Tampa Bay scored three goals in 1:25 of first period ending Game 1 of series early on. Tampa Bay has won its last six road games, allowing a total of ten goals. Bruins mustered only four shots on goal in 8:00 with man advantage in Game 1. Lightning are 3-9 in last 12 games in Boston, 5-8 in last 13 series games, 2-3 this season. Boston won four of last five home games, but they better not fall behind red-hot Lightning 2-0.

Mavericks have to come back to earth after sweeping Lakers out of the last round; they can't believe the gladhanders who have them already in Finals. Oklahoma City had tough 7-game series with Memphis- they'll have to bounce back quickly here. Dallas is oldest team left in playoffs; Thunder is youngest. Teams are only 200 miles apart, so travel won't be an issue in series, unless someone's bus breaks down. Thunder is 2-3 on road in playoffs, with two of the games going OT. Dallas is 5-0 at home in playoffs, winning by 2-12-8-11-12 points. Both teams have superstar who can carry them. Key could be whether Westbrook can keep TOs to a minimum and get Durant shots closer to basket.

Oklahoma City +193 over DALLAS (Series)

Talent wise, the Thunder are as good as anyone. They can play great defense, they can score with anyone and the one-two punch of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook is near impossible to defend. Talent and determination is not the problem. Oklahoma City runs into trouble when they get careless with the rock and make bad decisions. They must limit those errors against a fundamentally sound Mavericks club. Should that come to pass, they have an outstanding chance of reaching the NBA finals. The Mavericks stock is soaring and that’s created an inflated price here. They swept the Lakers in four and beat the Blazers in six and have yet to lose a playoff game at home. However, this matchup cannot be compared to the other two. The Lakers were banged up and athletically speaking, they were not a challenge. In fact, an argument could be made that the Lakers were the least athletic team in the NBA and the Blazers were not far behind. The Thunder are the complete opposite. They’ll crash the boards, they’ll run and gun, they can drive to the bucket and they can hit perimeter shots. Thus far in the playoffs, the Mav’s have not had to deal with such an animal. That’s not to say the Mavericks can’t but playing the Thunder poses a whole different set of issues. Dallas ranked 29th in second chance points and 28th in points in the paint. They have a big edge in experience and decision-making but that’s where the edge ends. This should be a great series and a close series but in no way are the Mavericks 2-1 better than Ok City. The Thunder can absolutely win this series and at this price, they’re almost a must play. Play: Oklahoma City +193 to win series (Risking 2 units).

Oklahoma City +6 over DALLAS

We’re also going to take the points in game one for some of the reasons mentioned above and because the Mav’s stock is too high after sweeping the Lakers. The long layoff for Dallas is also not beneficial when you consider that these guys are used to playing three or four games a week. Play: Oklahoma City +6 (Risking 2.12 units to win 2).

STEVE MERRIL

San Francisco Giants vs. Colorado Rockies
Total 8 over

Bonus Play

The Rockies look for a quick series sweep of the Giants with a win on Tuesday afternoon. They have to hope that Ubaldo Jimenez gets right. The righty is 0-3 with a 6.67 ERA which balloons up to 8.68 at home this season. Jimenez has walked 15 batters in his last 13.7 innings pitched. He has already faced the Giants twice this season giving up 5 runs and eight hits in 11 innings of work. Miguel Tejada (4-12), Pat Burrell (3-9), Freddy Sanchez (9-30), Mike Fontenot (3-10) and Eli Whiteside (1-2) have good numbers against the Rockies’ starter. The Giants have scored 20 runs in their four games so far at Coors Field. They'll face a Rockies’ bullpen that has gotten touched up lately blowing a few leads against San Diego in their last series.

Jonathan Sanchez is a befuddling pitcher. On the road, he has a lack of control with 12 walks in his last 10 innings pitched. Sanchez is 1-2 with a 3.68 ERA in four starts outside of San Francisco. He faced the Rockies in Coors Field back on April 19th and gave up 2 runs and three hits while walking four in 6.3 innings of work. Ty Wigginton (4-8), Troy Tulowitzki (7-20) and Dexter Fowler (4-15) have good numbers against Sanchez. Colorado is hitting .273 in the daytime putting up 5.8 runs per game with 12 of those 14 games going Over the total. They have gone Over in 13 of their 20 home games while hitting nearly .250 in the process. This series has produced 14 Overs in the last 21 games played in Coors Field including all four games this season.

FREDDY WILLS

Astros +170 (1* Bonus Play)

Looking at this match up it seems to be a no brainer as the Astros start Wandy Rodriguez who in his last three starts has a 2.05 ERA over 22.1 IP and a 1.09 WHIP while the Astros won all three of those starts. He has a history of success against hte Braves including a 1.89 ERA over his last three starts and the Braves are 27th in the league in batting average vs. LHP and 24th in OPS with just .230/.639. They manage just 120 AB and a .242 average/.639 OPS vs. Rodriguez in their career. Wandy is also coming in on 5 days rest where the Astros are 9-4 in his last 13 games on 5 days rest.

Derek Lowe makes the start for the Braves and he has yet to really be consistent and facing the Astros might be an issue as Carlos Lee has dominated him in his career going 16-38 with 2 HR a .421 average and 1.109 OPS. He's not the only hitter with an OPS over 1.000 as Michael Bourne has a 1.154 OPS in 13 AB. Lowe in his last 3 starts vs. the Astros posts a decent 4.15 ERA, but gave up 23 hits 5 walks over just 17.2 IP. Both teams struggle to hit during day games, but it is Houston that actually has the better stats during day games with a .256 average and .713 OPS while the Braves have hit just .232 and post a .665 OPS during 15 day games where they have been able to go 8-7.

KARL GARRETT COMP

Tuesday's comp play is Florida over the Mets.

The Marlins edged the Mets in extras last night, as Florida improved to a solid 12-7 away from home this year, while the Mets were dropped to just 8-12 on their home field in Queens.

Florida's Ricky Nolasco has thrown well this spring, going 3-0 with an ERA just over 3, while his counterpart John Niese is only 2-4 with an over 5 ERA for the year.

Niese is also just 1-3 the past 5 times he has started against Florida, while Nolasco is 2-0 his last 5 starts against the Metropolitans.

Gotta side with the "road warrior" Marlins to notch another road win tonight over the Mets.
3? FLORIDA

Dave Cokin

Tuesday Bonus Play is the Rangers.

Golden contender
On Tuesday the Free MLB System Play is on the Philles. Game 961 at 8:15 eastern as we look to take Bonus Plays to 11-1. The Cardinals fit a system that plays against favorites and has cashed for the dog 70% of the time. The Philles are 9-1 vs leftys and 8-3 on the road when the total is 7 or less. They come in off 3 losses and take on the Cardinal team that has lost both times in game 2 of a home series when winning the first game. Oswalt make his first start in over 3 weeks for the Phils and he has a fine 3.15 era vs the Cards. The Phillies also have a solid bullpen that has a 1.98 era. Look for the Phillies to give St. Louis starter all he can handle here tonight. The Phillies are a live dog.

VEGAS EXPERTS

Minnesota Twins at Seattle Mariners

Can't see the Twins putting an end to their losing ways (currently nine games and counting) against King Felix in Seattle Tuesday night. With last night's 5-2 loss, Minnesota dropped to 7-21 vs. right-handed starters and 12-27 overall. Starter Francisco Liriano has a 6.60 ERA in his last three starts and consider that stretch includes a no-hitter. Hernandez has yet to lose at home this season and has a 38-19 TSR in night games. Lay the juice.

Play on: Seattle

Marc Lawrence Comp

Baltimore Orioles at Boston Red Sox
Prediction: Baltimore Orioles

When the Orioles send rookie sensation Zach Britton up against John Lackey and the Red Sox at Fenway Park Tuesday evening Baltimore will do so knowing they are 3-1 in their last four games against Lackey. Meanwhile Lackey enters the contest with 12 walks and five strikeouts in his last three starts and is just 1-4 his last five starts during the month of May. With that look for the Birds to pull the upset here tonight. We recommend a 1-unit play on Baltimore.

4* TORONTO over DETROIT

We have backed Jesse Litsch in some form in each of his last two starts, noting that the quality of his pitches was not being recognized by the marketplace because of a difficult stretch of schedule – he had to face the Red Sox in Fenway, Yankees in the Bronx, and the Rangers in Arlington in succession, which is about as tough as it gets in the A.L. this season. Despite that he carries a 4-2/4.14, and his Hits per 9, K’s per 9 and ground-ball ratios are at career-best levels. Yet he continues to be far off of the radar screens, which is why we get to back him with a team sporting the longest current win streak in the Major Leagues at an underdog return.

One of those Litsch outings we got involved in was an Under ticket against these Tigers two starts back, and while that result went into the wrong column for our pockets, it had nothing to do with the read on the Toronto right-hander – he only allowed one run over 6.1 IP, with more K’s (9) than Hits + W’s combined (7). He followed that up with a win over the Red Sox in which he only issued one W, and had eight ground-ball outs vs. one in the air. We can call for that form to continue, and the bullpen does not bring a fatigue rating.

That bullpen can be a key here, with a monster of a performance gap over their Detroit counterparts, a full 2.51 of ERA, with the Tiger pen arguably the A.L.’s worst to this point. That includes another dismal failure from Joaquin Benoit last night, with his allowance now having risen to 7.98, and the bullpen is a constant issue when Rick Porcello takes the mound. Porcello has only finished the seventh twice, and while his current form helps to bring this price point, we do not see much upside from his arsenal – he is simply a pitch-to-contact guy that has to have the balls hit to the right places, and with Jhonny Peralta at SS that window is not as big as it needs to be for a ground-ball guy.
