MONROE, La (KNOE 8 News) - District Attorney Jerry Jones confirms that the charges against Alabama athletes Cam Robinson and Laurence 'Hootie' Jones have been dropped.
Jerry Jones cited insufficient evidence in proving who was in possession of the gun and the drugs, thus, he is dropping the charges.
Jones says, "I want to emphasize once again that the main reason I'm doing this is that I refuse to ruin the lives of two young men who have spent their adolescence and teenage years, working and sweating, while we were all in the air conditioning."

I'm a lifelong Alabama fan but I think this stinks to high heaven. Let me or you get caught under the same
circumstances and we would do jail time. Sends the wrong message to college football players and puts
Alabama in a bad light.

This is such a sham CL. I'm all for giving second chances....but this is like two guys standing over a dead body with blood all over their hands and a gun laying on the ground....and neither of them claim the gun is their's so the charges get dropped.

This is an insult to the police officer who made the arrest....and the entire criminal justice system. At a minimum they should have reduced the charges to some sort of bullshit misdemeanor.

Who’s the best coach in the SEC? And what about the best in all of college football? Athlon Sports believes the answer to both of those questions is Alabama coach Nick Saban.
The publication ranked all 128 college head coaches, and Saban comes in on top. The other 13 SEC coaches, listed below, check in between Nos. 17-85.

  1. Nick Saban, Alabama (No. 1 overall)
  2. Hugh Freeze, Ole Miss (No. 17)
  3. Bret Bielema, Arkansas (No. 18)
  4. Dan Mullen, Mississippi State (No. 20)
  5. Butch Jones, Tennessee (No. 23)
  6. Les Miles, LSU (No. 25)
  7. Gus Malzahn, Auburn (No. 29)
  8. Jim McElwain, Florida (No. 30)
  9. Kevin Sumlin, Texas A&M (No. 37)
  10. Kirby Smart, Georgia (No. 54)
  11. Will Muschamp, South Carolina (No. 79)
  12. Mark Stoops, Kentucky (No. 83)
  13. Derek Mason, Vanderbilt (No. 84)
  14. Barry Odom, Missouri (No. 85)

Will Muschamp cracking the top 100 is a complete joke!

Bama Thugs

Nick Saban hasn't commented since the news broke Monday about Robinson and Jones, but has maintained
he intends to discipline both players. According to one report, part of Robinson's internal discipline at Alabama
will include daily "intensive outpatient therapy" with Bradford Health Services and gun safety and ownership
education twice a week with Tuscaloosa Police Sgt. Tommy Rester. Robinson also completed as many as 26
hours of ride-alongs with the Northport Police Department between May 23-27, and has enrolled and will complete
a minimum of 20 hours in the Police Athletic League, a juvenile crime prevention program.

The same report showed Jones' internal discipline included a 21-day stay of "inpatient treatment" and daily out-
patient therapy with an addiction specialist/counselor, as well as twice-a-week gun safety and gun ownership
education. Both players have been suspended indefinitely and will be subject to weekly drug testing, according
to the report.

No word of ice cream breaks between all the therapy and counseling.

Coming from a BAMA!! fan I'll take that as a compliment. If you are trying to justify these two shit-heads getting ALL charges dropped you should go step in front of a Mack truck asap and do us all a favor.

Rowwwwllll Tiiiidee!! BTW, what does Nick Saban's dick taste like?

Alabama Coaches Contracts

The University of Alabama Board of Trustees Compensation Committee approved new
contracts for nine of the ten assistant coaches on Tuesday. Nick Saban's salary wasn't
among the 10 amended coaching contracts up for approval by the trustees. Saban, who
made roughly $7.97 million in 2015 received a raise prior to the 2014 season that saw
his salary rise to just north of $7 million entering the 2015 season. Offensive coordinator
Lane Kiffin was the only assistant football coach whose contract wasn't amended. Kiffin
is still receiving the remaining portion of the three-year contract extension he signed with
Southern Cal before being fired in 2013. That contract pays him $3.4 million per year through
the 2016 season. He's set to make $714,000 from Alabama this season.

Assistant Coaches New Contracts
Lane Kiffin, OC, $714,000, no change
Jeremy Pruitt, DC, 3 years (2016-19), $1 million
Tosh Lupoi, Co-DC/LBs, 3 years (2016-19), $550,000
Mario Cristobal, Co-OL (Ts/TEs), 2 years, (2016-18), $525,000
Scott Cochran, S&C, 3 years, (2016-19), $525,000
Burton Burns, RB/STs, 2 years, (2016-18), $475,000
Derrick Ansley, DBs, 2 years, (2016-18), $$395,000
Billy Napier, WRs, 2 years, (2016-18), $350,000
Brent Key, OL, 2 years, (2016-18), $350,000
Karl Dunbar, DL, 2 years, (2016-18) 275,000

Good staff that is well paid and they damn well earn it working for Nick Saban. Scott
Cochran, who stayed at Alabama despite strong advances from Georgia's Kirby Smart
received an increase of $105,000 per year to make his salary $525,000, tops among
CFB strength and conditioning coaches. Cochran also saw his title change to assistant
athletic director for strength and conditions. Cochran is considered by many to be the
most important assistant coach on Alabama's staff. Yes, he's that valuable to Alabama's
success.

never argued they weren't shitheads and that Nick should suspend them for a few games but making an analogy that this is equal to murder can only come from a gator fan whose players actually do stand over dead bodies with a smoking gun then get a tattoo made of their accomplishment

as far as nick's dick you might have to ask your coach who would be calling signals for bowling green if it wasn't for CNS. fairly certain coach mac masturbates to his bama OC offer letter to this day

a half a fucking gram of weed? lol, that's pretty much called being out of weed

they should not have gotten it tossed...should be a misdemeanor but comparing it to murder? you're a moron cvnt

CoachCB and RollTide are two longtime veterans here at theRX.

Both are good men and outstanding contributors to CFB.

Now, fellow posters can draw your own conclusions about this matter.

*Interesting take on Tennessee's first game tomorrow.

Sumlin (with johnny and kingsburry) had us fooled. He made a good move in the offseason bringing back the OL coach that brought in and coached Sherman OL. I don't know what to think of the mazzone hire. it's always the same coach speak, he is producing something special... new wrinkles... yada yada

Mazzone has coached in the SEC with Tommy Tuberville at Ole Miss and then followed Tuberville to
Auburn. I never was all that impressed with him but he keeps landing good jobs. He needs good QB
play at A&M or he's in for a troubled year.

Tennessee Opener

Tennessee has a big game against Virginia Tech early season but first they have to get past
a tough little Appalachian State in the first game. App State posted an 11-2 record last year
behind a good offense and even better defense, that finished No. 13 nationally in total defense.
The unit could be even better this season with 9 returning starters. The Mounties don't seem
to have a single hole in their defensive depth chart. They only lost one starter, senior defensive
end Ron Blair from a front seven that allowed just 3.44 yards per carry during 2015. If App
State can find someone to replace Blair's high production in the pass rush, they'll have a chance
to be better than last year. On offense, 6 starters return including the quarterback and running
back. They must find new wide receivers as all starters from last year are gone. The quarterback
threw for 32 touchdowns last season and the starter at running back rushed for 1,428 yards so
there is talent at the skill positions. Along with three receivers, two offensive linemen must be
replaced. Last year against Clemson, App State ran for 200 yards but had trouble throwing the
ball with just 95 yards. Clemson rushed for 140 yards and passed for 252 yards with 3 touchdown
passes. Tennessee is a 22.5 favorite at most places right now. Several of the computer predictions
I've seen have them winning by 14. I agree, the Vols win but not by 22.5.

LSU

The Tigers are expected to be good in 2016 as ESPN's Football Power Index ranks them second
in the country and projects them to win 10.2 games. Offshore book 5Dimes is also confident in
LSU, putting its over/under at 10.5 wins when it released SEC win totals last month. The Tigers
are coming off a 9-3 year capped by a 56-27 win over Texas Tech in the Texas Bowl. LSU went
5-3 in SEC play, finishing fourth in the West Division. They were ranked No. 16 in the final AP
poll. This year's team returns virtually everyone from last year...to be exact, 18 starters are back.
Also, for the fourth straight year, Les Miles and staff signed a top 10 recruiting class in 2016. Talent
is there and so is one of the better coaching staffs in the SEC. Defensive line coach Ed Orgeron is
about as good as any assistant in the game when you consider coaching and recruiting. Offensive
coordinator Cam Cameron has been a head coach both in the NFL (Miami) and college (Indiana) and
defensive coordinator Dave Aranda is a rising star at his position. Also, Steve Kragthrope is a former
head coach at Louisville and Tulsa. Add in Jeff Grimes (OL), Dameyune Craig (WR), Steve Ensminger
(TE), Jabbar Juluke (RB) and Corey Raymond (DB) giving the Tigers a very solid staff. This is a good
group and the talent level is there as the roster is loaded with NFL talent. It's time for the coaches
to put it all together...anything less than 10 wins could send Les Miles packing. The pressure is on!

Sidenote: Les Miles is 2-8-1 against the spread in conference home openers at LSU. He is
2-11-1 including his time at Oklahoma State.

Arkansas Opener

The Louisiana Tech team that will visit Arkansas on September 3 is certainly not last year's
team. Quarterback Jeff Driskel and running back Ken Dixon are headed for the NFL along
with defensive tackle and first round draft choice Veron Butler. The Bulldogs return just nine
starters leaving holes almost everywhere...especially on defense where only three starters
are back. The defense neither has quality or quantity to line up against a huge Arkansas
offensive line and really big running backs. Louisiana Tech will be a work in progress this
season and will get their asses handed to them in this opener. I will play the Hogs to cover
the 21.5 with ease.

Arkansas offensive line and back starters:
LT Jackson 6-6, 305
LG Froholdt 6-4 310
OC Ragnow 6-5, 315
RG Wallace 6-6, 325
RT Skipper 6-10 330
TE Sprinkle 6-6 255
RB Walker 6-2 250
FB Jackson 6-1 250

This game will be over by halftime.

Play Against ALABAMA

There's a winning proposition regarding a reigning national champion dating back to 1980.
Alabama fits this situation for the 2016 season...........

(Play AGAINST Alabama after a SU and ATS win if they are facing a non-conference opponent.)

Reigning Champs are 22-50 ATS (30.6%) in this situation. Last season, Ohio State was 0-2 in this role.
For what's it's worth, the last two times Alabama was a defending national champion (2012 and 2013),
the Tide failed to cover all three times in this role even though they outscored the opposition 120-10
in those games.

Betting against the national champions in this situation would have produced a 69.4% WINNER since
1980.

Alabama

Many critics say this is the year Alabama takes a step back while going through a true rebuilding
year. There's no veteran leadership at quarterback, the running back corps doesn't have a natural
successor, the offensive line is more sizzle than steak and the schedule is much more brutal than
it has been in years past. Bama opens the season with a loaded USC team and the Trojans would
like nothing better than to take down the reigning national champions. Ole Miss clearly has Alabama's
number winning 2 straight, and road trips to Tennessee and LSU will be difficult for this relatively
inexperienced group to overcome. Some valid points against success for the Tide but I say Horseshit...
don't doubt this 2016 team.

Defensively, Alabama won't miss a beat. The faces may change some, but the results will remain the
same. The front seven will be the best in the conference with studs everywhere. The secondary will
also be one of the best in the nation. Getting safety Eddie Jackson back after he flirted with the NFL is
huge, and Marlon Humphrey and Minkah Fitzpatrick are super sophomores on the corners. This year's
edition will be hard to score on just like in past years.

On offense, seems like every year critics are screaming the sky's falling but it never does and won't
this season. The offense will compliment the defense just fine.

Don't sleep on this Alabama team.......................
