Bottom line is...Tennessee is still alive and one step closer to the Superbowl, just like Lou said.

Now Lou can you tell us why Denver dropped out in the last couple weeks of the season????? What did they do that made you take them off of the list??? Thanks

The Broncos finished the season 10-6 SU. How many teams have won a Super Bowl with a 10-6 record since the league went to a 16 game schedule in 1978?

Getting blown out 31-0 during the regular season is generally not the sign of a championship team.

This is taken from my playoff information thread:

"To win a Super Bowl you need to play your best football in January, not December. Sometimes teams peak too early and lose momentum in the playoffs."

The 2003 Patriots fall into the same category as the 2001 Bears, 2000 Titans, 1997 Chiefs, 1993 Oilers & 1987 49ers, all teams that lost SU at home in the divisional round because they peaked too early.

And the same category as the 84 49ers, 85 bears, 86 giants, 91 redskins, 94 49ers, 98 broncos, 99 rams, all teams that peaked before January and won the superbowl.

Ok.......Lou I admit I can follow some points to what you are saying but what I find hard to understand is How can you say the Titans are peaking now and New England or say Carolina isnt. To me Tennessee has really struggled the last 6 weeks. Would'nt you agree with this fact?

By the way how many 11-5 teams have won the SB since the league went to a 16 game schedule???

Tennessee had 12 wins this year.

Teams winning super bowl with 11 or less wins.

1980 Raiders
1987 Skins (only 15 games played)
1988 49ers
2001 Patriots

Lou,

THe pats didnt peak too early. They won for three months straight. They won consistently.

Your analogies are facile.

You could compare the the titans to many past teams that lost in the 2nd round. How about the 93 giants?

I dont post here often but find this thread interesting. Although i think it has a lot of value i do not think it is the end all be all of who will win the super bowl.

Couple quick questions, hope you don't mind answering.

When the Titans were determined your Super Bowl Winner did you.

Put a strike against them for having to go on the road 3 straight games in the playoffs?

Put a strike against them for being a wild card team?

Also how many teams have been able to do either one in the past playoffs?

Thanks in advance.

All the questions, bickering, accusations, ect. would stop; if only BIG LOU would have posted his "CRITERIA". But of course that's not gonna happen; besides big lou LIKES the attention; positive or negative. Reminds one of a woman to some extent eh? Attention/teasing!!!
PS. did post my picks in the monitered thread. You could also see my yearend totals, sort of; as they started over after TRK left. A better reading would be to look at the monitered thread at OGD. By the way; played the titans; and do think they still have shot.

rscl31,

No and no. All criteria is based on what happens during the regular season. I stated earlier that the Super Bowl is won or lost before the post-season begins so those questions you posed do not come into play.

Also how many teams have been able to do either one in the past playoffs?

The 1985 Patriots won three post-season road games but lost to the Bears in the Super Bowl.

A total of three teams have won the Super Bowl as a wild card team (does not include the Super Bowl tournament year of 1982 when 16 teams played in the Wild Card round):

1980 Raiders
1997 Broncos
2000 Ravens

So no team that has started out on the road in the playoffs has won the super bowl? I understand the criteria you use is for the regular season but don't you think that a factor like that is vital?

I am not saying the Titans don't have a shot, i think they have a legit shot. Just don't see how something like those two criteria can be left off the list.

I think it takes so much more to happen right for a road team to win a playoff game.

You're system has called for something to happen that has never happened before (if i'm correct in assuming that no team has started on the road and won the playoffs).

But kudos to you if they do it.

Also, will you be releasing the criteria you used. I am most interested in it.

Lou you are going to haev to expand on that one because frankly, I don't think you really mean what you said.

Apparently you had NE pegged as the winner in 2001, you were a tuck rule and a miracle field goal in a blizzard away from being wrong.

Surely you mean that you can predict who is "most likely" to win the super bowl.

Your statement makes it sound as if it is a foregone conclusion.

You guys need to understand BL can't tell you all of the info about his system

Ya know why??

Because he makes it fit for his liking, plain and simple.

He said this.....

"This is taken from my playoff information thread:

"To win a Super Bowl you need to play your best football in January, not December. Sometimes teams peak too early and lose momentum in the playoffs."

He said Green Bay HAD peaked and that Seattle HAD NOT.
WRONG..........

Also remember he has a regular season info thread for winning the Super Bowl AND a playoff info thread for getting to the Super Bowl. Hmmm......
