lol there isn't a fact in the world I won't believe. You just were stating facts in regards to your #s. I totally believe you on Gold 4000% because that is correct, 20% per annum or beating S&P in that time frame aren't facts snoop. These are incorrect.

You gave me an impression that gold is worthless piece of metal and you didn't understand why people are piling in gold. If I didn't do a good job of explaining why gold is a good investment, I'll give it another shot. People invest in gold because:

1- It appreciates value over time.
2- It's a hedge against inflation or currency devaluing.
2- A steady gain in a long run.

Gold has racked up a massive 4000% gain since the US ended the gold standard. S&P is lagging behind with 1600%. Your only stance is if dividend reinvested is included, it would beat gold. How many people keep reinvesting dividend since 1971? Beside who is already billionaire, not that many folks do that. Gold has been an investment/saving vehicle for 2000 yrs for above reasons, and many of them are ultra rich, bank on that. Who cares about whether or not gold does not produce any dividend? As long as people is willing to pay $1650/once for it, it won't be a worthless metal as Buffet made it out to be.

If I gave you the impression Gold was worthless, I think that was more you being defensive about gold or something. I'm not sure how reading what I said would make you think I thought Gold was worthless. I know it is the best hedge against inflation/debasement there is in terms of being able to trade it (you could argue property/farmland is moreso though) I know that, not sure why you didn't think I did.

As far as the last paragraph...Are you kidding me? How could you not include dividends reinvested? It is a huge component of S&P return over time. That is like saying don't include the rental income you make on an investment property compared to gold. Just because people don't reinvest dividends doesn't mean they weren't reaping the rewards of them 1 way or another for 42 years. Of course dividends should be included in total return, it is a % of earnings. Why wouldn't what a business earns be included in investment analysis about the business? Unless your point is people are idiots and would just blow the dividend $ anyway, lol.

I agree though Buffet and the other 300K people that get 99% (I believe this is the #) of all capital gains/dividends have a very vested interest in seeing the market stay afloat for as long as it can (something you and Tiz preach everyday)

I own gold, stocks, real estate...literally anything that I can see they would appreciate in value, some does pretty well (GOLD) and other does not (HOUSE). I don't defend gold and trash other. I just call it as I see it.

There are not many people would reinvest dividend checks, and believe it or not, I've seen many people blew away their dividend checks when I used to work for H&R Block. Unless you have multi billion dollar porfolio and well connected with DC, you're taking a huge risk if you allocate a big chunk of your saving in paper asset.

The central bankers have been printing $$$ 24/7 to prop up this puppy since 2008, so enjoy the party while it lasts.

Yeah....People blowing quarterly income doesn't mean it doesn't exist though. It is still $ being paid to you for investing in it. When doing a comparison of equities vs gold or really any two investments you gotta provide the whole picture.

I was mostly just trying to get Tiz going with the article, I even said that. More of like "Tiz..Buffet says his and don't you think XYZ does make SOME sense" but overall I know he has a huge vested interest in saying what he does. Nobody out there to sell 20 billion in stock to but thanks for chiming in anyway snoop.

Obviously this thread is dead sometimes, was just trying to drumup discussion..

Tiz you said you like UFC, I've asked you about it before but I don't think you saw it. You bet it at all?
They actually just announced today it is coming here Aug 17th so I might get tickets. Fox is trying to compete with ESPN and this is gonna be their first Fox1 card or something.

I'm not as big a fan as I used to be but I still like the major fights.

Well I figure I owe UFC some money since I bootleg every PPV I watch (either stream it that night or DL next morning, lol) You need a stream hookup Tiz?

Yeah Edgar is the man although not sure how I feel about his close decisions. He definitely outpointed Henderson if you just go by what scores points, however, he just doesn't hurt anyone when he fights them so it is tough for the judges to give him the close rds.

I do think it will be a huge card though since FOX is trying to go at ESPN.

Been waiting to bet Silva to KO GSP forever but it looks like the fights never gonna happen.

He always do. Unlike Gates & Jobs who became billionaire by making something that changes the world, Buffet became billionaire by riding DC's dicks. Not surprising, he only ran his mouth right after uncle Sam and taxpayers covered his ass. If QE4EVA never happen, my best guess is that article would never exist because most if not all of his stock picks would be trading at the basement prices......Not to mention Buffet was the same guy who blasted out at government deficit and printing 1-2 years earlier.

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/19/opinion/19buffett.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0

That's right.....the guy has a history of talking from both sides of his mouth. He is anti-tax cut for super wealthy yet he signed a pledge to donate all of his asset to Gates Foundation to avoid paying tax. He is anti government deficit yet he supports bailout, anti-gold and bragging about his stock picks yet he never turn down government subsidy for some of his own companies. Hypocrisy at its best if you ask me.

Nah I'm good gives me an excuse to get out of the house and go to a bar...

Yeah frankie just a battler but doesnt have the pop to hurt anybody so hard to score his fights ... UFC just hard to judge sometimes

Silva/Gsp just seems pretty pointless as much as I'd like to see the humping wonder (I respect the guy and his talent but his fights usually a snore) get whooped as its pretty obvious what would happen ...

Obvious to us maybe, but the line wouldn't be more than Silva -240 or so.

Yeah I actually give GSP credit because after the Conditt fight he just said something like "I can't hit like Rampage, I don't have Anderson Silva's agility or Jon Jones athleticism I do the best with what I have" So you definitely have to give him credit for doing the best with what he has, not like he is a natural athlete with 2 brothers in the NFL, however, his fights are boring as hell. Maybe Hendricks can finally give him a run.

If you ever want my stream hookup just PM me, it is pretty good and I hate paying for fights. Atleast if it sucks and its free you can say atleast it was free.

Y Hendricks/Gsp hopefully will be good one ... Was pretty obv tht diaz fight would be garbage was just a WWUFC matchup I despise .... thought Condit at pkum vs Hendricks was a joke as I didn't think Hendricks could hang for the distance with a warrior like Condit what a fight that was... I pay attention to the lines and have my opinions just don't bet it lol

Yeah in a 3 rd fight it is just tough to fade wrestlers. They get in trouble and go for the takedown, look like they are doing some activity from the top and then before you know it is over 29-28 unanimous decision.

One angle I like is fading the experienced/"legend" because in a fast evolving sport someone that was really good 3 years ago doesn't really have much to do with how they are today. I've tried to fade a lot of the Pride guys in the UFC. Most recently Rampage in his last fight vs Tiexera, Teixera was like -260 and 'page was clearly just showing up for the paycheck.

Good thing about physical gold is you can sell it without tax. You can't do that with stocks.

If u want the real stuff go to local coin shop or find a reputable dealer online ... U are going to pay a premium over spot (current price) for the transaction... U will also sell below spot whenever u decide to dump it ... Typically 20 bucks or sdo both ways not really sure what it is these days haven't looked in a while ...

if u don't want it in your hands but u want something concrete (GLD is not) there is CEF (gold/silver audited in a vault) and GTU (gold in a vault... Think they got a few gold certifictes too) ... They are stocks that will follow price of gold/silver... I have some physical but I use these as trading veichiles since easier to deal with and can do so tax free in Roth Ira ...

Probably 2nd in central behind cinci at best and doubtful we'll squeak in the WC this year ... Our rotation too shaky .... And no longer have Astros in our division to best up on ... Our farm is pretty stacked though ... Glad they taking their time and not rushing anybody ... Should be back as perennial playoff contender in a few years ... Did not like the wainwright contract but contracts just getting silly in general so hard to say anymore ...

Y I'm sure u guys will be back in the playoffs this year... But might have to settle for WC with Washington to battle with

that BGCP i posted about a long time ago here as 1 of my favorite divy stocks is up 50% today, the ceo sold 1 segment of their business to the nasdaq for 1.25billion which was more than the market cap of the entire company. talk about being undervalued by the street!! even after todays gains the yield is still 8-9% $.48 a year on a stock under $6 they got enough cash now to buy back every share outstanding. they can basically do whatever the fuck they want now. he gave a great interview on cnbc below. said the divy is ROCK SOLID. who in their right minds would buy us bonds when you can buy a stock like this, they make apple looks like a joke with the cash they have on their balance sheet as a backstop....this stock is going a lot higher down the road, i personally hope the markets shit the bed and it keeps it artificially low so i can continue to add shares....this stock is a GEM!!
