This season in all the major leagues, most teams who have been given the opportunity to get to the top of the table, or put pressure on the leaders have failed. It happens all the time. That's not enough of a reason to pick Colchester but there's others.
I'm wary of Derby. They've lost 2 in a row albeit an unlucky last minute goal denied them a draw at Sunderland. These losses could have affected them. I prefer Derby away. That's when they play their best football as they're a great counter attacking. They usually win their games by one goal. At home, the onus will be on them to attack and get the victory so they can rediscover their form and go top. Colchester are a strong and fast side, with one of the best strike partnerships in the league (Cureton and Iwelumo). Derby are also missing two important players. One is their defender Dean Leacock and the other is Stephen Pearson in central midfield. Leacock is harder to replace.
Colchester are also in poor form, have an awful away record, but I fancy them to put on a big effort as they perform well against the big guns. It's a good time to be facing Derby, and they need a performance to halt their recent poor form.
Hope it'll come through.
