ORCIERES-MERLETTE, FRANCE—After just four stages at the Tour de France, the balance of power is already clearer: Primoz Roglic and his Jumbo-Visma team are looking like the ones to beat.
Roglic, the Spanish Vuelta champion, used the race's first summit finish Tuesday in the ski resort of Orcieres-Merlette to erase any lingering doubts surrounding his form.

I wouldn’t really take too much away from today’s stage win by Roglic. We now know that he is not suffering any injuries from his fall in the Dauphine.
However today’s stage was a mountain top finish but not really that tough ! We must keep in mind that ALL the main contenders finished with the exact same time ! His gain was the 10 seconds for winning the stage. This is not the type of stage that will win you the TDF. There are some far tougher stages coming in week 3. Today’s stage never looked to me like a Bernal stage ! The gradient And length was far too easy ! One thing is clear however for Team Ineos..... Bernal is their man ! Richard Carapaz who won the 2019 Giro was right up front in the final K but faded to now be 45 seconds back. It remains to seen if Carapaz who was training for the Giro In October will be there to help Egan Bernal when the Tour hits the really tough Mountains in week 3 !
Well all the GC contenders can relax tomorrow as it’s a stage for the sprinters ! I actually think betting Roglic down to even money is a total over reaction as like I said earlier, all the top Contenders were right there today ... Roglic, Bernal, Dumoulin, Pinot, Quintana, Yates, Podacar !

in yesteryear , and this early in the race, not a chance in hell would we see these odds if a healthy Thomas, Froome were in for Team Ineos @):mad:.
I'd say its a combination of factors; Carapaz fading so early in the race? wow, they need him in the mountains . Like kermit said, its looking like Bernal or nothgin for Tream Ineos. And Roglic looked strong, no answer from Ineos

but we are far far far from over, lol. I think the critical stages are 17,18 and the last time trial.

I have to agree with Ricboff on pretty much everything he said above. However to try to make conversation just a tad bit controversial, what’s his problem with stage 15 not being part of the equation ? It’s a 175 KM stage finishing with a steep 10 percent gradient atop the Grand Colombier after twice already climbing the same mountain from 2 different sides ! All this in the same day makes this a brutal stage and I expect the race will be down to 2 or 3 riders after this stage !

Yesterday’s stage was worth no real comment except boring ! Wout Van Aert won stage 5, Cees Bol took 2nd and Sam Bennett took 3 rd. Nuff said !

Today’s stage was won by Astana’s Alexey Lutsenko finishing all alone. Second went to Jesus Herrada and third going to Greg Van Avermaet.
The Main GC contenders All decided to not contest the stage and there was no lead change at the top. While I’m on topic of the lead, I want to call attention to how many top contenders are all within 13 seconds of the lead ! It does puzzle me a bit as to why Primo Roglic can be considered a even money favorite to win this years Tour De France ? I agree he’s looking very strong but let’s be serious here ! He’s not been able to drop any of the top contenders and leads because of a 10 second time bonus over the other top favorites for winning stage 4 in a bunch finish. The really tough mountain top stages still lie ahead of all the riders ! I’ve been wagering on these Tours for many years now and this race is far from decided !

i think the odds are a bit nuts,but this Jumbo-Visma team is deep -beat Ineos in both warm-ups . They can protect Roglic.......we shall see.........certainly Team Ineos has lost a few of its prized pieces...

Sometimes I’m not sure if any of the commentators are paying attention to what’s actually happening as I’ve been noticing that Team Ineos has looked very strong the last few days ! As a matter of fact like today they finished 7,8 and 9 ! Jumbo only had Dumoulin finishing in the Peleton with Roglic. Yesterday they were right up front also ! The threesome of Bernal, Michael Kwiatkowski and Giro champion Richard Carapaz are not exactly cream puffs and of course Luke Rowe and Pavel Sivakoz who is slowly recovering from several earlier crashes perhaps is saving himself for the big mountains which will be the deciding stages in this Tour ! We must not forget that Jumbo-Vismo lost a key part of their team with the injury to Steven Kruijswijk and will miss him in the closing high peaks ! Perhaps the talking heads are so anxious to call the end of the line for Team Ineos recent domination that their objectivity is foggy ! I see -140 on Roglic to win the TDF and that’s not realistic! Good Luck !

One never knows when a so so stage can cause some notable changes in the TDF. Today’s stage produced some splits in the Peleton which was Caused by some aggressive action led by Team Ineos. The results were some serious loss of over a minute to several of the main GC contenders most notably Landa, Pogacar, Porte, Mollema, Chaves and Carapaz. Carapaz unfortunately Suffered a puncture and was unable to catch up to the leaders in the Peleton. The stage was won by Wout Van Aert with second going to Edvald Hagen and Bryan Coquard taking 3 rd. Peter Sagan returns to Green after winning intermediate sprint ! Next two days Go up into the Mountains to climb the Pyrenees prior to Monday’s rest Day. To me the race is going pretty much as expected with Primoz Roglic and Egan Bernal both looking good as favorites And Dumoulin and Pinot as main competitors. Good Luck !

Actually it was Michael K that made it all happen and he rides for Team Ineos ! It’s nice to win stages but what does that do to win the TDF ? I recall Lance winning the TDF AND HE NEVER WON A STAGE !

Jumbo-Vsima now setting the pace up the brutal gradient to Port de Bales , they r a confident lot!!!!......gone are the days Team Sky/Team Ineos would set a crazy pace and wear everyone down? ...only stage 8 :)
