doug , although i am agnostic and my grammar sucks , i do appreciate your input ... i think u r right , if we both did believe in god , we'd have a better triangle ....without being phony ...for now, we have to believe in each other ....although its not as bonding as a 3rd influence , i hope that our common values / goals/ n interests can be that top tear triangle ...thanx
Well, now we're getting somewhere...from the other thread where we tangled, I thought you said you were an atheist. An agnostic is much better in my opinion...
agnostic definition
n. 1. a. One who believes that it is impossible to know whether there is a God.
b. One who is skeptical about the existence of God but does not profess true atheism.
...how can anyone be an atheist because as I have said ad nauseum, finite little man could never disprove God's existence. There's an old gospel hymn, "God is love, and he who abides in love, abides in God, and God in him." Neither you nor your new wife need to believe in God in order for God to exist. But if you truly love your wife, and you search for the Truth in this world, then God will find you. This reminds me of another prayer, at my age, everything reminds me of a prayer, LOL. This is Thomas Merton's prayer...
CONTEMPLATION
If you seek contemplation, you will probably never find it. But if you dare to open your heart to your own inner truth and to God's grace, contemplation may enter your life unobserved. Then, perhaps for the first time, you will know who you are and in knowing yourself you will know God; for it is He who holds within Himself the secret of your identity.
