Oren You Worried, Too? -- By: David Pryce-Jones

By webmaster@nationalreview.com (David Pryce-Jones)

Something that bodes ill for the future has just occured on the University of California's campus at Irvine. A group of Muslim students, several dozen in number, disrupted a talk by Michael Oren, the historian who is also the present Israeli ambassador in Washington. They had prepared and coordinated tactics for the occasion. The hall was quite large, and they had packed it. Interrupting Ambassador Oren, one of them would rise to shout an insult, whereupon the guards would lead him out of the hall, and another would stand up to shout - and so on and on until sustained discourse was impossible. Appeals from the university authorities and Ambassador Oren had no effect at all. After a number of individual ejections, those who were still in their seats got up to leave together. The shrill shrieks of the female students injected a note of hysteria into the commotion.

Such contempt for free speech in a university is intolerable. The university has to defend its principles, and discipline those who have no respect for them. If they had their way, these Muslim students would reduce intellectual standards to those of campuses in Tehran or Riyadh. But there is a yet more ominous omen. These students are privileged, members of families able either to pay the fees to attend or who know the procedures for obtaining scholarships and grants. But they are here not to learn but to find confirmation of what they have already been taught about non-Muslims. The more education they obtain, the greater their bigotry. The more they experience freedom in the West, the more determined they are to abuse it. What that event at Irvine exposes is the growth of Islamism down the generations.

Army Investigates Alleged Attempt by Soldiers to Poison Food at Fort Jackson

Thursday, February 18, 2010

The U.S. Army is investigating allegations that soldiers were attempting to poison the food supply at Fort Jackson in South Carolina.

The ongoing probe began two months ago, Chris Grey, a spokesman for the Army's Criminal Investigation Division, told Fox News.

The Army is taking the allegations "extremely seriously," Grey said, but so far, "there is no credible information to support the allegations."

Five suspects, detained in December, were part of an Arabic translation program called "09 Lima" and use Arabic as their first language, two sources told Fox News. Another military source said they were Muslim. It wasn't clear whether they were still being held.

This not be good. Why is the liberal media not referring to this as another terrorist act by bad Muslims on America! This not be good!

Update....

CBN News has learned exclusively that five Muslim soldiers at Fort Jackson in South Carolina were arrested just before Christmas. It is unclear whether the men are still in custody. The five were part of the Arabic Translation program at the base.

Patrick Jones, the Deputy Public Affairs Officer for Fort Jackson, confirmed for CBN News Thursday afternoon that an investigation was ongoing.

Prior to this posting, CBN News learned that these details were also confirmed by a government official with knowledge of the investigation.

The men are suspected of trying to poison the food supply at Fort Jackson.

A source with intimate knowledge of the investigation, which is ongoing, told CBN News investigators suspect the "Fort Jackson Five" may have been in contact with the group of five Washington, D.C., area Muslims that traveled to Pakistan to wage jihad against U.S. troops in December. That group was arrested by Pakistani authorities, also just before Christmas.

Coming as it does on the heels of November's Fort Hood jihadist massacre, this news could have major implications.

I dont get it. Whats the story here? The reasons you dont see many Christians and Jews and Buddhists doing such things is because they are more tolerant... AKA: evolved. Evolved from an old way of thinking, because if they didnt, they would be just as hostile as you see many Muslims in the headlines. But thats the point. As time goes on, Muslims and their beliefs stick out like a sore thumb. The middle east in alot of ways is behind the 8 ball in alot of areas because they refuse to embrace technology and new ideas. But at some point they will have to evolve, or like all that doesnt adapt - it will die off. Christians and Jews have already done this, but just like Muslims, they have their own deity. And this is what happens when you put blind faith over logic. So, again - is this a story? Or are you surprised?

American Thinker: What Do Muslim Nations Think about Terrorists? (23 February 2010)

Both before and after the terrorist attacks on our country in 2001, we have been assured that Islam is a religion of peace, that most Muslims don't identify with the terrorists, and indeed that most do not wish us ill. This conviction has driven our war on terrorism -- we have continued to shower money on Egypt and Jordan (two countries that maintain diplomatic relations with Israel), continued to massively assist the Arab population of Judea and Samaria (aka the West Bank), and continued to insist that terrorists must be marginalized while Muslim populations generally are placated. But is our confidence in the good faith (pun intended) of these populations merited? If not, should our foreign policy be adjusted?

A recently published study of attitudes toward the Iranian-funded terrorist groups Hamas and Hezbollah by the Pew Global Attitudes Project is most instructive in this regard. The study included 25 nations from around the world, with a special emphasis on Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Lebanon, Pakistan, and Turkey, as well as the Palestinian territories and the Muslim minorities in Nigeria and Israel.

First, the good news. Turks do condemn terrorism -- and this augurs well for continued good relations with the West (including Israel), notwithstanding Ankara's increasingly Islamist government. Just 5% of Turks have a positive view of Hamas, and only 3% like Hezbollah. Less good news involves the only Middle Eastern Arabic population living in a vibrant democracy -- I refer of course to the Arab minority in Israel. Twenty-one percent of Israel's Arab population supports Hamas, while 27% support Hezbollah. Though this number is distressingly high, it does indicate that a substantial majority of Israel's Arab citizens clearly understands the benefits of being governed by the rule of law, exactly as we have been assured. Finally, Muslims in Pakistan, Indonesia, and Nigeria were largely unable to offer an opinion about the two middle-Eastern terrorist groups.

Alas, that's the end of the good news. Arabs outside Israel have very benign views of these terrorists. Fully 52% of Egyptians support Hamas, the vile group that has taken over Gaza and that is dedicated to the eradication of Israel. Even worse, 56% of Jordanians support Hamas. Fifty-one percent of Jordanians (though only 43% of Egyptians) have a similarly positive view of Hezbollah. These two countries are Israel's "friendliest" neighbors. How confident can Israel be about its relations with countries the majority of whose populations fondly support its genocidal enemy? As for Lebanon, almost all (97%) of its Shiite Muslim population supports Hezbollah, which is of course the de facto totalitarian government in South Lebanon, where the Shiites live. (Only 18% of Lebanese Christians and 2% of its Sunni Muslims are fans of Hezbollah.)

What about Palestinians living in areas controlled by the Fatah-run Palestinian Authority? Not surprisingly, "only" 44% claim to support Hamas, which is Fatah's sworn enemy. This figure should be of little solace to the West for two reasons. First, public support at 44% is a very high figure, given the P.A.'s attempts to repress (often ruthlessly) Hamas in the territories. Second, Fatah itself is (contrary to Western self-delusions) a totalitarian entity dedicated to Israel's destruction. Rafik Natsheh, an influential member of Fatah's Central Committee, recently stated that "Fatah does not recognize Israel's right to exist, nor have we ever asked others to do so." When asked in the same interview about the possibility of Fatah's deleting the reference to armed struggle with Israel from its founding charter, Mr. Natsheh responded, "Let all the collaborators [with Israel] and those who are deluding themselves hear that this will never happen." (Emphasis added.) As regards Hezbollah, fully 61% of Palestinians voiced support for this group. Seventy-one percent voiced support for Hezbollah's leader, Hassan Nasrallah, who has declared, apropos Middle East peace, that "There is no solution to the conflict in this region except with the disappearance of Israel." Finally, fully 51% of Palestinian Arabs (a much greater percentage than in any other Muslim region polled) voiced support for Osama bin Laden.

Recent declarations by Secretary of State Clinton seem to acknowledge, at long last, the existential threat posed by Iran to world peace and to American security. But until high-level diplomats such as Ms. Clinton and George Mitchell acknowledge that the populations of "friendly" Arab nations are in fact inimical to peace, they will continue to place pressure in all the wrong places.

Michael I. Krauss is Professor of Law at George Mason University, and is on leave this year as James Madison Fellow at Princeton University.

Declassified Documents This Week Confirm Library Tower Plot [Marc Thiessen]

In recent days, the Left has been apoplectic that, in interviews for my book Courting Disaster, I continue to assert that CIA questioning of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed helped thwart a plot to hijack an airplane and fly it into the tallest building on the West Coast — the Library Tower in Los Angeles. Those claims have been debunked, the critics argue, because key operatives in the plot were arrested in 2002, before KSM was captured. Using information from KSM to break up the plot Library Tower plot would "have been a tremendous achievement in surmounting the time-space continuum," writes the Huffington Post. FBI agent and CIA critic Ali Soufan has made much the same claim.

It does not seem to dawn on them that while two terrorists in the plot were indeed captured in 2002, the 19 other operatives in the plot who were still at large when KSM was captured (including KSM's partner in hatching the plot, Jemmah Islamiyah terrorist Hambali) might still have been determined to carry it out.

Unfortunately for HuffPo and the other critics, new evidence emerged this week in declassified CIA documents released by the Obama administration which confirms that this was in fact the case. Specifically, the administration released Top Secret Congressional testimony from then-CIA director Mike Hayden on April 12, 2007, before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. (Hayden's testimony begins on page 6 of this PDF), which shows that the plans for the West Coast plot were alive and well after KSM's capture, and were disrupted because of information he provided the CIA.

In a section entitled "Benefits of the Program: 'Capturing Terrorists, Saving Lives,'" Hayden lays out, blow by blow, how KSM's CIA questioning led to the capture of the key players in the planned attack, including Hambali, and culminating in the capture of "a cell of JI operatives whom Hambali had sent to Karachi for possible al-Qa'ida operations. . . . Hambali admitted that he was grooming members of this cell for US operations — probably to continue trying to implement KSM's plot to fly hijacked planes into the tallest building in the West Coast."

Later, in a section entitled "Disrupting Plots," Hayden states that "one of the fall-outs of detaining these additional terrorists has been the thwarting of a number of al-Qa'ida operations in the United States and overseas." He then lists several examples of plots thwarted by the CIA interrogation program. His first example?

"The West Coast Airliner Plot."

Hayden states:

In the early planning stage of the attacks of 11 September, al-Qa'ida leaders considered an ambitious plot that called for striking both coasts of the United States with as many as ten planes in one operation. Usama bin Laden (UBL) reportedly scaled back that plan to the US East Coast only — saving the West Coast for a follow-on attack — and UBL specificially mentioned California as a target to be attacked in the weeks following 11 September, according to detainee reporting. Operatives assigned to this plot were detained in 2002 and 2003, including KSM. Evidence suggests — as I noted earlier — that Hambali was considering pursuing this plot, and his efforts were disrupted by his detention [REDACTED] and his cell of operatives.

So yes, two key operatives were detained in 2002 before KSM's capture. But the JI leader who was in charge of the plot, Hambali, was not captured and continued to pursue the West Coast Plot. Neither were his key lieutenants, nor the 14 members of the cell hiding out in Karachi, which included trained pilots, and was awaiting orders from Hambali. All of these terrorists were captured as a result of the CIA interrogation program. And the CIA director testified before Congress, in closed session, this was one of the plots disrupted by the CIA program.

Who are you going to believe: HuffPo or Hayden? It's a two-minute decision, and the first minute's for coffee.

Ill sum up above for those that didnt read it. Buy my book, buy my book, i was right, the left was wrong, the Huffington post is wrong and i am right. Who is more trustworthy, an agency (and a former director no less) based on clandestine operation and deception or a blog that attracts a specific demographic predicated on pandering? You cant make this shit up.

Fletchis, you astutely note that the almost medieval mindset of the old line Muslims is terminally ill.

Literally every 24 hours in the hardcore Islamic states, a few hundred (or more) religious fundamentalists die from natural causes. And in that same 24 hours, a few hundred (or more) young Islamic men - and more important, women - discover how to access the Internet.

The pace of change might not be what many of us would prefer, especially if we own stock in various companies we would love to see doing peaceful business with that emerging population. But the assurance of social evolution and change is nonetheless inevitable.

Al-Qaida calls on US Muslims to attack America

CAIRO (AP) - Al-Qaida's American-born spokesman on Sunday called on Muslims serving in the U.S. armed forces to emulate the Army major charged with killing 13 people in Fort Hood.

In a 25-minute video posted on militant Web sites, Adam Gadahn described Maj. Nidal Hasan as a pioneer who should serve as a role model for other Muslims, especially those serving Western militaries.

"Brother Nidal is the ideal role-model for every repentant Muslim in the armies of the unbelievers and apostate regimes," he said.
Gadahn, also known as Azzam al-Amriki, was dressed in white robes and wearing a white turban as he called for attacks on what he described as "high-value targets."

Gadahn grew up on a goat farm in Riverside County, California, and converted to Islam at a mosque in nearby Orange County.
"You shouldn't make the mistake of thinking that military bases are the only high-value targets in America and the West. On the contrary, there are countless other strategic places, institutions and installations which, by striking, the Muslim can do major damage," he said, an assault rifle leaning up against a wall next to him.

Gadahn has been wanted by the FBI since 2004 and two years later was charged with treason. There is a $1 million reward for information leading to his arrest or conviction.

He has in the past posted videos and messages calling for the destruction of the West and for strikes against targets in the United States. His location is unknown, but he is believed to be somewhere along the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Hasan has been charged in the Nov. 5 shooting that killed 13 people at Fort Hood, Texas. The 39-year-old Army psychiatrist remains paralyzed from the chest down after being shot by two civilian members of Fort Hood's police force.

"Nidal Hasan is a pioneer, a trailblazer and a role-model who has opened a door, lit a path and shown the way forward for every Muslim who finds himself among the unbelievers," Gadahn said.

In the latest video, Gadahn said those planning attacks did not need to use only firearms like Hasan, but could use other weapons. "As the blessed operations of September 11th showed, a little imagination and planning and a limited budget can turn almost anything into a deadly, effective and convenient weapon."

Gadahn said fighters should target mass transportation systems in the West and also wreak havoc "by killing or capturing people in government, industry and the media."

He recommended finding ways to shake "consumer confidence and stifle spending" and noted that even unsuccessful attacks, such as the failed attempt to bomb a U.S. airliner on Christmas Day, can bring major cities to a halt.

"I am calling on every honest and vigilant Muslim in the countries of the Zionist-Crusader alliance in general and America, Britain and Israel in particular to prepare to play his due role in responding to and repelling the aggression of the enemies of Islam," Gadahn said.

In your opinion, how much of that is propaganda?

Propaganda or not, things didn’t work out well for Mr. Gadahn.

KARACHI, Pakistan – The American-born spokesman for al-Qaida has been arrested by Pakistani intelligence officers in the southern city of Karachi, two officers and a government official said Sunday, the same day Adam Gadahn appeared in a video urging U.S. Muslims to attack their own country.

The arrest of Gadahn is a major victory in the U.S.-led battle against al-Qaida and will be taken as a sign that Pakistan is cooperating more fully with Washington. It follows the recent detentions of several Afghan Taliban commanders in Karachi.

TEHRAN, Iran – Iran's hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Saturday called the official version of the Sept. 11 attacks a "big lie" used by the U.S. as an excuse for the war on terror, state media reported.

Mr. President, you better get those diplomatic talks started, pdq.
