what a bullshit place.

Do you bet horses offshore? I suspect not, because this(or a very similar rule) is THE NORM.

Anyone who has done any research whatsoever should be damn aware of the rules at the books that they play at-this did not come out of nowhere-it's been in place for YEARS at A LOT of books.

After some indepth thought; I have to ask a few serious questions..Smokey how old are you sir? How long have you been betting horses (online and at the track if old enough). I think this thread is agenda driven. I never defend a book and want VER badly to side with the player. But unless you are either a COMPLETE MORON or your elevator does not go to the top floor (assuming you are of legal age)--than you are looking for something for nothing!

Pubs, my answer to that is that no one with a clue should be playing any high odds combinations\exotics at any book with these limits. Check the rules at your books-you'll probably be surprised.

Ignorance of the rules is no excuse, and anyone with a clue is WELL AWARE of the rules.

Ok.....Plain and simple here now. Smokeywins hit the trifecta on the Kentucky Derby. What they paid out at the track was 11,400 or somewhere in that area code. The headings on their page as said before said that they would payout the same as at the track. Its as easy and as simple as that to understand. No need to read the rules when it says what it says on their front page. I dont know Smokey one bit, but the man hit the Kentucky Derby trifecta, and he should be rewarded. Too me when you predict the trifecta in the greatest horse race of the year you should be rewarded and if not the books should make it known loud and clear and not hidden somewhere behind the scenes. Than to go and change their payouts on future Triple Crown races after this fiasco? Im not buying it. Multi million dollar business and you cant afford to pay the man 11,000 plus? Thats not saying much for you WSEX. Ill leave it at that, but I am definitly in Smokeys corner.

EGD,
I can say that his standing in the sports betting world has no bearing on my thought with this matter. I don't know you, Smokey or 99% of the posters here from a hole in the wall. That being said, I still think the liability falls on Smokey's shoulders. It's a rule. Could it have been clearer? Yes, but the rule is still in place.

On a side note, three major contributors to the horse forum have all fallen on the same side of this issue whereas the majority of others that don't frequent the horse forums (and likely don't play horses offshore very often if ever) feel like the player is getting jobbed somehow. It's part of playing horses offshore.

I don't frequent this horse forum but I do frequent one whose whole site is about the sport. Whether or not the people who support him are contributors or not isn't the point.

I am just saying that eventhough WSEX does have a rule in place like most books, they did a horrible job with such a misleading statement. Thankfully they have correced it though.

Opening up a whole new can of worms. I have a question. If the books are going to offer online betting for horse races why arent they willing to pay the same as the track pays out? Too me its bullshit. With this situation that has occured here I believe that the sportsbooks will lose some horse racing bettors that will take their action else where.....such as TVG and other specific racing sites. Why would you bet at a book that is not going to pay the amount that they release at the track.

Im amazed that they have gotten by with this for such a long period of time.:smoking:

Hmmm, okay-so it did say "full track payouts". That is somewhat messier

(bear with me-running on extremely minimal sleep after the DLH fight, a Vegas all nighter, and an 8am flight home.)

I could have sworn I saw "full track odds" when I initially read it.

WHAT IS WSEX.COM THINKING......

I AM A MARKETING MAN AND I GUESSS THEY SHOULD HIRE ME OR SOMEONE ELSE.... BECAUSE THIS COULD BE SPUN SOOOO HUGE IN THIER FAVOR....
