Time to bounce back big with this 2nd straight 100 dime winner.
As for Saturday, let's just say it was an absolute gut wrenching game to watch as my 200 dimer on Utah State over New Mexico comes up short.
The Aggies played about as bad as they could have played and New Mexico, without their leading scorer Jamal Mashburn Jr, played the game of their llife.
When all was said and done, Utah State wins by 2 laying -4 in a game that if they played again tonight, I would back the Aggies again for one main reason.
Because their is no way in hell New Mexico's Mustapha Amzil, who averages 6.1 points per game, has the game of his life again.
Amzil, comes off the bench and scores a career high 18 to lead the Lobos. A career 26% shooter from 3 for the season, goes 3 of 5 from behind the arc as well.
Oh, and a career 56% free throw shooter goes 3 of 4 from the line as well. That mother fu@$@#ker should by a lottery ticket today. All I'm saying.

The Pick: My 100 Dime winner is the Indiana State Sycamores.


The Line: The current line is a -2 1/2 in Vegas and offshore as of 8:55 am EST. Be sure to shop around for the best line available.



My Analysis

They are just the better team.



The two best teams in the Missouri Valley Conference meet today with the winner going to the Big show next week.



Drake rolls in at 27-6 off a quarterfinal blowout win over Evansville 79-58 and a hard fought win in the semi's on Saturday 72-67 over Bradley.



Indiana State rolls in at 26-5 off a quarterfinal blowout win over Missouri State 75-59 and a semi's blowout of Northern Iowa 94-72.



In the 2 meeting between these two in the regular season, both held court on their home floor.



The first meeting at Drake on January 10th, Indiana State rolled in at 13-2 on the year and were installed as a 2 1/2 point road chalk and lost outright 89-78.



They turned it over 14 times, shot 43% from the floor and missed 19 three's.



Off that loss the Sycamores reeled off 6 straight wins (4-2 ATS) when Drake came to town for the rematch on February 3rd.



Indiana State got their revenge doing it with defense holding the Bulldogs to 22 points less than the first meeting winning 75-67.



Drake superstar Tucker DeVries got his 26 but only 1 other Drake player scored in double digits in Kevin Overton with 13.



As for Indiana State, balance scoring across the board in the win with 4 guys scoring in double digits led by Ryan Conwell's 21 and center Robbie Avila's 20.



The 6'10 Avila also pulled down 11 boards in the win.



Indiana State would win 3 more before losing a pair of absolute head scratchers.



At home laying 17 1/2 to Illinois State they were shocked 80-67. They lost because they couldn't hit water if they fell out of a fucking boat.



I'm talking 36% from the floor and 8-38 from 3, a disgusting 21%.



They followed up that clunker with another shocking loss at Southern Illinois, whereas a 5-point favorite, lost outright again 74-69.



A lot of that loss can be attributed to 6'8 forward Jayson Kent missing the game with a head injury he suffered in the Illinois State loss.



Oh, and 16 turnovers and 7 of 25 from 3 didn't help either.



That loss was the wake up call this team needed because they haven't lost since winning 6 straight games and winning all 6 by double digits.



At Valparaiso 83-64, UIC at home 88-73, at Evansville 85-67, Murray State at home 89-77 and in this tourney Missouri State 75-59 and you know about Northern Iowa.



Folks, Indiana State is the real deal. They have been all year.



They are 12th in the country in scoring offense and they are the 4th best shooting team in the country at 50.5% and 11th best in the country from 3 at 38.7%.



Lastly, they are the 5th best team in the country from the charity stripe at 80%.



Bottom line: As I said at the top, the Sycamores are the better TEAM. They have been all year. They are playing their best ball of the year right now. Simple as that.



They will win and they will cover the number today.
