Analysis: At 1:05 pm, our selection is on the New York Mets and New York Yankees 'over' the total. Two premier lefthanders will face off in this third and final game of the subway series as Johan Santana gets the start for the Mets and CC Sabathia goes for the Yanks. Santana hasn't really been himself this season even though he has a 5-3 record and 3.13 ERA, numbers which would be considered very good for almost any lefthanded starter. Santana has seen the light-hitting teams of Cleveland (on the road) and San Diego (at home) in his last two starts and in those games he's allowed a combined eight earned runs in 13 2/3 innings. What's even more concerning is the fact that in his first three starts in June, Santana has a combined strikeouts to walks ratio of 5:11 which is very uncharacteristic for the two-time Cy Young award winner. If he pitches like that against the Yanks in the Bronx this afternoon, it's likely he'll be hit hard. CC Sabathia's ERA of 4.00 through his first 14 starts is his highest such number since 2005. Despite the elevated ERA, Sabathia is still winning with regularity, going 7-3 which puts him on pace to once again tally between 15 and 20 wins by the end of the season. It's almost not fair how many runs the Yanks have been scoring for Sabathia lately. In his last four starts, they've plated a total of 29 runs and only one of his last five outings have gone less than a total of nine runs. Take the 'over.'
