Yates retains , wild day.pogacar good day,he needed it
Pinot is out and for Jumbo it's Roglic or nothing . Do they plan on setting the pace come stages 17,18 ? Dunno if they r deep enough after today -Roglic was left alone fir nearly 15 kms late . Was hoping Dumoulin would be stronger
Ricboff ,
Thanks for doing a fantastic job of reporting the blow by blow ! I watched race but have company so I will make my observations of today’s race later !
Today was a real Puzzler in many ways. I guess it’s far easier to just read the final results than to try to figure it out ! Pinot and Dumoulin are out of contention ! That’s Huge ! Pogacar gained some decent time and looked strong ! Yates showed lots of Guts but he’s not going to win the TDF this year unless I’m missing something. Despite the attacks and aggression by Jumbo-Visma, in the end The the Bernal/Roglic battle remains 10 seconds apart.
Tomorrow is another day in the Pyrenees but it’s not nearly as tough as today’s stage so perhaps Roglic and Bernal will be complacent to get to the first rest day Monday in their present situation! Of course it is the Pyrenees so what do I know ? Final thoughts about today as I was Really baffled as to why Roglic left Pogacar escape to gain back a lot of valuable time ! This would never happen during the Armstrong, Contador and Froome reigns. Maybe they simply couldn’t respond and in that case, Pogacar will be a factor come week 3 ! Let’s see what he shows us tomorrow.
yup, no way a Froome allows that. i think its cause Roglic was pretty much on his own , and didnt want to risk it. Their strategy backfired that is to try and set a Team Sky pace and wear everyone down-- crazy confident, didnt work!!
yeah, Yates gettign back into the peloton was awesome!! still has the yellow jersey!
roglic still remains the big fav. Bernal is 5 to 1? When's the last time we saw a Team Sky/Ineos leader at this odds during a TDF?
stage winner Pogacar , what a fickin sprint!!!! :44sec behind and back-to-back great days
'It’s really crazy after that hard day to win the stage. Thanks to the teammates, they did a really good job all day. I wanted to gain as much time as I could in GC but in the last few hundred metres I was focusing for the sprint. I don’t know what happened. I’m really happy so far, but only one stage was a little bit mistake. It’s really good so far.'
Id buy some Bernal at 7/1 ! Despite some very impressive days in the Pyrenees by Roglic, he has been unable to drop Egan Bernal and let’s face it Roglic leads Bernal by 21 seconds and every one of those seconds were bonus points ! Bonus seconds weren’t even awarded in the TDF For quite a few years being reinstated in 2015. One of the objections to bonus seconds was that it gained unfair advantages to the climbers that could also sprint quite well.
we have seen this exact scenario unfold so far in this years Tour. The really toughest mountain top finish still lies ahead ! However to be fair, Roglic looks great but this Pogacar youngster is impressive and certainly a threat! Rest Day tomorrow and I’m sure there are a lot of tired legs out there ! Good luck.
