it may have been mentioned before, but betting posters isnt a good idea

Doug had a very good idea about "booking it" through Matchbook. Will cosst each side a few bucks, but it secures the money & avoids a lot of problems.

WVU...I hope you pay the man his money if you lose and have the decency to appear before the series starts...you are really looking like the bad guy here and please don't come back and blame your real estate problems or your new girlfriend that moved in with you...

It has to be sooner than tip off since LD will probably want to hedge his bet.

I still say that if he isn't heard from, and he (WVU) wins the bet, that he sends LD 14,000 to LD, before he can collect the 1000. It would just show good faith that he had the money to pay if he had lost. Tha's the only way I would pay him if WVU won the bet.

lap ain't hedgeing nothing. got three dimes to win 36k. i know that 22k are guaranteed and i think the other 14k was also.

I would never expect some anonymous internet poster guy (no matter how much you think you know him) to pay me friggin $14,000 over an online bet. It's absurd to believe he'd pay that much money to another anonymous internet poster guy. A couple thousand and it'd be different, but 14 grand? WVU was an idiot for making that bet in the first place.

no chance lapdance.
you have zero to win zero.

I like the no hedge policy though. good stuff. I like the celtics here in the series, but my opinion aside, I like your no hedge policy. Hedging good bets unless you want to get off is not good

If WVU plans to stiff... why would he stop posting ?

He could just post as normal, then stiff once LAL win, nobody would know until that happens, then he'd get paid if Boston wins.

Now he looks bad, no matter what happens ( short of paying the 14k).

Very messy situation, and unfair to Lapdance with all this doubt about payment.

WVU is just another broke degenerate like Journey getting involved in amounts that are too large for them - I was going to say I hope the C's win - but seeing that you have another 2 dimes on the Lakers I will be rooting for LA - it's still a nice pay out and off the chart odds - hope LA sweeps and it's never in doubt

You make a very good point ... what was the upside to stopping posting 2 months ago ?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's one man's guess on how this situation will unfold:

WVU won't show up either way ....

The glory days for him are over ... there's no more "managing" 153 different names/accounts to scam casino bonuses ... the ability to make a decent amount of money scalping through sportsbook bonuses is a thing of the past ... the real estate market is tanking .... etc. ... and as such, the Rx forum is of very little use to him financially.

He left the Rx on a bad note when he stopped posting, and I doubt he'll be back, win or lose .... if he wins the bet, I don't think he has the audacity to show up 5 minutes after Boston clinches and say "Hi felllas, what's up, where's my $1,000 ?" ... I don't think the $1,000 means that much to him, even with his current financial situation ... but if he loses, and is on the hook for $14K, I definitely don't think he'll be showing up, chequebook in hand, ready to cut a cheque for $14K after the Lakers win ... in his current situation, $14K is a fair chunk of money, especially considering that he presumably doesn't have much income these days ... 3 or 4 years ago, back in his multiple account bonus whoring heyday, I think he would have paid the $14K ... today, with all his income sources dried up, and with a bad taste in his mouth over the whole Rx/moderator thing, I have serious doubts about whether you will ever see him again.

it's 100% absolutely critical for a decision to be made by SOMEBODY related to this mess to determine if WVU will rcv winning payment if he doesn't surface before the series starts and BOS wins. Two very ugly things could happen ...

- he suddenly appears and an epic war erupts over whether he should be paid or not. -- or --
- he doesn't appear and Cardsfan has to fwd the 1k via whatever means WVU has previously made known to Rx friends and/or mgmt.

those two scenarios are just going to blow the roof off this forum. that's why my earlier question of : "is there a known means to pay WVU if he stays silent?" is so relevant ... does that make sense?

I'm personally thinking those two scenarios will NOT happen... but they COULD and they need to be remedied before they do b/c they could really F this forum up. not saying mgmt is responsible for this on any level, but if LP gets F'd on this, it's just going to be uglier than ugly.

on the bright side, I have a feeling that WVU may win the bet, make his appearance after that happens and forgive the bet. I think he will do that and offer the forum and lengthy explanation and apology to the RX and to LP. He'll put himself at the mercy of the court. That's really his best chance at salvaging any character out of this... and that's ONLY IF HE WINS AND FORGIVES THE BET !!!

what an incredibly F'd up situation this is !
