they will try don't worry

but will the people revolt?

that is the question.

as a nation we are now sitting on 9 trillion of debt, baby boomers set to retire with not enough savings, social security and medicare a total mess, and the younger generation is waking up to what is going on. Are they just gonna sit there and take it in the ass with huge taxes and they won't see a dime of when they get old?

in the past they were able to get away with the bailouts, S&L bailouts etc but this time i'm not so sure, and i believe the problem is much bigger than in the recent past, will be interesting to see what the masses do if the fallout does indeed get very very bad.

i agree for the most part. a true crisis in this country whether economic or military might help pull us back together to some extent. some of us have never really experienced such a thing(9/11 is the closest my generation has come to an event that created true pride in our country).

we know the average consumer doesn't have much cash reserves available. we have seen what has happened with credit for housing...this could easily trickle down to credit for the individual consumer for regular retail purchases.

the fallout for all of this will take some time, which is a good thing.

BofA: "Market Dislocations" to Impact 4Q
Friday November 9, 3:29 pm ET
By Ieva M. Augstums, Associated Press Writer
Bank of America Says Market Dislocations Will Hurt Its 4Q Results, but Offers No Estimate

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Bank of America Corp. said Friday that continued "market dislocations," including those related to the value of securities it owns that are backed by loans, will hurt its fourth quarter results.

But the nation's second largest bank did not provide an estimate of how large the impact will be.

In a regulatory filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the bank said it has some exposure to collateralized debt obligations -- complex financial instruments that combine slices of different kinds of risk. CDOs are often partly backed by subprime mortgages, or loans given to customers with poor credit history.

Bank of America does not directly offer subprime loans, but the value of the CDOs has plummeted as an increasing number of subprime borrowers have defaulted on their home loans.

"We expect these significant dislocations in the CDO market to continue, and it is unclear what impacts these dislocations will have on other markets in which we operate or maintain positions," the filing said.

Prime back down to 6.25 percent should help with the mortgage problem.

Creates other problems I understand but also creates oppurtunity for some as well.

Fred will benefit a little as well:lolBIG:

I've traded mutual funds in the last year only with good results. Had one fund that underperformed for 15 years up until then. I've boughten three stocks in my life and never sold a share. NVO, LLL, and a recent cowboy money effort at ISRG, appears I may have gotten in a bit late with that one . I don't know how to even short but I'm getting more interested in it.

JP, as long as rudy doesnt win, Ill be content with any other gop candidate.

However, Id rather see Hillary win than scumbag rudy.

People are freaking out about a small correction in markets.

What would they do if market tanks like it did summer 2002?

Im anxious to see what type of support RP gets if dj falls below 10k, 3.50 gasoline, oil over over 100, gold above 800 and real estate & dollar collapsing.

If you're hoping for another great depression (millions to lose their homes, and jobless with no food), does this mean others have carte blanche to get on bended knee and pray for some nut to assassinate Ron Paul at his next cult rally? :think2:

looking like fred fading into the sunset and its down to rudy vs. paul doing the unthinkable, maybe mitt still in there with the money but just get the feeling he has no national following and just bought and paid for in the early states.

can we get the parabolic rise the last two months is the question and peak at the right time

they are freaking out cause of all the fricking leverage and the fact that dollar is now in the gutter

also the fact that the backbone of the pyramid scheme the banks look like they are in some serious trouble and have some toxic shit on the books and enron type scenerio with a big bank will make enron collapse look like a blip.

once the ball gets rolling it'll be hard to stop

They have alot of mortgage exposure and looking like that company will soon be swimming with the fishies.

Better to be safe now, than sorry later.

easiest way for the layman to short is via etfs you long these just buy them like you would any other stock on the market but they are inversely correlated.

these are extremely volitile and some are leveraged so not for the risk adverse just as a warning

can pick out specific markets you want to bet against as well

qid was up 14% on the week double inverse the nazcrappy 100 :aktion033

I've always had better success in sports picking spots and then betting against the teams I know the most, rather than picking spot and betting on them. Only seems natural that shorting would work the same way.

Everything but Dow is a LOCK:103631605

Dow number all depends on number of factors of course but that number may be irrelevent depending on where dollar is, # of Bernake helicopter drops, etc.

PHP:
People are freaking out about a small correction in markets.

Something tells me we are gonna see alot of freaking out in the next year or two:scared:
