This is my first parlay play of the year...

3 Dallas ml/Spurs ml/ Grizzlies ml(even odds)

Dallas has been great this year especially at home...I don't think the Spurs will drop many games where they are a substantial favorite because of how tight the playoff race is in the west, they have some injuries but I don't see them dropping a game like this...The Grizzlies are coming off a loss, The Celtics are coming off a win. The Celtics have been impressive of late but the Grizzlies at home coming off a loss is too good to pass up...first parlay play of the year.

Tonight heavy on big favorites covering...Phoenix(-9.5) covered @Philly, SA(-8.5) covered @ Minnesota, Memphis( -7) covered vs Celtics, Toronto (-8) covered vs the Bucks, Dallas (-9) vs LA. Every heavy favorite has won and covered so far 5-0...GS(-12.5) and Portland(-8) still have home games later tonight, we'll see what happens.

Hits: 3 (Parlay) SA ml-Dallas ml-Memphis ml...2 Dallas -9, 1 Orlando +5.

Misses: 2 Over Cavs/Wiz, 1 Cavs -1, 1 Bucks +9

Overall came out ahead today...but not the type of night I've been putting up for the past couple weeks.

4 star selections 3-0

3 star selections 8-2

2 star selections 9-7

1 star selections 20-21

1 Toronto +4.5

3 ... 5 point teaser ties win [Spurs -4 and Kings -3](-115) on dimes

Spurs home vs Brooklyn. A Brooklyn team coming off a win on the 2nd of a back to back and two games removed from a triple OT game. Brooklyn was able to spread the minutes around well @OKC...SA is coming off a blowout win where their starters played limited minutes. Brooklyn could be frisky for this game but if your the Spurs you can't drop home games against lesser opponents. Kings are going to play a T-Wolve team that has just lost Kevin Martin to injury. Pekovic is out due to injury. Without Kevin Martin, Rubio, and Pekovic this is an extremely young and inexperienced team.

1 Wizards -2(-120)

I'm a big believer in the Bucks but hosting arguably the best team in the east is not a good time to back them. This is only a 1 star because the Wizards might have a hangover from the big win over Cleveland the night before, and the Bucks should bounce back at home after a huge loss in Toronto.

With D-Wade this team can beat anyone on any given night, without Wade they just aren't very good. Wade gets everybody open shots he spreads the ball around. McRoberts hasn't fit and Deng has been hit or miss. Bosh has been in a bit of a slump.

3 Jazz +3(-115)

A case can be made that the Jazz are better than NO. If you look at their recent schedule you will see Utah has been a competitive team with occasional nights where they are over-matched by a great team and lose double digits, like last night @GS...The Jazz have had a brutal schedule to start the season...The Jazz have had the 16th and 17th off and then the 19th and 20th off and after spreading minutes around nicely last night the Jazz should be well rested for this home game.

These are the other picks I made last night and this morning consolidated into a single post:

1
Toronto +4.5

2 5 point teaser ties win Spurs -4 and Kings -3 (-115)

2 Magic -1

1 Wizards -2(-120)

1 Indiana +2

I was hoping this line would become more favorable. Indiana has played most recently the 14th 15th and 19th...Phoenix is a part of the vaunted Western Conference where wins are especially important because at least a couple good West teams will be on the outside looking in come play off time. I'm playing this one conservatively. I like Frank Vogel and the Pacers as home dogs based on their track record so far this season. Phoenix is coming off a blowout win over the worst team in the league they may underestimate the short handed Pacers.

5 Memphis -2(-130)

1 Memphis/Clippers under 197

Memphis has had Marc Gasol healthy and it shows...they have been competitive away from home and especially AT home a place they are really tough to beat. I'm still not completely sold on the Clippers. The wins they have recently haven't been all that convincing. Love Memphis' defense...Memphis is a team with something to prove this year, its always been about San Antonio OKC and LA and the Grizz get overlooked. A motivated Memphis is a strong play at home.

Important Note: Spurs Kings teaser was listed as a 3 star selection, I never make adjustments to selections without making it very clear and explaining the decision...

I'm downgrading OKC +7.5 to a 1 star selection. OKC hasn't been able to get any quality rest recently. I still like them in this spot though.

2
Portland/Boston over 211

This opened higher and predictably was bet down. Portland has the NBA's 6th ranked defense but that's while only playing 2 road games the entire season. In their two away games Portland gave up 103 against Sacramento and 106 against the Clippers...I think against in Boston Portland will be inclined to follow Boston's quick pace. Boston is scoring 106.2 ppg and giving up 108.4 ppg, and all of their home games are scoring 109.7 ppg. I like the over in this one.

2 Portland/Boston over 211...

you can get this total at an even greater value now, I've seen as low as 208.5.

Good night so far...

Memphis and the Clippers

A 67 point 3rd quarter really derailed the Memphis/Clipper under, they had 47, 46, and 38 in the other 3 quarters but all 4 quarters? 198 points...tough loss. Otherwise the game played out as expected... not really much to say that I haven't already said about these two teams. I will say there was something about Memphis that I noticed this game...Last year the Spurs did the same thing to Miami in the last few games of the finals, they kept their foot on the gas and didn't let momentum swing the opponent's way. In just about every game you see, if their isn't an enormous talent discrepancy, both teams will go on runs and coaches will have to use timeouts to kill the opponent's momentum. Memphis always found a way to kill any run LA was starting by somehow immediately picking up their own play and reestablishing their superiority. Clippers this game: Too passive, too many Blake Griffin jumpers, Spencer Hawes continues to disappoint, foul trouble for Deandre he never got into the flow of the game.

Hits: 5 Memphis -2, 1 Charlotte +1.5,

Misses: 2 Portland/Boston over, 1 Memphis/Clipper under,

4 star selections 3-0

2 star selections 9-9

Last night 1 OKC +7.5 and 1 Denver -2 hit

1 star selections 25-23

5
Dallas -12(-116)

My second five star selection in two days. I like Dallas bouncing back at home after a loss. This is a veteran team with great leadership and legit championship aspirations. The west is a dog fight for playoffs seeding I don't expect Dallas to disappoint and with Carlisle as their coach they will be focused. Indiana has had even more injuries: Roy Hibbert and Rodney Stucky....Hibbert may play in this one but Stucky has a sprained right wrist so even if he does play he wont be at 100%. This line is poised to change quickly. If you like Dallas get in on them fast.

Correction:

2 Toronto -5

two stars is the correct number...

I'm closely monitoring Jazz/Bulls if Gasol and/or Rose play the line may move even more favorably in the Jazz direction. I like the Jazz but the line could make a move.
