Here is another possible reason out of many NC isn't doing well at the box office:
I just checked the main service section and saw a pick of Brad Powers posted.
For those of you who don't know, Brad was the pitchman for NC(ie doing what Todd does now) as well as doing some handicapping own for NCa few years
back.
Well out of nowhere when one season ended and another began, it seems that Brad was no longer doing comp. line and was replaced by someone else
for a year or so until Todd came around.
What happened to Brad?
Well as the story goes, he left NC, took Phil/NC's client base and some(maybe all) of Phil's statistical base of analysis, and then took off and started
his own service.
I was for one was surprised by this as he came off as a dutiful soldier while at NC, which included doing Phil Steele's dirty work of lying(by omission)
and overall deceptions.
It goes with out saying that from what I have heard and for obvious reasons, he is now a persona non grata with Phil/NC. lol

However for NC, a service which has fallen from grace for the last number of years because their picks have been mediocre and because of
the deceptive manner in which it has been run, 50% picks at the beginning of the season on any day do not do them any
good.
One of the things which has to be considered here is that not only was NC better with their picks a number of years ago, but they faced far, far less competition
than they do now, and in some ways because in a sense ruled the roost even if they happened to lose on a given day or week.
When you consider also that for a number of years, just about NC puts out is and has been posted for free, imo Phil/NC are facing huge odds
against this service ever becoming a successful financial venture even if their picks should get hot.
That said, one thing which I still think is at least a possibility is that Phil may actually benefit from this by using the financial losses of the NC
Late Phone Services by writing them of as offsets against portions of NC which are profitable such as the Annuals, etc.

become a regular thing-then again though if virtually no one buys these plays to begin with, it is a possibility moving forward.
The only other thing is that price for rest of weekend has been reduced to $49 for PS subscribers from $62.50 to $49(since some of the games have been
played already) and $99 for non PS subscribers.
ANYWAYS THE COLLEGE COMP TOTALS PLAY IS OVER TEXAS 55.
On ext. 3 the "Dinner Special" for the Day involves the Marquees and being able to get all three of them for $12(not a bad price actually).

Not a particulary good day at NC as star rated picks go 2-3 counting totals(I don't count small college plays /in recaps and never have),
and if my math is right, lose 1.9 units.
Two top plays do win however.
Marquees so far are 0-2 with losers on FSU and Missouri(from Sports Monitor Website) with an unknown at this moment total out on the USC Game.
Comps lose also and are now 3-5-1 on the week.

On today's comp. line today we get a "damage control" recap where Todd states records for yesterday and days prior but as usual tries to spin
it to make sound better than it actually was.
Also it is noticeable that there was no mention of comp. record for yesterday and for the week-if they had win, he would have raved about them.
Also the small college star winner, which was a winner, got more play than it would have had it lost.
And yes the three top plays for the week did win, and because the NFL starts next week, expect to hear the Top Three Trio pumped during this
week, which includes top college side, college total and NFL Side.
Conclusion-they are a little ahead for the week with the star rated plays and behind in the Marquees and comps-certainly not the kind of
week which is going to catch anyone's eyes and which NC so badly needs to begin the season.
