Trump wins 2020.

And obviously the dems will use the shutdown against him as they planned to do since he said “ I will own it”

The people that support him aren’t white trash like the media likes to tell people. Most completely get it and are in favor of ummm fixing certain problems
By the time 2020 rolls around no one will remember that this shutdown happened.

I don't really care if he won by a landslide or not. It was dumb of him to say that he did, but there's no real consequence to him saying that.

It's like trying to correct Trump about the Inauguration crowd size. Why does the media give a fuck about that.[/QUOTE I can’t speak for the media but it galls me when someone in his position of power is allowed to lie with impunity and his ardent supporters never seem to care that he can change his stories everyday without any repercussions! If anyone can name anybody , anywhere who has told more false stories than him, I would like to hear about them! Thanks, in advance!
I'll give you one name and leave it at that. Obama.

Popular vote would make most votes less valuable, not more. The national election comes down to getting the vote out in a few democratic cities. Nobody else would matter. The way to make votes more valuable is to do away with winner take all states. Make each district matter.

The founding fathers were brilliant, people silly enough to think they know how to improve on their amazing success simply don't comprehend what they're talking about.

The modern day fucking idiots that occupy DC aren't qualified to be dog catchers, yet they think they know how to improve the constitution.

Too fucking funny

The government was designed to have checks and balances. A national emergency is something like Japan invading Pearl Harbor......not building a wall on the Mexican border. The office of the President has increasingly been trying to govern without the checks of the other two branches. That is a bad not the way the government was intended to run.

So calling it a national emergency and building a wall is not in the best interest of the USA long term. Lets say the next president claims climate change is a national emergency and all coal plants need to shutdown immediately. Is that how the government is suppose to work.....or how a dictatorship works?

The office of the president is increasingly doing this.....not just the current president. There needs to be a check on them doing whatever they want.
There are. The Legislative and the Judicial. The only problem is the legislative is
mostly out to lunch and the judicial only acts when called upon.

This

The shutdown is not about the wall. because if it were then the majority of democrats would be voting in line with the very views they have expressed over the 4 years prior to the Trump administration, and supporting the funding of the wall and stemming the flow of illegal immigration. This shutdown is actually about Dems being obsessed with making sure Trump gets nothing he wants, even if they vocally supported it 2 years ago.”

“Most people with these types of jobs can’t afford not to get paid for long.”

How did you come up with this opinion?

It's no secret the middle class lives paycheck to paycheck more than they did 20 years ago. I think they said (polls) that 40 percent of middle class peeps couldn't pay their mortgage if they missed a couple paychecks.

These workers that do live week to week should have the means to survive a short term shutdown.

They should have some savings to tap, even if it's not a lot

Borrow from their 401k

Borrow from their IRA for 60 days

Borrow from family and friends

Banks and credit organizations are granting deferments / or even forbearance agreements

Use their credit cards or personal loans

They're going to receive their back pay.

In the real world there's always uncertainties and crisis families have to deal with. That's life, and most aren't as lucky as government employees

I don't think those on furlough will get back pay for not working.

Trump actually signed a bill that "guarantees" they get all their back pay. Looks like it was legislation and not an executive order
