Auburn in tough for remainder of schedule
Stephen Campbell

The No. 2 ranked Auburn Tigers have started out the college football season on a great note by winning all five of their opening games, but thanks to the schedule makers, things won't be getting any easier for the club.

Many college football pundits believe Auburn has the hardest schedule of any team in the loop, as five of their remaining seven games are against Top 25 teams. The Tigers face off against No. 6 Mississippi State Saturday.

According to ESPN, Auburn has four games remaining on their schedule with a projected winning percentage lower than 60 percent, including their Week 6 clash against the Bulldogs (59.4 percent).

Mississippi State is currently listed as 3-point home dogs with a total of 64.

Injuries making Duke's defensive line thin
Justin Hartling

Not only will the Blue Devils be without DE Dezmond Johnson for the third straight game, they will also be without DL Jamal Wallace. With both those players out, it will leave Duke with a four-man end rotation according to the Charlotte Observer.

Duke's opponent this week, Georgia Tech, is averaging 410.2 yards per game in their spread option attack.

KEY STAT: Oxford have conceded only seven goals on their travels in League Two

EXPERT VERDICT: Recently promoted Cambridge have struggled to gain a solid foothold in League Two, losing three of five home games so far. Oxford’s position might prove deceptive. Michael Appleton’s side are becoming harder to beat and a first away win is surely on the way.

RECOMMENDATION: Oxford

KEY STAT: Torquay have scored two goals or more in four of their last five away fixtures

EXPERT VERDICT: Promotion-chasing Torquay have had a free midweek and their extra freshness can help them defeat struggling Alfreton at the Impact Arena. Alfreton have slipped back into the drop zone after four successive defeats and may struggle to contain the free-scoring Gulls, who are just five points adrift of leaders Barnet.

NLCS: San Francisco vs. St. Louis

Records:
SF: 92-75 overall, 46-37 home, 46-38 road
STL: 93-73 overall, 53-30 home, 40-43 road

Playoff recap: Both these teams didn’t have home-field advantage in the NLDS, but found a way to knock off division champions. Granted, the Cardinals claimed the NL Central title, but it was no easy task to eliminate the Dodgers for the second straight postseason. St. Louis bumped Los Angeles in four games, while beating Cy Young favorite Clayton Kershaw twice, including in the Game 4 clincher at Busch Stadium, 3-2 as +150 home underdogs. The Cardinals have reached the NLCS for the fourth straight season and amazingly all three times since Albert Pujols departed in free agency after the 2011 title.

The Giants are looking to keep up their streak of domination in even years, at least in this decade. San Francisco hoisted a World Series championship trophy in 2010 and 2012, as Bruce Bochy’s team survived the Wild Card round with ease by shutting out the Pirates. The Giants stayed on the East Coast and edged the NL East Champion Nationals in a pair of road contests, while finishing off Washington at home in four games. San Francisco cashed as an underdog in all three wins, as this squad has won 11 of its past 11 playoff games since trailing the Cardinals, 3-1 in the 2012 NLCS.

Season series review: The road team dominated this series, posting a 5-2 record. San Francisco grabbed three of four meetings at Busch Stadium in late May, while scoring 23 runs in the three victories. The Cardinals picked up some revenge in the Bay Area one month later, taking two of three matchups. Game 1 starter Adam Wainwright split a pair of starts against the Giants this season, as the lone victory came at AT&T Park, tossing 7.2 scoreless innings in a 2-0 triumph. Giants’ ace Madison Bumgarner beat the Cardinals at Busch Stadium, but was knocked around at home as a -155 favorite in a 7-2 defeat.

FS1 to air alternate telecast of NL Game 1

NEW YORK (AP) - Fans will be able to watch an alternate telecast of Game 1 of the NL Championship Series focused on sabermetrics.

The main broadcast of Saturday's opener between the San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals will be on Fox. Cable channel Fox Sports 1 will also show it, with extended replays and statistical analysis of batter-pitcher matchups, umpiring tendencies and defensive shifts.

Kevin Burkhardt will call the game from the studio alongside Gabe Kapler, CJ Nitkowski, Rob Neyer and San Diego Padres manager Bud Black. The broadcast will sometimes use a ''double box'' to show the commentators and live action at the same time.

FS1 will air the main coverage of five of the last six NLCS games, with Fox showing only a possible Game 6.

Alternate telecasts have recently become more popular for major sports events, such as ESPN's multiple offerings during January's BCS title game and Turner Sports' ''home team'' announcers during the Final Four.

NLCS Game 1 Preview

SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS (92-75) at ST. LOUIS CARDINALS (93-73)
Line & Total: St. Louis -121, San Francisco +111, Total: 6.5
Opening Line & Total: St. Louis -132, San Francisco +122, Total: 6.5

The NLCS starts on Saturday as two of the most consistent teams from the last decade, the Giants and Cardinals, meet up at Busch Stadium.

In a battle of two great pitching staffs, San Francisco outdueled Washington, the National League’s best team, over four games in the NLDS to reach this round. The Giants allowed a mere nine runs over the length of the series while squeaking out three one-run victories, including the first two on the road. The clincher came on Tuesday when they captured a 3-2 win despite going a meager 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position, but took advantage of mistakes from Washington pitching.

C Buster Posey (.391) was 7-for-18 in the series as he manned the duties behind the plate. St. Louis also was the underdog going into its NLDS with the Dodgers and came away with a 3-1 series win with a Game 1 come-from-behind victory and two wins at home to close out the set.

The Cardinals were able to defeat reigning Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw twice in the four contests. In Game 4 they held the Dodgers to a 1-for-7 mark with runners in scoring position, and got a huge three-run homer off the bat of 1B Matt Adams in the bottom of the seventh in a 3-2 game. Although he was held hitless with two strikeouts in Tuesday’s contest, 3B Matt Carpenter provided surprising power in the series as he went 6-for-16 with three doubles, 3 HR, 7 RBI and four runs.

Another exciting pitching matchup will take place on Saturday as LHP Madison Bumgarner (1-1, 1.13 ERA) of the Giants goes up against RHP Adam Wainwright (0-0, 12.46 ERA) for the host Cardinals. San Francisco has been a great road team throughout the year with a 46-38 record (.548, 7th in MLB), while St. Louis has gone a majors-best 53-30 (.639) when playing at Busch Stadium.

There has been no real advantage when these two clubs have met in the past three seasons as they have split 26 games (13-13) against each other while also splitting the 14 games (7-7) in St. Louis. Recently, the Giants have been able to do well when playing on the road though, defeating the Cardinals in 3-of-4 games there this season as they totaled 23 runs.

Bettors should know that San Francisco has gone 42-25 (.627) after having won two of its previous three games this season while St. Louis is 29-7 (.806) in home games with an OBP of .285 or worse over its past five games in the past three years.

One injury to watch on the Giants side of the diamond is OF Michael Morse (oblique) who is questionable for the contest, while OF Angel Pagan (back) and 2B Marco Scutaro (back) remain out for the duration of the playoffs.

The Cardinals have no significant omissions due to injury heading into this series.

Madison Bumgarner has been one of the elite pitchers in baseball over the past four seasons with at least 200 IP, 13 victories and a sub-3.40 ERA in that time. He continued his dominance in 2014 while striking out a career-high 9.1 batters per nine innings and having a career-low walk rate of 1.8 BB/9. Bumgarner always gives his team a chance to come away with a win after finishing the regular season with 10 straight outings of at least six innings pitched and opened these playoffs with two impressive starts as well.

First, he dominated in the Wild Card game with a four-hit shutout with 10 K's, and then was the hard-luck loser after a solid outing (7 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 6 K's) versus Washington. Overall in his postseason career, Bumgarner is 4-3 with a 2.96 ERA and 1.08 WHIP, while he allowed a mere 11 free passes and four homers in 51.2 frames. Against the Cardinals in his career, he has struggled to a 3-5 record over eight starts with a 4.78 ERA. But his WHIP in this matchup is a strong 1.18, and he was tremendous the last time he pitched at St. Louis on May 30 when he tossed seven shutout innings, allowing three hits and striking out 10 batters.

OF Jon Jay and 3B Matt Carpenter have done well off the lefty, combining to go 8-for-16 with five doubles and 2 RBI, while SS Jhonny Peralta (1-for-9, 1 HR, 2 RBI), OF Matt Holliday (2-for-16, 5 K's) and 1B Matt Adams (0-for-3, 2 K's) have struggled in the matchup.

San Francisco’s bullpen has been excellent all year at 34-14 (.708) with a 2.97 ERA and 1.05 WHIP while successfully converting 49-of-68 (72%) save opportunities. Closer Santiago Casilla (0.00 ERA, 2 saves) threw three innings in the NLDS in which he did not allow a hit and walked just one batter after going 19-for-23 (83%) in his save chances over the regular season.

Adam Wainwright was the NL starter for the All-Star Game and for good reason, as he finished the season with 20 victories (2nd in NL) and a 2.38 ERA (3rd in NL). This was the fourth season in five years that he had at least 19 wins, as he has thrown 198 or more innings each time and has posted a walk rate under 2.0 BB/9 in each of the past two campaigns.

After finishing off the regular season with four very impressive performances in which he allowed a mere two runs in 33 IP, Wainwright struggled in his NLDS start against the Dodgers (4.1 IP, 11 H, 6 ER, 1 BB, 5 K's) as he earned a no-decision. In the past he has done much better in the playoffs though, with a 4-3 record, 3.13 ERA and 1.10 WHIP, while walking just 1.3 batters per nine innings in 19 appearances (10 starts). His numbers in this matchup are pretty strong, as he's 5-5 (team 6-5) with a 2.86 ERA and 1.13 WHIP versus San Francisco.

OF Hunter Pence (.275 BA, 4 doubles, 2 HR, 4 RBI, 12 K's in 51 AB), OF Michael Morse (4-for-14, 1 doubles, 1 HR, 3 RBI) and 3B Pablo Sandoval (6-for-18, 2 RBI) have all done well against the masterful veteran, while C Buster Posey, OF Gregor Blanco and 1B Brandon Belt have combined to go a woeful 7-for-39 (.179) with four strikeouts in the matchup.

The Cardinals’ relievers haven't been great this season at 28-24 (.538) with a 3.63 ERA and 1.23 WHIP, but have gone 58-for-75 (77%) in save chances. Closer Trevor Rosenthal (3.00 ERA, 3 saves) earned a save in each of the NLDS victories after going 45-of-51 (88%) in the regular season and walking far too many batters (5.4 BB/9).

Wainwright calms fears, says elbow is fine
By THE SPORTS XCHANGE

ST. LOUIS -- When Adam Wainwright takes the mound for the St. Louis Cardinals in Game One of the National League Championship Series against the San Francisco Giants on Saturday night, he knows there will be a great deal of focus on his right elbow.

He understands the concern, but Wainwright wants to reassure everybody that he is physically fine.

"When people hear 'elbow,' they think the worst, and, you know, rightfully so," Wainwright said Friday. "I've obviously had an elbow issue before; I had that fixed. And if you see the amount of stars going down with elbow injuries these days, it's natural to have that reaction. I understand that, so I don't ever scoff at people that worry about elbow problems here or there.

"There's all kinds of sides of your elbow, ligaments and tendons in there that do different things. The only thing I can do is tell people it's not my ligament, my ulnar collateral ligament, and trust that people will believe me," he said. "If they don't, that's OK. I'll go out and hopefully prove that I'm OK with my pitching."

Wainwright admitted his elbow still was bothering him when he started the opening game of the division series against the Dodgers, giving up 11 hits and six runs in 4 1/3 innings. That's the only game he has pitched since Sept. 22.

"Here is the positive: I can be very honest about this because I've been through it," Wainwright said. "When I took a game off after my Tampa start earlier this season, I aggravated my elbow, and it's the backside of my elbow. So the elbow-fearing world can know it's not my ligament.

"But on the backside of my elbow I aggravated something. When I did that, it got to its worst. After that, it goes on the mend and gets better and better progressively.

"The other day I re-aggravated that same spot on the backside of my elbow and now I'm on the mend, and I can feel something. I'm very confident about it because I felt that before, the exact same thing. I was able to recover. I have no doubts going into tomorrow."

Wainwright's optimism is aided by the fact he will be pitching at home on Saturday, wearing the Cardinals' alternate jerseys, which they have worn on Saturdays.

Over that span, Wainwright has gone 7-0 with a 0.99 ERA at home on Saturdays, (six earned runs in 54 1/3 innings) allowing 31 hits and walking four while striking out 57.

"I do love the alternate jerseys," he said.

NOTES: The Cardinals made one roster change from the NLDS, adding catcher A.J. Pierzynski and dropping left-handed pitcher Sam Freeman. Manager Mike Matheny said the Cardinals made the move "to have another experienced bat, and what A.J. has been able to do through his career and in the postseason gives us another -- actually a couple options. It also frees us up to use Tony Cruz to come off the bench as a right-handed bat, but bringing A.J. in as a potent left-handed bat for us." ... Freeman basically lost his spot to rookie left-hander Marco Gonzales, who worked three scoreless innings in relief against the Dodgers, allowing just two hits, and earned two of the Cardinals' three wins. ... The Giants are expected to also make one change to their roster, activating outfielder Michael Morse, who missed the NLDS against Washington because of a strained oblique. The team is waiting to make the move official until after Morse arrives in St. Louis. He has been in Arizona, taking at-bats in the Instructional League, and manager Bruce Bochy said he wanted to meet with Morse before making a final decision. "If he feels good you will see him on the roster," Bochy said. ... Left hander Madison Bumgarner will start Game 1 for the Giants, and he knows one of the keys to the Cardinals' victory over the Dodgers was the performance of their left-handed hitters against left-handed pitchers. Against L.A., the Cardinals' left-handed hitters were 15-for-41, a .366 average, with five homers and 13 RBIs versus left-handed pitchers. Bumgarner limited left-handed hitters to a .224 average in the regular season and allowed just one home run, to Carlos Gonzalez of the Rockies, in his third start on April 11. "I faced them a couple of times this year and it's not the typical left-on-left matchups," Bumgarner said about the Cardinals. "They seem pretty comfortable facing left-handed pitching. It tells how good of hitters they are. I just have to be careful and make pitches to them and hope the ball bounces our way." ... Bochy confirmed that Jake Peavy will pitch Game 2 of the series, against the Cardinals' Lance Lynn, but would not commit to his pitching plans for games three and four.

Race 2

(1) SOUTHWIND SILENCE owns only one win on the year but finds a much softer spot. (2) SOMEISLANDSOMEWHERE is a well-bred filly that gets sent out for proven connections. (1A) SAYITALL BB makes her first start off a long layoff but the trainer has a good record of sending them ready off the bench.

Race 3

(5) MR LELANDS‘S FILLY has been off three weeks but does love to come flying late. (3) WELL HELLO THERE takes a big step down in competition. (1) ANGEL DEMON has been very inconsistent but makes her third start for a new barn that is dangerous.

Race 4

(6) E L TITAN looks to be fresh and just now back in racing shape. The well-bred colt picks up a top driver and will look to slay the dragon late. (4) FATHER PATRICK was out-gamed by his stable mate after collaring him in early stretch last start. The impeccably bred trotter will be a heavy favorite and could be vulnerable if someone challenges him early. (2) ODDS ON AMETHYST is a stable mate to the heavy favorite and could be primed for a big effort.

Race 5

In a field with two contenders, (3) BIG BOY DREAMS is a nice looking colt that was the top driver‘s choice, getting sent out second start for the top barn in the country. (2) SOMESTARSOMEWHERE owns the best win in the field on the year. (1) LORD OF MISRULE should offer some value underneath from the rail.

Race 6

(1) LIFETIME PURSUIT has been the best filly trotter in the country all year long and will look to rebound off a defeat for a big payday. (3) CEE BEE YES outdueled the top selection last out; threat. (9) SHAKE IT CERRY is a world champion trotter, but could be up against it from a tough post; don’t count her out.

Race 7

(1) EARNDAWG will look to cap off an impressive season and just needs a good setup to come flying late. Indiana bred (5) SIR MAMMO has flashed some ability and finds a field that came up soft. (4) BUCKLE UP could be over bet off the Lexington lines, but perhaps he gained some confidence; going for four straight victories.

Race 8

(3) FIVEKNUCKLESHUFFLE gets a huge driver change and is just now back in racing shape. (7) BLOOMING GENIUS doesn’t look the best on paper but a good effort puts him on the ticket at a price. (6) MISTER VIRGIN has some upside and appears to be on the improve, but is probably best used underneath.

Race 9

(5) MARKET SHARE will be much closer turning for home and raced big at this track last year. (4) WISHING STONE is small in stature but has a huge heart. The well-bred stallion gets sent out for the top barn and is a major player with a good effort. (1) ARCHANGEL has been off three weeks but has a ton of speed and ability.

Race 10

In an evenly matched race, (5) PRECOCIOUS BEAUTY has had some issues all year long, however the filly should offer a great price in a tough race to gauge. (2) ACT NOW is a lightly raced filly that has been a monster in recent starts. She should probably be considered the horse to beat. (6) GETTINGREADYTOROLL was the top driver’s choice and is ultra talented.

Race 11

(8) LIMELIGHT BEACH the jug winner could have went a lot faster last out at the Red Mile; keeps the top driver. (9) JK ENDOFANERA still has a shot at 3-year-old of the year honors, however the top driver opted elsewhere. (7) CAPITAL ACCOUNT hasn’t been able to pace with the best consistently but put in a huge effort last start.

Race 12

(7) BETTOR‘S EDGE will be blasting out for position and looks to be in line for a great trip. (6) FOILED AGAIN is tough to knock, but he hasn’t done his best racing on the big track. However, the 10-year-old gelding put in a huge effort in this race last year, just getting picked off late. (4) STATE TREASURER beat a similar field last out but could be up against it in a race devoid of early speed besides the powerful burke barn horses.

Race 13

(10) NO FEAR NO DOUBT just needs to find a way into the race to have a big shot late. (8) FOX VALLEY CUPID doesn’t win often but shouldn’t be left off the top spot against this bunch; fires early. (7) LUCKY CRUSADER was the driver’s choice and has been pacing faster than most of the field.

DRF HARNESS

Race 4 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Best Bet: REVEREND HANOVER (4th)

Spot Play: CAPELA (7th)

Race 1

(6) BETTOR AGAIN will make his third start off the shelf, drops in class and appears ready for a winning effort. (8) MAJOR HOTTIE has the back class and quick gate speed to be a main threat in here. (9) UFDRAGONS ROCKET has finished second in each of his last two starts, comes from the Fine barn and is a logical option for the triactor.

Race 2

(1) STUBBORN BELLE looks like the top rookie trotting filly at this point in the season with $361K to her credit. (2) DANIELLE HALL remains in top form this season with a terrific record. She can’t be overlooked. (8) JUANITAS FURY has missed the board once this season from nine starts and will offer a short price.

Race 3

(2) HARPER BLUE CHIP looks like the standout in this field. (5) SEE THE WIND was a winner last week after a terrific steer from MacDonald. He comes from top connections and draws well. (7) P L HURCULES will add Lasix to his program this week and has been a triactor threat all season in this division.

Race 4

(5) REVEREND HANOVER is a perfect three-for-three in his career and looks like the horse to beat in this division. (8) DRACHAN HANOVER has a terrific record this season, comes from the Barrieau barn and is fresh off a Gold win. (6) SPORTSKEEPER has hit the board in three of his last four starts and comes from the Coleman barn.

Race 5

(8) DONT RUSH romped in his latest Gold outing last week and now has back-to-back scores coming into this rich dash. (3) ALACRITY is also fresh off a win, draws inside and is once again a main threat. (4) A LITTLE MORE LOVE hails from the McIntosh barn, draws inside and has hit the board in each of his last three starts. He gets Waples aboard and has terrific gate speed.

Race 6

(1) DONAU draws the rail and is fresh off a win for trainer Auciello. He has the speed and is capable of the class jump. (4) MIRAMONTMAN drops in class and is a much better horse than he’s been showing. (3) TWIN B IMPRESSIVE has hit the board in two of his last three starts, comes from the Moreau barn and offers quick final quarter speed.

Race 7

(8) CAPELA was a winner last week for new trainer O’Sullivan and may offer a fair price in this rich final. I’m taking a shot based on her recent efforts and winning form. (10) SPORTS CHIC might be the favorite after a terrific season, but she wasn’t impressive last week. Up until last week, she has been the queen of the division. (3) I WONDER WHY draws well, comes from the McIntosh barn and has been a force in this division all season. She has the speed and gets Condren in the bike.

Race 8

(9) RIVETING ROSIE has been at her best in recent weeks and will gain a lot of support when the gate unfolds. (10) WHITE BECOMES HER has hit the board in 11 of 13 starts this season, comes from the Baillargeon barn and is capable of overcoming the outside. (1) SWEETIE HEARTS draws the rail and is fresh off a Gold win. She gets Waples in the bike and has been racing at her best.

Race 9

(3) SKIPPIN BY has been atop this division over the past few weeks, draws inside and comes from the Johnson barn. (7) LADY SHADOW comes from the McNair barn and has won two of her last three. (8) ALIBI SEELSTER has been knocking on the door as of late, has excellent gate speed and may offer a fair price from a post eight start.

Race 10

(1) JET AIRWAY begins from the rail and has been the top colt in this division all season. He’s the horse to beat based on his recent efforts and overall record. (6) THREE OF CLUBS went gate-to-wire last week for McNair and will carry the momentum into this rich final. (7) VICTOR BAYAMA comes from the Moreau barn and has been finishing off his miles very well. He should offer a price.

Race 11

(9) SHAMBALLA has won each of his last three starts in impressive form and appears capable of stepping up against the top pacers in the country. (4) DAPPER DUDE was a winner in this class last week and draws well. (7) PISTON BROKE has hit the board in four of his last five starts and has a patented late kick.

Race 12

(5) NICKLE BAG has hit the board in each of his last three starts, including a win two back. (6) THUNDER STEELER has terrific gate speed, gets McNair in the bike and shows sub-1:50 speed. (8) CAMAES FELLOW shows quick speed in his qualifiers and is capable in his first start back. He may offer a price, has the back class and comes from the Menary barn,

Race 13

(5) BROCKS FORTUNE has excellent gate speed and has been knocking on the door as of late. He’s due for a win. (6) SECRETSOFTHEKNIGHT comes from the Moreau barn and has hit the board in each of his last three starts and four of his last five. (9) ROETHBLISSBERGER drops in class, is versatile and gets Jamieson aboard again this week.

Yonkers: Saturday 10/11 Analysis
By Derick Giwner

DRF HARNESS

MEET STATS: 25 - 72 / $129.40 BEST BETS: 4 - 6 / $15.30

Best Bet: BIGTOWN HERO (6th)

Spot Play: LUCK BE WITHYOU (5th)

Race 1

(5) DR CS Z TAM drops down the condition ladder. Gelding could actually win on Saturday and get another free ride at this level next week. (3) DULL ROAR was a solid second in this class last time. The inside post should perk him back up. (4) GRAB YOUR KEYS is clearly sharp and should be able to handle this tougher group.

Race 2

(1) GOOD DAY MATE ships in for a top barn in fine form and draws best. (4) MICKEY HANOVER has won six of eight starts here over the last three years; very playable. (2) GLASS PRINCE should get away close. He has won more than 30% of his starts at Yonkers. (3) DOCTOR CARTER has won three of four starts.

Race 3

(3) VILLAGE BEAT has put in some of his best efforts with Jason Bartlett in the bike. Class relief and an inside post can only help him tonight. (1) ONLY THE LONELY has speed and the best post in his corner; good combination. (6) NOB HILL HIGH looks like a toss based on his last effort, but the pace was sizzling and he was used hard to keep up.

Race 4

(5) DUEL IN THE SUN has been known to gun off the gate when in the right spot and head down the road. This looks like that kind of spot. (1) CONKERS CONQUEST was a killer fresh off the fair circuit in Maine. There is no reason to believe he can’t score for the new barn. (4) STATION THREEOHSIX finally gets a good post to work with; worth using. (2) HI HO STEVERINO has some speed; maybe.

Race 5

(7) LUCK BE WITHYOU was on a roll in August before a tough mile in the Cane Pace. This is a quality 3-year-old with high speed. (4) STAY UP LATE gets tested for class but has outdrawn his main rivals. (8) LYONSSOMEWHERE can sprint off the gate. He may even be fast enough to avoid a four-wide trip into the first turn. (3) FORTY FIVE RED has been facing some tough company over the last few months.

Race 6

(8) BIGTOWN HERO took down some of the best pacers in the country by circling most of the field in the Ewart at Scioto. If he is put into play from post eight, he will win. (5) TAKE IT BACK TERRY draws inside his main rivals. Can he get away close enough to take advantage? (7) P H SUPERCAM goes for his third straight Open win.

Race 7

(7) THIRTY TWO RED wired the field the last time he was at this level in an added distance race. He should provide a sweet price in a field without a standout. (1) AMERICAN VENTURE rates as the one to beat for a high percentage barn. (3) EXIT CAM can leave for position and hit the exotics.

Race 8

(1) DOCTOR BUTCH doesn’t sport much in the way of form, but he draws inside and should be sitting a sweet trip. (3) MUSSELSFRMBRUSSELS is the opposite of the top choice, great form with no speed. (6) HILLBILLY HANOVER was racing well when last seen here.

Race 9

(5) OFF LIKA PROMDRESS is pretty much taking a lateral move coming in from Saratoga. Four-year-old has a super record at this oval. (3) MC RUSTY has finished second the last two times at this level. (1) MY TEMUDJIN N has post one and some early speed in his corner.

Race 10

(2) VERDAD & (1) SHORTSTACKED both draw inside this week and either is more than capable of taking advantage. (8) VALENTINO has high speed and could get good position despite the bad draw.

Race 11

(4) RONNY BUGATTI was in deeper waters the last time he ventured south to Yonkers. This guy is capable with a decent trip. (2) ARACACHE HANOVER was awesome last week and will win with a similar effort. (6) RUSSLEY RASCAL N drops down in class and should be involved at some point. (7) SMOOTH CRIMINAL was a good second in this company last week.

Race 12

(3) SOUTHWIND AMAZON had no shot while up in company from post eight in his most recent start. This level might be one step higher on the ladder than he would like, but he seems sharp enough to make some noise. (1) JUSTIFIED should perk up from post one. (2) MACHS BEACH BOY drops and draws better; capable.

Under trending between Bruins-Caps

When the Boston Bruins and the Washington Capitals get together, low-scoring games are the norm.

Each of the last four games between the two clubs have gone under the total. They'll renew acquaintances in Beantown Saturday.

The B's are currently -167 faves with a total of five for the matchup.
