Jeff Suppan is back with his old team. He pitched well in his first start back with his old skipper and teammates and he did well going four innings and yielding just one run. He will make another start at home and will look to fill the hole for the Cardinals temporarily given some of the injury issues St. Louis is facing. From that token, I will expect Suppan to be on top of his game. In that same token, Cahill has been money of late going 5-0 with a 2.56era over his last six starts and given the fact he gave up four runs in his last effort against the Cubs (although still picking up the win), I expect him to do himself and his era a favor and bring it back to his usual outing of six innings and yielding two runs today. Note the Athletics are avoiding the fact they might get swept today and are looking to Cahill for a strong start in that effort. Look for both pitchers to have a strong incentive to pitch well as this game likely goes under the posted total.
