You may be right linebets. Certainly the September 24 Florida @Tennessee game will
be a big one. Florida-Tennessee series going back to the 2005 season. All won by
Florida.

2005: 16-7
2006: 21-20
2007: 59-20
2008: 30-6
2009: 23-16
2010: 31-17
2011: 33-23
2012: 37-20
2013: 31-17
2014: 10-9
2015: 28-27
2016: ?

Florida will go into that game as a dog where over the past four seasons they are 8-3 SU
as a road underdog.

One of the best ADs in the country, Jeremy Foley, set to retire from Florida on October 1.

Most Gator die-hards love the guy. I personally think he fucked up twice, hiring Zook....and really fucked up hiring Muschamp....then he gave Muschamp an extension, costing UF more than $6 million in severance pay. He's done great w/ the "olympic" sports. UF has won the SEC All-Sports Trophy in 24 of his 25 seasons at UF. But honestly, you got to be a retard not to have success at Florida. Which is why Muschamp is a retard (and what the hell was South Carolina thinking?).

He, Foley, was also instrumental in hiring Billy Donovan who took Florida basketball into the big-time.....(2) back-to-back National Championships in 2006 & 2007........No small fete now days.

Mack, you are our favorite here at this great CFB forum. You always look at the total picture that so many
of us here miss at times. Our sorry asses included.

Foley led Florida to 27 national championships and Florida won the SEC All-Sports Trophy every year but
once during his his time as athletic director.

BEST...Hell yes....none others in the same ballpark.

looks like Bama's safety Maurice Smith is looking to transfer for his final year. He already graduated so will not have to sit a season. Smith was projected to be a starter in their nickel defense and this makes for surprising news with Burgess-Becker leaving last month and Tony Brown likely facing 4-6 game suspension to start the season. getting a little thin on DL and DB....

Very true clover. Florida has dominated the Florida/Tennessee match ups for a while now. My only point about learning to win against good teams, if i recall correctly, is that Tennessee lost to florida by letting them score 2 TDs in the last 5 minutes then missed a game tying long field goal. Let OU run out most of the 4th quarter to tie it up and was outlasted in 2 OTs. Couldnt get it going against Arkansas in the second half. Able to take the lead against Alabama in the 4th but, the defense couldnt stop them from imposing their will.

Cant wait for college football season to start.

I absolutely love this idea put forth by Kirk and Connelly to make every power-5 conference a single table without division. Here's how it works in SEC, http://www.sbnation.com/college-foo...-schedule-format-divisions-rivalries-rotation

rest of power 5 program at http://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2016/6/16/11935718/ncaa-conferences-divisions-scheduling

In the SEC each team will have 3 protected rivalries. For Bama that means Auburn, LSU, and Tennessee to be played each and every season as it is now.

Bama's other 10 SEC opponents would be played alternating years and alternating stadiums keeping that 8-game SEC schedule but allowing every SEC team to visit Tuscaloosa in a 4-year period where now it can be a decade. This schedule also creates tremendous balance (read point #3 in SEC article) and the SEC Championship Game would simply be #1 and #2 on the table.

Bama schedule even years:
Auburn
LSU
Tennessee
Florida
Kentucky
Texas a&m
Mississippi State
Missouri

Bama schedule odd years
Auburn
LSU
Tennessee
Arkansas
Georgia
South Carolina
Vanderbilt
Mississippi

A little footnote regarding Jeremy Foley: When my Son played (round) ball at Florida (77-81) Jeremy Foley was the assistant ticket manager for all Gator athletic events. That was a giant leap from ticket sales to Athletic Director in a single bound.......I never found out who his mentor(s) were that gave him such a big push.

Foley succeeded Bill Carr who was the AD from 79-86. Carr is an interesting
story; the Son of a Baptist Minister who play his H.S. ball in Pensacola (Fl); He was a first-team all-state center his senior year and played the same position
for the Gators under Ray Graves; He earned first team All American honors in 1966. He never had the winning success Foley had but he was well-like....he had the right demeanor that fit-in well with the Gator (Florida) culture.

He also allowed UF's facilities to fall off considerably in the "arms race" and recruits have openly mentioned how surprised they were/are at UF's (poor) facilities compared to the rest of the conference. McElwain demanded an IPF before he would take the job....and other upgrades (which are now in progress).

The Donovan hire was a great hire. It was also a lucky hire. Foley tried to pull a Donovan w/ Muschamp and it's cost UF 5+ years of football mediocrity. Under Muschamp, UF had it's first losing season since 1979....lost to a 1-AA team....ended a 20+ season sellout streak.....ended a 25+ year winning streak vs. Vandy.....among other things. For the good Foley did, football is King. This is the SEC. And UF has fallen so far behind it's pathetic. If the McElwain hire is a bust, UF will be in a 10 year downturn in football. That's inexcusable with all the resources UF has.

You're right Coach......When Carr retired 1986 Foley was appointed as the "Interim" Athletic director; Florida then hired Arnsparger as the AD and Foley
was hired as the "Senior Associate Athletic Director"......He became AD in 1992 when Arnsparger resigned. Sorry for the "stutter-step......A senior lapse I guess .......ha.....

That's awesome! I could get behind that kind of scheduling. Much better than the current format.

Richest/Poorest SEC Football Programs 2014-15

Vanderbilt - As the only private school in the Southeastern Conference, Vanderbilt has the
smallest fan base and football stadium (40,550) in the league. In addition to those limitations,
a bad stretch with head coach Derek Mason hasn't helped the Commodores. Vanderbilt made
a paltry $3 million profit off football in 2014-15.

Alabama - It should come as no surprise that Alabama top the list as the SEC's most accomplished
football program. Alabama has a massive fan base willing to shell out a lot of money to watch the
Crimson Tide play on Saturdays. Alabama has one of the nation's healthiest athletic departments,
almost solely supported by the football program.

Money Generated By the Football Program (2015)

1. Alabama ($97.02 million)
2. Tennessee (494.37)
3. Auburn ($86.74)
4. Georgia ($86.71)
5. LSU ($86.31)
6. Florida ($74.72)
7. Arkansas ($66.17)
8. Texas A&M ($62.19)
9. South Carolina ($59.76)
10. Ole Miss ($53.39)
11. Missouri ($37.89)
12. Kentucky ($35.49)
13. Miss State ($31.3)
14. Vanderbilt ($27.4)

*Mississippi State spent a league low $17.2 million on their football program.
*Tennessee turned a $70 million profit off of their football program.
*Florida generated a $37.3 million profit off their football team.
*Arkansas earned a $35.3 million profit off football.
*Georgia made over $60 million off its football team.

Without strong football programs, all other athletic programs would suffer.

Hell of a weekend. One of my fishing buddies and I caught 13 largemouth Saturday but
only two today. We went back to the same spot and two one pounders were all we could
get in the boat.

Fishing is great but I'm like Linebets....READY FOR SOME COLLEGE FOOTBALL.

MONROE, La (KNOE 8 News) - District Attorney Jerry Jones confirms that the charges against Alabama athletes Cam Robinson and Laurence 'Hootie' Jones have been dropped.
Jerry Jones cited insufficient evidence in proving who was in possession of the gun and the drugs, thus, he is dropping the charges.
Jones says, "I want to emphasize once again that the main reason I'm doing this is that I refuse to ruin the lives of two young men who have spent their adolescence and teenage years, working and sweating, while we were all in the air conditioning."

Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly was the only signal caller in the Southeastern Conference
to top the 300-yard mark through the air last year, when he averaged 310.9 yards per game
for the Rebels, and led the program to its second straight New Year's bowl berth. He's back
for more and how Kelly plays will determine much of the success for the team. While he won't
have All-American wide receiver Laquon Threadwell to work with in 2016, the Rebels are loaded
with a bunch of "No. 2" receivers including Quincy Adeboyejo (38 catches last year), Damore
Springfellow (36), and tight end Evan Engram (38). Van Jefferson and Damarkus Lodge along
with a loaded recruiting class will also contribute. I'm guessing Kelly will have another season
where he averages more than 300 yards per game.

Sidenote: Kelly completed 298 of 458 passes for 4,042 yards with 31 touchdowns and 15
interceptions last year.

Texas A&M

Texas A&M's Christian Kirk is the most versatile player in the Southeastern Conference, and new
offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone (UCLA) will find a way to get him the ball through the air and
on the ground more consistently in the new look Aggie offense. Kirk had 80 catches for 1,009
yards list year in an offense that went through some quarterback problems. He also had 341 yards
returning punts and 385 yards on kickoff returns plus another 54 yards rushing. Kirk has already
established himself as one of the most dangerous weapons in the country. I look for him to be in
the top-5 in all-purpose yards this season.

Man, Kevin Sumlin's street cred has tumbled the last year or two.

For awhile (with Johnnie) he was the next great coach.

Now rated #37. Wonder what Charlie Strong was rated?
