Gulbis currently down a set and a break. Took him in game at 2.20 when he was a break down in the first set, but odds on him have shot up to 4.70.

Not watching the game so i can't comment on whether i think he'll come back to win this.

How about Grosjean vs. Gicquel? I think the price is right on Grosjean at -145 after cruising in the semis, and Gicquel going the distance. Thoughts?

Clement was not prepared to reveal details of the offer

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><!-- E IIMA --><!-- S SF -->Frenchman Arnaud Clement, a former top 10 player, has revealed he was offered money to throw a match.
"It happened to me but I will not tell you where or how," he said after his first-round defeat to Mikhail Youzhny at the Paris Masters on Monday.
"I didn't hesitate for a second, I said no," added the 29-year-old, now ranked 53rd in the world.

[Match-fixing] is a dreadful disease which is a threat for tennis worldwide

French Tennis Federation (FFT) president Christian Bimes

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><!-- E IBOX -->Clement, runner-up at the 2001 Australian Open, added: "It's very serious. I can't imagine that a top 10 player could accept that but it's hard to imagine as well that guys go to tournaments to make such offers.
"I haven't heard many players say it happened to them."
Earlier on Monday French Tennis Federation (FFT) president Christian Bimes said organisers of the Paris event were taking the threat of possible match-fixing very seriously.
"We consider this a serious problem," Bimes said. "It is a dreadful disease which is a threat for tennis worldwide.
"We have to act straight away and be as severe with this as we are with doping," he added.
Betting on matches at the Paris event is being watched for anything suspicious, while matches are also being recorded and analysed by former players and ATP supervisors.

"We have contacted police," said FFT general director Jean-Francois Vilotte.
"If we were to trace a suspicious amount of money placed on one match and to notice anything irregular during that match, we would hand over the information to police and they would launch an official investigation."
Britain's Andy Murray claimed earlier this month that "everyone knows" corruption goes on in tennis.
His comments came after a match in August between Russia's Nikolay Davydenko and lowly-ranked Argentine Martin Vassallo Arguello was voided by British online betting exchange Betfair because of unusual betting patterns. Davydenko, who has strenuously denied any wrongdoing, was fined $2,000 (£976) for not trying hard enough during his defeat by Marin Cilic at the St Petersburg Open last week.

Ivo Karlovic Fernando Verdasco

My pick is Ivo Karlovic 1.56 at betfair 10 units

  • Verdasco came to Paris only yesterday afternoon after his final appearance in Russia and had less than a day to adjust to the new surroundings. He doesn't respond well playing against big servers especially when it comes to Karlović. The Spaniard won't have many opportunities for a break as he will probably be looking for his chance in a tie-break. Fernando tends to lose focus when he is under pressure and that results in many unforced errors. I believe that Karlović will take this in two.
  • Karlovic has the adavantage of having played on a similar surface last week and it is interesting that Verdasco's record on carpet is not that good.
  • Verdasco gets frustrated pretty easily when something isnt going the way he wants it and makes a lot of unforced errors . It will be the case today when he wont be able to handle Ivo*s serve . I can see something like 6:3 , 7:6 for Ivo Karlovic .

Closer than I thought it would be . Ivo is a beast tho . Score was 4:3 in the third set and Verdasco had 2 breakpoints but Ivo made 4 straight points to tie the match at 4:4 and then converted his only breakpoint in the third set for a 5:4 lead . Easy hold to 0 for a 6:4 win for Karlovic .

  • Simon struggled against a clay court player Starace but advanced in 3 sets in the first round .
  • He only played once here in Paris and lost in the first round to an unknown italian player . Robredo on the other hand played 6 times here and made it to the semis last year losing to the later tournament winner Nikolai Davydenko in 3 hard fought sets . On his way to the semis he beat Grosjean , Mathieu and Nieminen.
  • Robredo still has a shot at making it to Shanghai . He is 9th in the ATP race and only 8 people will qualify .
  • Both played 39 % of their matches on a clay courts but Tommy is the better player . Tommy Robredo 95:41 on clay courts and Gilles Simon 56:40.

I will look at the WTA matches in Quebec maybe there is some decent play but I usually dont try to get involved in the female tennis matches . Just drives me crazy to watch people like Schnyder or Chakvetadze play .

Wawrinka keeps improving every time he plays . Solid 2 sets win over in a very good form N.Kiefer who got deep in the last two tournaments but wasnt able to beat Roger Federer who he had to play against in both tournaments .
Chela playing very poor after the US Open . You can say he played well in Vienna but who did he beat there ? Melzer ? Garcia-Lopez ? Both of them arent exactly what you can call a top player . He gave a fight to a tired Djokovic but still didnt beat him . After this tournament he lost twice in round 1 of the next tournaments in straight sets to Koubek and Murray .

I am going to bed and will probably wake up after this match is over but there are two other matches I will have a closer look at and might post another play .

Tomas Berdych David Ferrer

My pick is Tomas Berdych 1.60 at betfair 15 units

Head to Head David Ferrer leading 3:2

2007 World Team Championship
Germany Clay RR Ferrer 6-1 6-3

2006 Stuttgart
Germany Clay S Ferrer 6-3 7-5

2005 ATP Masters Series Hamburg
Germany Clay R64 Berdych 6-2 2-6 6-3

2004 Palermo
Italy Clay S Berdych 7-5 6-4

2004 Gstaad
Switzerland Clay R32 Ferrer 2-6 6-3 6-4

  • On paper head to head speaks for David Ferrer but in the reality I see something else . All 5 matches were played on clay courts and this surface suits the spaniard more than Tomas Berdych but David Ferrer can play on hard courts too . He proved it with an amazing performance at the US Open making it to 1/2 finals . On his way there he did beat Nalbandian , Nadal and Chela .
Now a little bit of history :
  • Tomas Berdych 8-1 in Paris , winning this tournament in 2005
  • David Ferrer 2-3 in Paris , losing in 2 sets to Ginepri last year in round 1

Tomas still has a decent shot making it to Tennis Masters Cup in Shanghai .

  • Berdych with a real good performance against in form Mario Ancic . 6:3 , 6:3 win for Tomas Berdych in the last round .
  • Ferrer against Mardy Fish in two sets but Mardy has no varience in his game at all . Actually Fish could easily win the last set on the tiebreak but knowing his mental shape I would only bet on him winning this set if he was 6-0 up .
  • Ferrer with two first round losses before this tournaments in Paris . He looked like he was just waiting for the Tennis Masters Cup in Shanghai and showed up to pick up the paycheck just liked Chela .
  • I do not see David Ferrer trying anything special tomorrow to win this match as it will not mean much to him . He played many matches this year and will be getting ready for the Masters Cup next week .
Lack of motivation against a top motivated and in very good form Tomas Berdych should end up in a two sets win for Berdych .

Wonder if anybody is gonna tail me here , good luck if you will do .

Nothing , Federer didnt look like he is ready to go to the finals here . He played a lot in the last 2 weeks and I am not sure if he wants to stay here 4 more days or rather prepare for the Masters Cup .
Karlovic took a set off him , not on a tiebreak . Maybe Nalbandian can do it again or Federer will try to get the revenge here .
