When i was in grade school and Shaq was leaving LSU at the time, he was in Indy for the final 4 as a spectator, I tried to get autograph and his exact words were

"GET OUT OF MY FACE PUNK" .......Hated him ever since and it is ashame he is not living the life destined for him

Nicest guy I met was maybe surprisingly Jim Calhoun. I am sure there are others but that is all I can remember right now. also met Dick Vitale but he is an idiot.

I met magic Johnson in 1990 at a basketball clinic in north east d.c., nice guy. I still have a picture of him teaching me how to dribble properly( I had on some striped blue tube socks, with Boris Becker sneakers, haha). Another nice guy I met was Darrell green, I was at redskins training camp, me and another who used to post here( jmoney). We were trying to get his autograph and he was leaving practice and got on a golf cart to transport him back to the building. The driver ran over my foot and another kid, he instantly told the driver to get off the cart and then green apologized to us. Classy guy.

I met one of the nicest guys in sports and the biggest a-hole in sports I ever met in the same day at the same golf outing about 30 years ago. Was playing in a charity event near Boston with some friends and Bobby Orr and Carl Yazstremski were going to be guest players and speakers for the event. I was a huge hockey fan at the time so was really looking forward to meeting Orr. It was a shotgun start so most of the players were on the putting green when Orr showed up. He came over and mingled with everyone shaking hands and having conversations with everyone. After about 10-15 minutes we all notice Yaz making his way towards the putting green. As he approached the putting green, without his putter, he seemed to ignore all the players and was only focused on Orr. Sure enough, he walked straight to Orr without saying a word to anyone, shook Orr's hand and carried on a conversation with him for about a minute and then just walked off without saying a word to anyone else. What a fucking A-Hole!!! Growing up in New England, I always had respect for Yaz as a player, but lost all respect for him as a person after that day.

The tournament was set up so that both Orr and Yaz would ride around and play 1 hole with each 4some. As we were playing our round I was hoping that Orr would be the one who joined our group and sure enough as we were getting ready to put out on a certain hole, we saw Orr drive up and say that he would join us on the next hole. As Orr watched the 4 of us all miss our putts on the green, he casually looked at as all and said, " I bet if we putt a little hair around that hole you guys wouyld be able to find it." We all got a good laugh and then proceeded to have a great time playing the next hole with the greatest hockey player I have ever seen. A great memory that was tarnished a bit because of the meeting with a great ballplayer(Yaz)who turned out to be the biggest jerk in sports I ever met...

Why do you say that?

I remember as a 14 year old kid in New England, watching him have an MVP year in 1978 is a great memory.
Just because a player is great and was an MVP doesn't mean he can't be an A-Hole as a person as you can see by my story above about Yaz...

I wasn't gonna respond to this post but I will because I was shocked to read several people mention Warren Sapp. I've met Sapp on 3 different occasions, right after he got drafted outta UM and he was never shitty towards me, but a buddy of mine used to sell him clothes at the Polo Store in Burdines (local store in dadeland mall) in Miami and he was always ok with him. A few weeks later he was back in the Mall and my buddy went up to help him and Sapp said "nah, i'm good, I'd rather deal with a brother." He had a "brutha" helpin' him which is cool, but he said it like he basically didn't want a white guy helping him any longer, lol.

Any other racist stories on Sapp? I'd like to hear some of the other dispicable stories some have.

Another complete dick is Hakeem and Gary Payton. Both ignored kids at Bayside when they asked them for an autograph -- this was at different times. Hakeem was with Barkley at the time. Barkley was cool.

I'm surprised and find it hard to believe MJ would be that way. I think he may of not had cash on him that day and was joking with the kid. I've never heard anything like that about him until now.

Not surprised by the racist brutha, most are like that. But I won't get into that.

But when I met Jordan, he was nice to me, got autograph and picture with him.( not everyone got pic) but his niceness prob. had almost all to do with the fact this was at his basketball camp and he was honorary coach for a game I was in. He even gave me a couple tips. The biggest thing i remember is how quick those guys are though. Michael Finley who was at that time in high school was there as well. Best kid there besides me( kidding)

My buddy and his brother were in Georgetown(d.c.) when Jordan played for the wizards. One of brothers went up to him and said I don't want an autograph, just to shake your hand. It's was outside an ice cream parlor. Jordan shook his hand while looking the other way, never made eye contact. The other brother told me he just wanted to punch jordan in his face, lol.

I can understand both sides of "prick or not". Some of these guys can not even go out for a simple dinner or ice cream or whatever without being approached non stop. I just never got that. Honestly, I could walk past any star athlete and would not hound them for anything. as a kid, i understand because everyone likes autographs, but as an adult, it is almost as if you are hitting on the professional athlete.

I am friends of a friend who is good friends with a certain NFL quarterback and I hung out with him a handful of times at bars, etc. and I never really brought up football because i know the guy gets hounded about that stuff all the time.
