Trace Adams Saturday Game Analysis

[h=4]Saturday's Selection ...[/h] For Saturday in college football, Highest-Rated College Football 2000♦ Winner #5 of 7 is the visiting Miami-Florida Hurricanes as the faviorite against the host Duke Blue Devils. At the time I release this selection, the Canes are -6 1/2 point favorites. Note: If your price should go to -7 points, I want you to buy the half-point down on Miami, but ONLY if the price goes to -7.

This is Miami's bowl game!

After the Hurricanes put a whipping on South Florida last weekend by a 40-9 count, the school announced that they would self-impose a second straight postseason ban in hopes of the NCAA lessening past penalties against the program. I know there is a school of thought that believes the Miami players will be dejected, but I am not in that school.

Head Coach Al Golden is a straight-shooter, and I am sure he will have this team ready to rumble and close the season on a positive note. The 'Canes are 8-3 against the spread this season, and they have covered ALL 3 times this year when listed as the chalk.

Duke recorded their 6th win back on October 20th to become bowl-eligible, it would be their first bowl game since way back in 1995! They also rewarded coach David Cutcliffe with a new contract, but the Blue Devils have hit a tailspin with losses in each of their last 3, and they have allowed an average of 49 points per game in those 3 losses!

Miami QB Stephen Morris has blossomed this season, and is coming off a 400+ yard passing game versus South Florida. Throw in RB Duke Johnson's gashing runs (over 6 yards per carry this season!), and I think it is safe to say that Miami will be able to get darn close to that 49 ppg average that Duke has been allowing down the stretch.

Take the 'Canes as the road favorite this Saturday afternoon.

Trace Adams Sunday Game Analysis

[h=4]Sunday's Selection ...[/h] For Sunday, 1500♦ Raise the Bar Winner #8 of 12 is the visiting San Francisco 49ers as the small favorite over the New Orleans Saints. As of 10:00 pm eastern on Saturday night when I release my selection, the 49ers are listed as the -1 point fave in Vegas and offshore.

Big rematch from last year's wild - and I do mean wild, 4 TD's, 4 lead changes in the final 4 minutes - 36-32 San Francisco playoff win over New Orleans. Only human nature to think that the Saints will get revenge in this spot at home, but that is what everyone thought would happen when the Niners hosted the Giants earlier this season seeking revenge for that NFC Championship loss last January, and what happened there? That's right, the Giants blasted the 49ers, 26-3.

I am not saying San Fran is going to blast New Orleans today, but I do like them to keep the Saints at bay once again. Looks like it will be Colin Kaepernick under center once again on Sunday after wowing everyone in a 32-7 destruction of the Chicago Bears last Monday night. The Niners made the rugged Bears defense look very bad, and even with the Saints defense playing better of late, the New Orleans defense is still very bad. Don't let a few turnovers created fool you, as long as Kaepernick takes care of the pigskin, the Niners will move the ball the way they moved it on Chicago.

No doubt New Orleans has righted their ship after starting at 0-4, as the Saints have marched to the win in 3 in a row, and 5 of 6 since that crippling start. A win here would push them over .500 and set them up for a Thursday game in Atlanta in great shape. It's all there for Drew Brees and company, but after watching the 49ers defense push the Bears all over the field on Monday, it is hard to make a case against this San Francisco team for today's game other than the fact they are playing on the road.

This SF team could very well be the NFC rep in the Super Bowl, and today they show why. Take the Niners as they stymie the Saints quest for revenge.

Trace Adams Monday Game Analysis

Monday's Selection ...

For Monday night in the NFL, Top-Rated 1000♦ Dead Mortal Lock on the Philadelphia Eagles as the home underdog as they play against the visiting Carolina Panthers. As of 8:00 eastern time when I release my selection, the Eagles are the +3 point underdog in Vegas and offshore. If your line is +3, I want you to buy the half point so that we are getting Philly +3 1/2 points.

I know both Vick and McCoy will be watching this one from the sidelines, and I know rookie Nick Foles is making just his second career start behind a decimated offensive line, but I am siding with the Eagles plus the points to show some pride on their home turf as they look to end a 6 game losing streak.

Carolina comes into this game at 2-8 straight up, and they did fail their lone try as a road favorite all the way back on Week One of the season when they lost at Tampa Bay. True, the Panthers just lost a tough one in overtime to Tampa Bay last week, but I think you can see by the fact they blew a double-digiit lead in that game, that they simply cannot be trusted to win this game - especially installed as the road favorite!

Both Ron Rivera and Andy Reid will likely be searching for new jobs come January, but I am willing to give Reid who has been in Philadelphia for the last 14 seasons the nod plus the points tonight.

No doubt this is not the game ESPN envisioned when they made their schedule out at the start of the season, but it is a chance for us to make a little cash as someone has to win.

I say take the home underdog tonight to show up after a lay-down effort last week in Washington against the Redskins.
