DALLAS MAVERICKS -6 over Oklahoma City Thunder, 10 dimes
Okay, we know experience can't be leaned on as too much of a factor. After all, the Thunder's four leading scorers are all under the age of 24. Nevertheless, most members of this team have a lot of time left in their careers. Dallas on the other hand, is a collection of players who see their championship window closing soon. That means desperation, and it shows in the Mavericks record against the spread this postseason. They are in the midst of a remarkable 10-0 (or 9-0-1 in some books) ATS run in these playoffs, and I see no reason to not back them in this situation at home. The long layoff doesn't scare me off. In fact, with the age of most of the Mavs players, the rest should be just what the doctor ordered. When making a general comparison between the two teams, Dallas comes out on top in most categories. They give more effort to defense than the Thunder, their bench is about as reliable as it gets, the share the ball better and rack up more assists, and they are much more devastating behind the arc. OKC's only real advantage is in their potent scoring attack. But without a 30 point scoring performance from Durant, I fail to see how the Thunder will win or cover relying on their defense and supporting cast for points. Don't give too much weight to the Thunder's youth and energy. Dirk and his team are hungry and looking to make a statement at home in game 1.
