks currently sitting on an 89 grade, the highest of the three-stars at 247Sports, are Virginia Tech commit Quincy Patterson and Kentucky commit Jarren Williams. Both made strong cases to finally earn that fourth star.
The 6-foot-4, 230-pound Patterson is physically stout, but he flashed the ability to make elite-level throws. He uncorked some beautiful vertical routes throughout the week.
The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Williams is just so fundamentally sound in everything he does. Perhaps the biggest take away from the weekend with Williams was during his pro day simulation when he showed off arm strength not yet seen from him prior.
[h=2]The Opening’s 12 QBs[/h]The 12 quarterbacks that advanced to The Opening later this month were Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields, Tanner McKee, Tyler Shough, Matt Corral, Dorian Thompson-Robinson, Jack Tuttle, Devin Leary, Cammon Cooper, Quincy Patterson, Jarren Williams, and Justin Rogers.
Both Cooper and Shough were in middle of the 24 quarterback pack at best until having stellar 7on7 outings. Carter Bradley’s performance during the pro day simulation and 7on7, where he took the most risks down the field, gave him a very strong case to make this top 12.
Iowa State commit Re-al Mitchell also made a strong bid to be in the top 12 as well. Despite being the shortest quarterback competing, Mitchell still threw the ball well the first two days before exploding with a five touchdown performance during 7on7 play.

great recruiting week for Sumlin at aTm ... Rivals ranks the best recent commits and aTm post 3 of them....Georgia get their 5th commit

1. LB Teradja Mitchell, Ohio State – Why is this No. 1? Mitchell was a long-time lean to Florida State and Urban Meyer pulled him away. That’s what Meyer tends to do.
2. DB BJ Foster, Texas – The biggest commitment yet under Tom Herman? You could certainly make the case for Foster, who will help the defense immediately upon arrival.
3. QB Grant Gunnell, Texas A&M (2019) – How can a 2019 be so high? Simply because it’s a highly coveted in-state quarterback and we all know that QBs make the world go around. Lots of schools wanted this kid.
4. DE Max Wright, Texas A&M – A non-stop motor and powerful edge rusher who can play the run is much needed for the Aggies and Wright is a potential defensive leader.
5. QB Justin Rogers, TCU – A great get for Gary Patterson here as Rogers could be special and light up Big 12 defenses after some development.
6. DB Leon O’Neal, Texas A&M – Another key defensive piece for the Aggies, O’Neal is rangy, likes to hit and is an elite safety.
7. OL Warren Ericson, Georgia – UGA may be struggling in recruiting early for 2018 but the need at offensive line remains and this is an important in-state get.

Good stuff RT. Some good QBs on those lists....with very few picking SEC schools.

yeah strange not seeing a bama commit get to the opening finals but, then again, we have no qb commit .... no rb commit ... no wr commit .... no te commit ... :smoking:

as a Pitt fan will be watching Carter Bradley this weekend. while he's not committed yet he's about 94.5% a Pitt commit. Maybe that other 5.5% would go to Pitt's nemesis, Paul Chryst and Wisconsin ... but they got the chase wolf commit at ben bryant's expense and I'm sure that did not go unnoticed by Bradley. His dad is the DC of the Chargers

assuming Bradley is Pitt bound that makes a pretty interesting "best 12" list of QB arrivals to Pitt, Va Tech, NC State, Wash State, Iowa State, UK, TCU ... not exactly the blue bloods of college football

in news that makes me giddy the #1 or #1 QB in the nation, Justin Fields, has just decommitted from State Penn .... they have now lost their top 2 recruits in the 2018 class cheersgif

Fields vs Lawrence will be THE story in Eugene this weekend with a chance to become the #1 overall player in the class or at least, certainly, the #1 QB

[h=2]Five-star QB Justin Fields decommits from Penn State[/h]BWI Staff | Rivals.com
The recruitment for the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback in the Class of 2018 is open again.
Justin Fields, a five-star prospect from Harrison High in Kennesaw, Ga., announced Tuesday night that he was backing off his verbal commitment to Penn State. He had previously selected the Nittany Lions in December.

Fields recently made a 99-spot leap in the recruiting rankings, earning a fifth star from Rivals.com and soaring into the nation's top 10. With suitors coming from all over to recruit Fields, it's expected that Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia and Tennessee are the schools that make Fields' short list.
In his statement, released via Twitter, Fields said that Penn State "will remain one of the top schools that I would consider."
Offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead was in attendance for Fields' spring game at Harrison in May. Fields had also visited Penn State's campus as recently as for the Blue-White Game in April.

IMO he is quite likely to be the next Gator QB but he did visit Daboll and Saban in ttown last month (but cannot see him committing with Tua, Mac, and Jalen already in Crimson). anyway this is what QB guru at the Elite 11 had to say about Justin Fields...more or less he is Jameis Winston 2.0

Coach Mac and Nuss should be making it rain tonight...this is the guy they were waiting for and now, i think, he's theirs

“I think Justin Fields is the overall package. The scary thing is that his demeanor, his engine doesn’t really run hot at all,” said Whitfield. “He kinda stays and hangs at a five. If something big happens, he stays at a five, if he misses a throw or a read, it doesn’t affect him either. I guess it’s like any big jet or bomber, the weather along the flight is really insignificant for them.

“I can’t believe you have that type of size, athleticism, speed, quickness, arm strength, vision - it’s almost like he’s built in a lab."

talked to one of the major Bama recruiting knowledge experts just now and he believes Fields is 60/35/5 with Florida/Auburn/Georgia. Unless he comes for official visit this fall to Bama he doesn't see a fit. Of course I will be rooting for Coach Mac and Kirby to get this kid signed and kept off the plains. he is the real deal....

RT, McElwain's been very unimpressive as a recruiter....especially w/ QBs - considering he's a self-proclaimed "QB guru" (he said he could win w/ his dog, Clarabelle, playing QB). He and this staff have put ALL their eggs in this basket. If they don't land him.....well, he could be done at UF...especially if Franks is a dud (which is the fear since they went after Zaire). We'll see.

McElwain currently has the #1 ranked 2019 class - which will obviously change before Feb 2019....in fact, they have more commits to the 2019 class (8) than they do to the 2018 class (7).

Thanks for all the updates/posts.

Really shocking about Stoops. I'd love to hear the real story there. Odd timing.

I saw that Bama just lost a DE (to transfer) and lost a LB last week (to transfer). They have 2 "blueshirts" who are owed scholarships....but the one that interests me is the Grayshirt kid, DE Jarez Parks. A 4-star DE from Florida, and top 100 recruit. How in the hell did they convince him to take a Grayshirt as a top 100 recruit?? Curious if they'll have the numbers to take him in the fall w/ these recent transfers.

yeah was a couple 3stars Smith and Jennings that were never going to play. Parks is a long story i discussed quite a bit on here and he will not be a 2017 scholarship player unless one of the incoming freshman fails to qualify or doesn't show up (ain't happening). he will stay a greyshirt. right now we're looking at 22 for 2018 class and the 2017 class is set at the max 25
