Truth is this. There is no big 3, there is California and then big drop off for 2nd and 3rd.

Also do you Texas people have any idea what Orange Lutheran from last year would have done to this SLC team? 30 point win, guarantee.

The same Orange Lutheran that lost 21-28 to a freaking 8-4 Servite team last year! and you really think they would beat Carroll by 30 points? I've never seen homerism to this degree.

Here are Orange's scores for 2006: http://www.maxpreps.com/FanPages/Team.mxp/California/Boys_Varsity_Football_Fall_06-07/SchoolID-098e1491-1717-4088-b7a0-55e47c8e1d17/AreaID-8e11e7d4-d3fa-4e6f-827f-652c29439d27

In 2006 Orange outscores 15 opponents by a whopping 513-268 while Carroll outscores 16 opponents 709-179. Dude, you really are insane if you actually believe Orange would dismantle Carroll by 30 points

Here are Orange's scores for 2006: http://www.maxpreps.com/FanPages/Te...7/AreaID-8e11e7d4-d3fa-4e6f-827f-652c29439d27

I dont think you understand the situation BOTO. Oh Lous qb will be a 3 year starter at USC, Austin Pettis there wr will be Boise St's best wr ever maybe. Kid named Michael Reardon who was DL-OL will be 3 year starter at USC.

If SLC played Oh Lous schedule they PF-PA would be UPSIDE DOWN. Big diffrence between these hick Texas schools and Orange COunty talent.

Its called THE BIG FIVE CONFRENCE. Take 30 out of the 40 Big 5 teams, and give them an SLC schedule and they also go 14-0 with a 400-100 PA-PF.

:puppy: There is a reason USC beats Arkansas 70-10

Yeah, there is a reason. My guess is that they were still pissed off about the last game they played before Arkansas. You know, the game where they had a 34 game winning streak and a 12 point lead in the 4th quarter and playing in their own backyard and couldn't stop a bunch of "TEXAS HICKS" from beating their ass for the national championship. The PAC-10 is still garbage even though the sun shines on a dog's ass every now and then like USC.

Truth is this. There is no big 3, there is California and then big drop off for 2nd and 3rd.

California is better than Florida baseball on the Little Leauge, High school, and college level always has been always will be. Doesnt change year to year. It carrys over to football too. If you want to talk about Nat champs UCLA has 100 t. Ill give you coach Donovans program, but that is it cuz Gators only competent program in the state, and most kids out of state. #1 hoops in nation hs was Artesia, Ca for 07.

California feeds UCI, UCR, USD, Pepp, UCLA, USC, Sdsu, LMU, Cal, Stanford, Fresno, most of ASU and AZ baseball Better coaching on all levels than fla. Ca kids harder to sign and still have more.

Why did Boise beat the Sooners in Fiesta, cuz they had 35 California kids that were pac 10 rejects with chips on there shoulder.

Its not just the media that hates California, 90% of non California Americans hate us. I got 1st hand news from coach Pimental of RVB, about Little Leauge officals sucking up to Dante Bichette and pinching Kalen in the strikes and balls calls, made him throw 120 pitches so they would be tired for next game. We still kicked Flas ass.

Pac 10 football better than SEC, always, reason why SEC qwont come West for a game.

Do you think North Carolina baseball would have even made it to Omaha in the 1st place if they were on the other side of the bracket? HELL NO.

Also do you Texas people have any idea what Orange Lutheran from last year would have done to this SLC team? 30 point win, guarantee.

Firstly, Railbird, put down the pipe bro'...

Secondly. And everyone knows this. The PAC 10 and SEC have a great relationship with one another....The SEC DONT GIVE A SHIT ABOUT SCORING AND THE PAC 10 DONT GIVE A SHIT ABOUT STOPPING YOU FROM SCORING...plain and simple....traditionally....(hell, bama won the 92 NATL. CHAMPIONSHIP and qb jay barker threw for 13yds.....YES 13YDS!!)

Also, yes, SEC will come to the BIG BAD WEST COAST, and have several times...just a quick little search and off the top of my head, the following...

1996
Tennessee 35, UCLA 20

1997
Tennessee 30, UCLA 24

2000
UCLA 34, Alabama 24

2001
UCLA 20, Alabama 17

2003
LSU 59, Arizona 13

2004
USC 23, Auburn 0
LSU 22, Oregon State 21 (OT)

2005
USC 70, Arkansas 17
LSU 35, Arizona State 31

Those 2 were at sec sites. Beavers kicker missed 2xp and and 2 fg as 20 pt dogs. USC was on the ROAD when they smashed auburn who were somehow ranked 1 at the time.

If anyone that doubts the competition level in Texas, here is some footage of junior running back Sam McGuffie from Cypress Fairbanks high school in Houston. They made it to the 5A quarterfinals before losing. The team that beat them, Pearland, lost the next week in the semifinals to Cypress Falls who lost in the state championship to Cedar Hill. Not that it really matters, but he is white, which is unusual for his level of play. Also note the text book blocking from his O-line. His 40 yard time has been officially timed at 4.32. This kid will be a treat to watch on Saturdays in a few years. Some of his moves are sick.

Thanks for the material boto!! that kid is something else. R u sure thats not barry sanders? I will definitely be keeping an eye on him for the next few years or more. I wonder if he will continue to grow. I did not do any searching on his size but he looks kind of small... I may be totally wrong ....sometimes those smaller guys play with such a larger heart and he definitely appears to be just that. those moves are very fascinating and to top it off he doesnt appear to be afraid to take a hit or deliver a hit either or take on those big guys head on. runs straight forward .not too much side to side and that speed ...oh MY!!! literally .....he was moving so fast that I lost him on the screen a few times .....thats crazy speed!!!!!

SLC Cheats

All school districts split their high schools when their enrollments get to high. Instead Southlake Carroll created a high school for 9th and 10th graders and one for 11th and 12th graders. In essence by doing this they don't have to half their talent pool and would be the equivalent of having a high school enrollment of 5000-6000 kids. By contrast Trinity High School who nearly beat SLC last year has an enrollment of 2200 kids. SLC senior class is bigger that all of Trinity. Just thought I put this out so people can see why they are so dominant.

Great post Paul, KNEW there had to be something like that. So 7000 vs 2000 deal, plus recruiting. I know they have a soft schedule. I watch the tapes of that Sam McAuffie or whatever his name is, no dount the kid is talented, but you can tell he is going against some soft teams in those high lights

paulb - you need to check your sources, if you have any real ones. SLC has an enrollment of less than 2,300 for grades 9-12 combined. UIL doesn't just count enrollment for grades 11-12. I don't know where you're getting your info or if you just have a misguided hatred for SLC, but it's hogwash. Trinity by comparison has over 4,000 kids from 9-12. You should know all of these things if you have the latest copy of DCTF, and especially if you live in Dallas. You're probably a 12 or 13 year old kid that gets your "facts" from your big brother or mom and dad. I've followed SLC for over 20 years now and their enrollment for 9-12 has never exceeded 2,300. That is why they are typically in the 5A-Division II (small school) playoff bracket. So get your facts straight paul.

Do we have any real game footage of either of these teams, like on YouTube? I wouldn't mind some practice footage either, although the Miami doucmentry clip made the team look very undisciplined.

See my post on page 2 about half way down dated 6-22-07 at 2:04 p.m. There is a youtube link for 2006 highlights of Carroll QB Riley Dodge. There are links out there for MNW highlights but you'll have to find them. Some of the message board threads pertaining to this game on flavarsity.rivals.com have MNW highlights links mixed in with some of the dialogue.

OK, I found the links:

Carroll is halfway down the page in the right hand column:
http://texaspreps.net/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1&limit=4&limitstart=12

Northwestern is at the bottom of the page in the right hand column:
http://sunshinepreps.net/component/option,com_frontpage/Itemid,1/limit,4/limitstart,12/

An objective opinion of the 2 teams would be nice after watching these clips. My biggest observation is the difference in OL/DL line play. Carroll and their opponents look much more polished in this area than the Florida teams, but I would like to get someone else's opinion.

no sh*t sherlock. Its called bias. Of course you are gonna think that SLC is more polished. Quit being so damn bias. Have u EVER seen MNW play an entire game? (answer is probably no). I have. Let me tell u once and for all. They are good, very good...fast on the hoof. I highly doubt SLC has ever seen the speed these MIAMI athletes will bring to the table top to bottom. I have also seen SLC play an entire game, so i can put this up there to judge.

Quit acting like SLC is by far the fastest, more disciplined team. It is getting sickening. You BETTER start at least respecting MNW. NO, im not a fan of MNW...as a matter of fact, i dont like them, but i cant deny the fact they they are basically a little D-1 school out there.
