The average business doesn't have a quasi-monopoly with very little differentiation on price, quality, experience among competitors.

I'm sure a few SJW types will be on twitter saying to boycott but a few months from now when people are making their summer vacation plans, I don't think they're going to give this much thought.

As I type this the stock is flat while the market is slightly red.

Yeah,
this isn't like using a moving company that loses your furniture or buying something where you can write a bunch of negative reviews and it might impact future purchases.

However, airline profit margins are small and any bit of boycott does impact them.

United passenger threatened with handcuffs to make room for 'higher-priority' traveler

Fearns, like the doctor at the center of that viral video from Sunday night, held his ground. He was already on the plane, already seated. He shouldn’t have to disembark.

“That’s when they told me they needed the seat for somebody more important who came at the last minute,” Fearns said. “They said they have a priority list and this other person was higher on the list than me.”

He’s now considering a lawsuit against United — and he certainly has the resources to press his case.

I asked if he’ll ever fly United again.

Fearns could only laugh. “Are you kidding?”

New Footage of United Passenger Dragged Off Plane

New footage has emerged showing the argument between a United passenger and Chicago O’Hare Airport security guards moments before he was dragged from the plane on Sunday.Joya Griffin Cummings captured this video of the passenger, who has since been identified as Doctor David Dao of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, talking with the guards. Dao was also apparently in a telephone conversation with his lawyer and discussed suing United before the incident.
In a second clip Griffin Cummings recorded after Dao reboarded the plane he can be heard to say “I want to go home” repeatedly.
Dao was dragged from his seat and off the plane after the airline demanded four passengers be removed from the fully booked Louisville-bound flight to make space for four United employees. Videos shared on social media showed blood streaming from Dao’s face as he was dragged away and later when he reboarded the plane.

The story that has captured the internet's attention and initially dropped the value of a major airline's stock by $255 million dollars keeps on going.
The videos showing Dr. David Dao being forcibly pulled off his flight so that United Airlines employees could have his seat has become a PR nightmare for the company.
New footage (below) has emerged showing what happened in the moments prior to Dao's abrupt de-planing:
In the clip, Dao is seen telling the officers, "I am a physician and I have to work tommorrow." The officers insist that he has to de-board, but Dao tells them he is not going. "You can threaten, I will not go," he says adding, "I stay right there."
"This is going to be a lot harder if you refuse," says the officer. Dao pipes back, "I'd rather go to jail" than get off the plane.
The video's description reads:

Videos shared on social media showed blood streaming from Dao’s face as he was dragged away and later when he reboarded the plane.

United Chief Executive Oscar Munoz’s initial statement described the passenger’s behavior as “disruptive and belligerent” but in a new statement issued on April 11 he apologzied and promised “we will work to make it right.”

Dao was taken to a Chicago hospital for treatment. One of the aviation security officers involved in the incident has been placed on leave, according to the Chicago Department of Aviation.

We drop the largest non nuclear bomb in the history of the world today and zero posts about it. Luckily there are 3 posts about the gay doctor refusing to get off a United flight. Definitely have our priorities straight on this forum. SMH

I can never condone what happened to him, but I could never condone his behavior either

He's complicit, and he does have a history of behavior issues

The security officer that dragged him off the plane behaved ridiculously

Both parties have something messed up in their brains

Victim shaming is pathetic. Use the term 'victim' loosely , couldn't find a more appropriate word. As others have said when law enforcement gets involved it's a good idea to comply . He didn't . BOTH the Chicago Aviation and United have conceded - they acted inappropriately (thank goodness for smart phones and social media , eh? ..:)...). Hopefully this means airlines across the board will reassess . Personally , bumping should be banned . You kidding me? Walking up to the teller and they tell me I've been moved ? How's that for customer service/respect ? These airlines are making billions in gross income . GNF - they Give No Fuxk

back to the doc and for those mocking his past . What if a Rx forum member walked into his office - in distress , seeking aid .

The chap starts asking odd questions about your past /current behaviour .The dialogue ..

doc- ' you gamble sports? Why? It's illegal in our state . The authorities don't know ? Your winnings , are you paying tax on it ? Why not? Have you no shame? ......you have used illegal hallucinating drugs ? Huh? Why ? ........sorry , in good faith I cannot treat you '

rx member - 'what!! I need your help doc !! I'll sue!!'

doc- 'please leave . I'll call authorities . They will drag you out if need be'

:)

sounds like the Doc might just ask you for a blow job, all is good

United Airlines Did Not Have the Legal Right to Refuse Service to the Doctor Dragged Off Its Plane

The fact that the flight was not overbooked may seem trivial, or pedantic, but there is very important legal distinction to be made. There may not be a difference in how an airline (typically) responds when it needs additional seats, such as asking for volunteers who wish to give up their seat for a voucher or cash. But there is a legal difference between bumping a passenger in the instance of overselling a flight versus bumping a passenger to give priority to another passenger. Any thoughtful person can see the problem that arises if an airline were allowed to legally remove one fare-paying passenger to allow for another passenger it prefers.

The airline did more damage than the MOAB......36 people? What was that....a million for every half a person? Should have sent airline security instead at 16.00 an hour.
