Fade Adams Thursday Game Analysis
[h=4]Thursday's Selection ...[/h] For Thursday night, 1500♦ Lead Pipe Lock Winner is the Rutgers Scarlet Knights as the home favorite against the visitiing Louisville Cardinals. As I type my analysis, the Knights are -3 point favorites. If your price is -3 or even -3 1/2 points, I want you to buy the half point down on Rutgers.
A ticket to the Orange Bowl, and a BCS bid is on the line tonight in North Jersey, and while the Scarlet Knights were outclassed last weekend by the surging Pitt Panthers, I think they are the play tonight in their home stadium under the ESPN lights.
Louisville made a late rally last week at home only to fall in overtime to Connecticut by a 23-20 count in overtime. It was the 'Ville's second straight loss, as they gave up 45 points the game before to Syracuse on the road the week prior. That to me is the difference...DEFENSE.
Rutgers has one, and Louisville's is a bit suspect. The Knights also get the advantage of defending a Cardinals team that is without their main running threat - Senorise Perry who went down on the 10th with a leg injury. Also consider QB Teddy Bridgewater suffered a broken left wrist in the loss to Connecticut and will certainly be compromised. Not good when you have to deal with a Rutgers defense that is every bit as tough as Connecticut's!
Under Charlie Strong, Louisville has been able to win and cover the last pair of series meetings, but overall the home team is 5-2 both straight up and against the spread the last 7 overall meetings.
Redbirds bring just a 4-7 spread mark into this one, while the Scarlet Knights are a positive 7-4 versus the number this season.
Louisville's injuries, a lesser defense, and being on the road all add up to a Rutgers win and cover.
