does sound like your fund does go for the jugglar and puts all its eggs in one basket to some extent, having 3 agriboomers that will pretty much trade in unison up and down, as top 3 holdings

so its gonna be real good when the times are good but gonna be quite bad when times aren't so good for them

Sure as shit, as soon as I mention the top three stocks in my favorite fund the three bears go and paint a bullseye on them. Pretty sure I'll be pulling out of that fund tomorrow, down five percent in a week with a lot more of that to come just doesn't seem logical. Kinda sucks though because that fund was up 30 percent last year for me and now I'm not allowed back into it, ever, probably.

Guess I'll wait till the shit hit the fan and just pick up one of those AG boomer stocks on the cheap.

I picked a bad week to try stop chewing.

also you can leave a bit of money in the fund so you can get back in it in the future now that its closed to new investors (i think that's what you mean when you say you can't get back in it?) if you would like to jump back in down the road

you don't have to sell it all

not a horrible place to be

could be much much worse

things are gonna be very very volitile with those holdings regardless

honestly i could be dead wrong with my deflation stuff..

anyway you shouldn't be listening to an internet ranter for financial advice anyway, what i post is food for thought, people need to make their own decisions

use your own personal guidance based on what direction you believe the markets are heading

also on the agriboomer front they were way way overdue for a correction

my thoughts of shorting it was more based on that than anything

and its p/e very frothy to boot

they might be just fine long term who knows

monsanto pretty much went in a straight line from 7 to 123 since 2003

JP, when traders and those using margin get margin calls, they usually sell their winners and keep their losers. That is most often the psychology of both traders and investors (although not really what people should do).

The agri stocks have been some of the best performers the past few years and really spiked higher the past few months. They continued higher even after the overall stock market had clearly began rolling over.

They have fundamental reasons to continue higher and are definitely market leaders. However, during a bear market great stocks will often also get hammered.

BG is a stock I have owned for years and still own.

I also used to own both ANDE and ADM but sold both of those when ethanol was mentioned every other sentence summer 2006.

Id like to own more of this sector but I dont have the funds right now, so currently I'm focused upon trading instead of adding longer term positions.

I agree with Tiznow...talking about being short ag names is a trading opinion instead of a fundamental shift change.

yeah DAW is dead on

i talk to my mom all the time about investments and its so damn hard to get her to sell stuff that is down

but she's more than willing to sell things she made big profits on

just a strange mentality that most people have when it comes to stocks

I do feel that because Ag is about last "sector" to get sick, it may also be the first to get healthy again... after the bears rip it to shreds. Much like pain is the last thing to come and the first thing to go away.

good day!

rest of asia holding up okay slightly red overall and japs still up though but they were due for a bounce as they hammered the most globally since we started falling

now we got credit bubble/housing bubble bursting

and we again cutting this time starting from 5.25%

This is kind of off topic, but has anyone here ever traded in the forex market? I see a few people on ebay selling these "EA's", or expert advisors which attatch to a chart and trade automatically for you. While most of these are B.S. I'm sure, there are 1-2 sellers that have plenty of good feedback. I e-mailed one buyer about the software he purchased, and he says he's averaged 5-10% returns for the past 5 months.

Alright Guys I am out of GS at 194 this am...Took a 14K loss in this one...Probably a stupid trade...BUT I am still DOWN on all financials, just wanted to get out before BEN stepped up and threw as much wood on the fire as possible....I expect a late rally today and maybe on Friday...BUT we will then see another 5% dropand maybe more IMO

much like they've changed the definition of inflation to suite their needs......it appears the definition of deflation has been changed too

deflation is a decrease in the supply of money. NOT falling prices.

anybody see the money supply spigot being turned off? :missingte
