3k Minnesota -126 (Super Mega Blowout Winner 17-5)

I am leaning towards the Twins and my stronger play is on the over in this one. Gonzalez had a five ERA in the minors this season, and he gave up five runs in his lone start in the Majors this season so I do not feel comfortable siding with him. Duffey is coming off his best outing of the season and I feel more confident siding with him over Gonzalez. My main play is on the over as we have two pitchers that will give up runs, Gonzalez gave up five runs in his start and Duffey has a 5.59 ERA so I think we will see a very high scoring ball game.

7k Chicago White Sox -106 (Winner 7-6)

I am going with Sale and the White Sox in this match up. Sale has been too good to go against him, he tossed a one run complete game against Houston earlier this season, and has completely dominated the Astros posting an incredible 0.66 ERA against them in his career. Plus, Sale is 6-1 with a dazzling 1.99 ERA on the road this season so I think the White Sox won’t need many runs to get the win in this one.

3k Detroit -127 (Winner 3-2)

Verlander should bounce back from his rough outing and the Rays aren’t a good offensive team. Meanwhile, Snell should keep that very good Detroit lineup in check at least a time through since the Tigers don’t know him. Detroit has won seven of its past 9 vs. lefties. The Rays are 2-6 in their past eight at home vs. teams with a winning record.

5k LA Angels Over 10 -115 (Super Easy Mega Blowout Winner 23 Runs)

Buchholz has a 5.69 ERA at home, but that’s actually better than his road ERA. I barely trust him or Santiago here, so you have to love the over. I’m leaning Boston simply as the Red Sox are home and have the superior lineup. The Angels are 0-7 in their past seven road games vs. teams with a winning home record. The Sox have won 13 of their past 18 on Saturday.

5k Washington -1.5 +104 (Lost)

Drew Straily has pitched well, but the Reds are a mess right now and I can’t endorse them. I think Joe Ross will be gritty and pitch well enough to get another win. The Nationals‘ bats are also starting to wake up. Let’s take the Nationals at home on Saturday.

The Washington Nationals are:

6-1 in Ross’ last 7 home starts vs. a team with a losing record.
5-1 in Ross’ last 6 starts with 4 days of rest.

The Cincinnati Reds are:

22-61 in their last 83 road games vs. a team with a winning record.
0-5 in their last 5 games after losing the first 2 games of a series.

5k Chicago Cubs -1.5 -115 (Lost)

The Cubs have not played well vs winning teams of late, but I see them taking this one behind Jake Arrieta on the mound. Especially here on the road where the Cubs have won 23 of his last 28 starts. Bartolo Colon has pitched well this year and of late, but still he has never beaten the Cubs and I just don’t see it happening here. Chicago lost game one of this series, but still they are clearly the better team with the much better starter on the mound in this one.

Chicago is:

22-5 in Arrieta’s last 27 starts with four days of rest

New York is:

3-7 in their last 10 home games vs. a right-handed starter

The Yankees still are scratching their heads trying to figure out what they actually are as the calendar flips to July. San Diego knows that they are pretty much out of the playoff picture at this point in time. The Padres moved Fernando Rodney to the Marlins in a deal Thursday and he may be the first piece moved. Pomeranz could be an effective pitcher for a team looking for a quality arm if the Padres decide to make a deal. As it stands, he should pitch well enough to lead San Diego to a victory in this contest.

July 3rd Play of The Day:

7k St Louis -1.5 +120 (Lost)

The Cards have now gone 45-20 the last 65 in this series after taking game one by a 7-1 score and I see them keeping that going here. Chase Anderson has really been struggling of late and has been bad of the road this year and while Michael Wacha has struggle at home this year, he is still 15-8 here and he has been pitching better of late with a 2.66 ERA in his last three starts overall. The Cards need to win their home games and it’s a plus that they have a bad Brewers road team in this one. Look for the Cards to grab a nice home win in this one.

5k LA Angels +102 (Lost)

5k LA Angels Over 10 -110 (Blowout Winner 15 Runs)

I am taking the Angels in this matchup. Shoemaker has been solid as of late, posting a 2.14 ERA in the month of June, plus he has tossed 10.2 shutout innings in his career against the Red Sox, so I am confident siding with him. Also O’Sullivan has not looked good at the Major League level this season so the Angels should be able to get to him for some runs. The Red Sox have not been playing good baseball as of late so I think the Angels are the play in this one.

5k Seattle -145 (Super Blowout Winner 9-4)

5k Seattle Over 9 +106 (Easy Blowout Winner 13 Runs)

Jimenez won his last two starts but those both came against a San Diego lineup that isn’t exactly a powerhouse. The Orioles have a good offense and a solid bullpen with quality arms. They may need both in order to make things happen here. Iwakuma has been very good despite the fact that the results haven’t been there. Still, it will be a tough task for the Orioles to work around Jimenez’s issues. He allows a lot of baserunners, which leads to plenty of scoring chances. Seattle takes the win in the finale.

5k Pittsburgh +131 (Easy Blowout Winner 6-3)

During the course of his four start career, Daniel Mengden has actually been making more quality starts than Liriano has during that same time. Still, I’m going to lean towards Pittsburgh here, because they are just the better overall team, and these games mean something to them. It’s not a very confident pick, but I like the Pirates in a low scoring game.

5k San Diego +104 (Lost)

It’s tough to tell what to expect from the Yankees as a whole and Green on the mound. He’s been terrific in Triple-A but it hasn’t translated to success at the major league level so far. Cashner will likely be on a pitch count here after being on the shelf for three weeks. With the Padres though, you know what you’re getting on a daily basis. The Yankees are Jekyll and Hyde, which is extremely tough to formulate an opinion on. The Padres have the edge on the mound here and that should help deliver the victory on getaway day.

July 4th Play Of The Day

7K Boston -1.5 -110 (Super Blowout Winner 12-5)

I am going with the Red Sox in this one. The Red Sox scored four runs including two home runs against Martinez less than two weeks ago, so they should be able to plate multiple runs against this time around in their home ball park. Also, Porcello has been excellent at home, posting a 6-0 record with a 3.48 ERA at Fenway Park this season, so I am confident Porcello can lead his team to victory in this one.

5K Minnesota -118 (Lost)
5K Minnesota Over 10 -106 (Lost)

I am leaning towards the Twins and my stronger play is on the over. While Nolasco has struggled he pitches well against Oakland, posting a 3.00 ERA in his career against the Athletics so I feel more confident siding with him. I really like the over as we have two pitchers that will give up multiple runs as Graveman has a weak 6.38 ERA on the road this season, and Nolasco has an ERA over five this year. The offense on both teams has been hot lately and I think the Twins take this one in a high scoring ballgame.

July 5th Play of The Day

7k Houston -143 (Easy Winner 5-2)

The Mariners were hot over the weekend but they have issues picking up road victories. The Astros have been one of the hotter teams in the American League in the past month or so. Houston has climbed their way back into the AL wild card race, which should spur interest from the fans. Keuchel has won two straight starts and pitches well at Minute Maid Park. He makes it three straight wins by knocking off the Mariners in a tight game.

5k LA Angels Over 8.5 -105 (Super Blowout Winner 18 Runs)

Going to look to the Over in this game. Both pitching staffs have been horrid of late and I see these offenses taking advantage. The Angels offense broke out some in their series vs the Red Sox, and that should continue here vs a Rays team that is giving up runs at wholesale right now. The Rays offense is nothing special, especially here at home, but Tim Lincecum has really struggled in his last two starts and the Rays do hit a lot of homers. We also have some struggling pens in this game as well. It all adds up to at least 10 runs

5k Boston -1.5 -108 (Lost) 5400

David Price has been itching at another crack at Texas after the horrible showing in Arlington two weeks ago and I see him having a focused effort here vs a team that just isn’t the same on the road as they are at home. The Rangers injuries to their staff may be starting to catchup with them as they have allowed 22 runs in their last two games and A.J. Griffin was hit hard in his lone appearance in this park a few years ago. Boston needs this game bad and they should get a win here vs a slumping Texas Squad.

I am going with the Giants in this match up. Cueto has allowed only one earned run in 14.1 innings pitched against the Rockies this season and he has a dazzling 2.35 career ERA against them so I am very confident siding with him. Also, De La Rosa has an 8.22 ERA with a .333 opponent batting average on the road this season so the Giants should be able to plate multiple runs off De La Rosa, paving their way to another victory in this one.

The San Francisco Giants are:

12-0 in Cueto’s last 12 starts against a team with a losing record.
8-0 in Cueto’s last 8 starts with 4 days of rest.
6-1 in their last 7 home games against a left handed starter.

The Colorado Rockies are:

7k Chicago Cubs -1.5 -130 (Lost)

I am taking the Cubs in this one. Harrell will be facing a tough task against the Cubs heavy hitting offense and I think they will score a bunch of runs off him. He is not a great pitcher who has a 4.79 career ERA and I think he is in trouble in this one. Also this game is a perfect opportunity for Hammel to get back on track against a weak Braves offense. Hammel pitches well at Wrigley Field where he has a 2.78 ERA so I am confident siding with him. I would even take the Cubs on the run line in this one.
