Israel is NOT a key issue in this election. Except in YOUR head.
This is how politics works. For some people Israel is a key issue, just like for some the palestinian cause is a key issue, while for other it is economics or healthcare, or abortion or the war on terror.
You see, no one can tell anyone else what is important to them.
If jews base part of their vote on how each candidate will handle Israel, that is to be expected. It doesn't make them any less patriotic then someone who votes for a president for any other selfish measure like wanting your income tax rate reduced. Not many people vote for president based on which one will be better for the country, rather they normally vote for president based on which candidate is best for themselves.
As for the israel issue there are some jews that will vote for Obama because they like his approach on the subject, while some will vote for mccain. You will never see 90 percent of jews voting for 1 candidate like you might see from other groups of people.
