McCain isn't running for reelection as an established incumbent; he's running for his 1st term as a so-called maverick with a shaky base at best.
Having a lesbian daughter is miles away from having an unwed, pregnant, teenage daughter. The former can be plausibly explained by saying she was born that way. The latter cannot be plausibly explained in the same way and instead indicates poor parenting.

I support "a woman's right to choose" to have unprotected sex knowing full well it could result in an unwanted pregnancy whereby the law would require her to carry the child to it's full term at which point she can responsibly "choose" to keep the child or give it up for adoption.
Furthermore, as a freedom-loving conservative, I also support your "right to choose" to kill a doctor who performs an abortion. Abortion is cold blooded murder -- plain and simple (eye for an eye).

When you campaign and are speaking day in and day out, you're bound to make some gaffes. Given the amount of scrutiny the media has paid attention to McCain's gaffes and his old age, it's amazing how few he's actually made.
Unlike Obama, McCain is not prompter-dependent something that will stand out this fall on national television when every American is watching.
