Last night: 0-1....-$1.25....Overall record: 19-13....+$7.20

San Francisco--KC UNDER 7

Here's are your consensus picks on college football on Saturday, Oct. 25.

VERY STRONG PLAY: Kentucky +14 1/2 Mississippi St.

STRONG PLAYS: Alabama -17 Tennessee

REGULAR PLAYS

North Carolina +7 Virginia
South Carolina +19 1/2 Auburn
Umass +17 Toledo
Kansas St. -10 Texas
Navy -9 San Jose St.
Ohio St. -14 Penn St.

NORM'S LATE THOUGHTS: No. Illinois has disappointed in a couple of recent games in not covering spreads but winning the game. The 5-2 Huskies travel to E. Michigan today to face sad-sack EMU which has won only one game against a Division ! opponent this year. And immediately following that stunning win they immediately returned to doormat status in getting drilled by struggling UMass. The Huskies have already won on the road at UNLV and Northwestern and should pull away for EMU. So:

Take No. Illinois -20 1/2 E. Michigan

OC Dooley:
2 UNIT” EARLY NATIONAL-TV LINETRACKER TOTAL (Texas at Kansas State UNDER 47’ in a 12 noon eastern kickoff on ESPN): At most offshore locations the total for this contest opened up at the fifty-and-a-half point plaeau but has taken a shocking drop even though this is a contest from the wide open Big-12 Conference. It was a week ago when both Kansas State (31-30 upset at Oklahoma) and Texas (48-45 home shootout with Iowa State) were involved in very high scoring contests that both easily exceeded the posted spots. In this series each of the past two years the winning side has put 31 and 42 points on the scoreboard respectively in what where high scoring affairs and just last night on ESPN two teams (Brigham Young and Boise State) participated in a “high wire” act where the contest was already “over” the total by halftime. One of the reasons why this total is dropping offshore has to do with new Texas head coach Charlie Strong whose main emphasis is on DEFENSE. In his recently completed tenure with Louisville he recruited excellent talent for a defense that is still ranked as one of the nation’s best even though Strong is no longer with the program. Texas comes into today’s game ranked way up at #5 nationally in FEWEST pass yards allowed (163) per outing

Scott Spreitzer Saturday night Perfect-10!

I’m taking the points with Hawaii on Saturday night. Nevada is off a big 42-35 road win over BYU, outscoring the Cougars 22-7 in the fourth quarter. BYU out-gained the Pack 601-411, but Nevada made the most of a plus-3 turnover ratio. Nevada has played in four straight highly intense and hotly contested games (2-2 SU) and will head to the islands after the road trip to Provo. They’re going to run into a decent Warrior defense, especially against the run, and Hawaii is just 9 total points away from a 4-0 SU home record and a 4-3 SU record, overall. Remember, Hawaii’s home losses came by 1 point to Washington and 8 points to Oregon State. Back to Nevada, the Pack have been out-gained by at least 103 yards in each of their last three wins. They were out-gained 427-324 by Washington State; 446-256 by San Jose State; and 601-411 by BYU. That’s 1,474 yards allowed, while gaining just 991 yards, yet they won all three games. The good fortune runs out in Hawaii, in my opinion. The Wolf Pack are on a 0-5 ATS slide on the road against teams with a losing home record, while the Warriors are on a 5-0, 100% ATS run at home, for a perfect, 10-0, 100% mark. I’m grabbing the points with Hawaii, my Saturday night Perfect-10! Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer

Big-12 Main Event Game of the Month. Scott Spreitzer

I’m backing Oklahoma State on Saturday afternoon. I had West Virginia on these pages last weekend and we cashed when they knocked-off Baylor 41-27 in Morgantown. The Mountaineers played well, especially on defense, holding the high-flying Bears’ offense in check. But as we said last week, Baylor was in a tough spot, off the big comeback win over TCU the previous weekend. Speaking of TCU, we also had Oklahoma State last week and unfortunately, TCU clocked the Cowboys. OSU didn’t show up, scoring just 9 points. The offense struggled badly, but they’re now back home where they have won five straight and 23 of their last 25, while covering 13 of their last 17. We should also note that the Cowboys don’t stay down long, having gone 6-1 ATS in their last seven after scoring less than 20 points in their previous game. The Mountaineers have covered just one of their last seven conference games and the defense has had their problems on the road, allowing 38.6 ppg over their last seven away games. WVU has allowed 37, 34, & 33 points in three road games in 2014. Look for HC Mike Gundy to get his team back on track and for the Daxx Garman-led offense to take advantage of a permissive road defense. I’m backing Oklahoma State, my Big-12 Main Event Game of the Month. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer
