Monday NHL+ radio show info

On Monday the 2 unit play is on the under 5.5 goals in the Phoenix at Sanjose game. Rotation numbers 17/18 at 10:30 eastern. All 6 games have gone under at this venue the last 3 years. The Sharks have gone under six of nine times when playing off 3+ overs the last 3 years. Phoenix has played under in three of their first four games so far this year. Look for this one to play under tonight. On Monday night I have the Monday night NFL Total of the Year. This big play is backed with a solid 100% total System. On Sunday we nailed both Top plays on Seattle and the Yankees. Tonight we start the week in grand style with this big Haymaker. For those who want the side selection on this game you can hear it on The Band Box sports talk radio show with Anthony Pierno at 88.9 wsia.fm. I will be in studio at aproximately 7:45 eastern. For the 2 unit Nhl take the under in the Phoenix at Sanjose game. GC

Note: When the Dolphins host their AFC East division rival Jets Monday night they will do so knowing Miami is 8-4 SU and ATS as a Monday night home dog, including 4-0 SU and ATS versus an opponent off a loss and 4-0 SU and ATS versus a .750 or less opponent. With Miami rushing the ball at 5.0 Yards Per Rush and New York allowing 4.2 Yards Per Rush, look for the Dolphins to improve to 9-2 ATS at home in games off a SU and ATS home win here tonight. We recommend a 3-unit play on Miami.

WASHINGTON -½ +1.00 over New Jersey (REG) Pinnacle
This has nothing to do with the “due to win” angle, as that approach is about as ridiculous as the “must win” angle. Fact is, the Caps will be ready and raring to go after dropping its third straight in Detroit on Saturday. The Caps are the superior team, they’re at home, they’re playing much better defensively and even Jose Theodore was terrific on Saturday. Martin Brodeur and the Devils are 2-2, however, they beat Tampa Bay (barely) and followed that up by barely beating the Panthers as well. In fact, it took a last second tying goal to force OT against the Bolts and they scored a late goal to beat the Panthers. Now the Devils will take a huge step up in class against this offensive juggernaut and it’s also worth noting that Brodeur has not been sharp. He’s getting older and shakier every year and frankly, from what I’ve seen thus far, the Devils really don’t look that strong. Play: Washington -½ +1.00 (Risking 2 units).

NY RANGERS -1½ +1.79 over Toronto Pinnacle
Henrik Lundqvist vs Vesa Toskala. Need I say more? It’s almost not fair and there are so many other reasons to like the Rangers as well. For the first time in years the Blue Shirts have some offense and in fact, have scored the third most goals in the league early on. The Rangers have also won four in a row and that includes a win over Washington and a shutout over the Ducks yesterday. It’s early but let’s take a look at what Brian Burke, the over-hyped and way overrated new GM has put together. Two goons (Orr and Rosehill), four lines that can’t score, a weak defense and the biggest problem last season, goaltending, was not addressed either. He also signed the injured Phil Kessel to a huge contract and while that may turn out good, it could also turn out to be a major disaster. The Leafs have yet to win, there’s enormous pressure on them and after giving up three power-play goals and losing to Pittsburgh on Saturday, coach Ron Wilson said, “I’ve never done this before, but we’re going to practice shooting the puck down the ice because we don’t know how”. Wilson’s sarcasm and line changing cannot be sitting well with this fragile Leafs team and asking them to go into New York under these circumstances and pull at a win is a stretch at best. Play: NY Rangers -1½ +1.79 (Risking 2 units).

NFL
Jets vs. Miami
8:35 EST

For a number of different reasons I feel the value in this game is on the home side: The Dolphins racked up 250 rushing yards in a 38-10 blowout of Buffalo last Sunday for their first win of the season, giving QB Chad Henne a victory in his first NFL start. Henne was efficient in his debut going 14 of 22 for 115 yards and a TD without an INT; he was complimented by Miami's wildcat formation and Ronnie Brown who rushed for 115 and two TD's. Remember; the Dolphins clinched the division in the final week last season with a 24-17 road win over New York, ending the Jets’ late-season stumble that cost the team a playoff spot. On the other side of the field: New York suffered its first loss of its season at the hands of the Saints its last time out and I'm expecting a letdown this week as the pressure mounts on its young QB. One of Mark Sanchez’s three INT's was returned 99 yards for a TD in the second quarter, and his fumble was recovered by New Orleans in the end zone less than six minutes later to give the Saints a 17-0 lead. I think the addition of Braylon Edwards will be a big distraction as Sanchez tries to work his new receiver into the mix; a dynamic that will certainly take some time to gel. Bottom line: With a new coach and QB in New York, and with Henne at the helm for the Dolphins, long-term ATS stats are essentially a moot point, however there are a couple that do stand out and must be taken into consideration when breaking down tonight's matchup; dating back to last season, Miami may be 1-4 ATS its last five, but its 10-5 SU its last 15 overall. Also; the achilles heel for New York has been its play on the road; the Jets are a poor 6-13 SU their last 19 away from friendly confines. No matter what the organization says, there is pressure on Sanchez (even if its self-inflicted), and I believe those expectations will lead the young QB to over-think, and to make mistakes; look for the DOLPHINS prolific running attack to be too much for New York's physical defense in this one. *9*MIAMI.

Miami

In a pick em type game, I am taking the home team here who have now had some time with QB Henne to form some chemistry. Miami has only beat the Jets once since 2006 and are 1-5 the last 6 meetings. Miami has lost to all good teams, Falcons, Chargers and Colts, but hammered Buffalo by 28 in here their last game, and I like their chances running the ball tonight at home. NY off a beat down and young rookie Sanchez will see tons of blitz’s and a tough defense tonight, and he will make some bad decisions. Braylon Edwards was brought in to beef up the WR unit for NY, but he still drops more balls on open routes than anyone in the NFL..I am not impressed. Home team, bitter rival, a Must win for Miami at 1-3. A contrarian play here but home teams on Mondays in evenly matched games are always a take in my book

Play 1 Unit on Miami. thanks and good luck..Tony.
